Very well. Don Carpenter is organized and responsive. When I was looking for a company to do the deck, he was the only one who gave me a quote with a schematic, dimensions, and material details, which I appreciated. Everything went as planned and expected and there were no surprises. His quote was in line with what other companies quoted. Once work started, the team (4 guys) showed up reliably and consistently. The work is high-quality and the people are friendly. I had some concerns about replacing a drainage pipe passing under the deck and they were very helpful getting that solved before the area was covered up with the new material. I really like the new deck.

Very well. I have hired Don for other work before. He is always honest, reliable, punctual, highly competent, respectful - everything you want in a contractor.

Right off the bat I was impressed with getting a call back within 1/2 hour of leaving a message. That in itself was a new experience for me, compared to waiting several days, or longer, or to no call back at all with other contractors. Don himself came the next day and gave me an estimate. He offered ideas and helped me solidify exactly what I wanted. He and his crew were always on time and on schedule. Don was very responsive, either answering right when I called or calling back within a very short time. He made a couple of changes for me that may have seemed a little picky, but he did so with no question and always followed through. If he says he will do something, he does it. They completed the project in only 3 1/2 days, a bit faster than promised and left the area clean of any debris. Price wise, he wasn't the cheapest bid or the most expensive bid, but was right in line with the average going price for such services. I felt comfortable with the price because I felt he knew what he was doing and I appreciated his professional manner. I'm willing to pay for that quality of character, as well as the quality of work. This was one of the most pleasurable experiences I've ever had with a contractor. I am so happy with my deck. It's just beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to hire his company again and to recommend him to friends and family.

From start to finish, Don and his team were professional, reliable and courteous. The initial quote was reasonable and Don was extremely flexible with how we wanted the deck designed. He was able to create a design that others said was not possible. He also had a lot of really great suggestions. He started the project earlier than he initially thought he could and had it completed in 2 weeks. Don was on site working along side his team every day. We have never worked with someone who was so efficient and reliable. They cleaned up each afternoon and were also very considerate with the way the deck was torn down and built so that we were never inconvenienced by the construction. We would give them an A+ if possible and would highly recommend Carpenter Construction to anyone building a deck or arbor.

Don and his crew completed the task in about 4 days. Very professional throughout. Left the finished job thoroughly cleaned with no sign that anything had gone on. Don and crew arrived on time and checked in with us. They started at 7:30am everyday and left around 3-3:30pm. The First day they took apart the old deck and took away all the garbage, old deck and arbor parts. Don kept us informed on how the job was going. When we asked him to change some things he was very accommodating and suggested a couple ideas he thought might be safer. The step and table/railing(added to ramp) we added are great. We liked Don and his crew, they were all pleasant and professional and made sure the work area was safe and tidy . Don estimated it would take 5-7 days to finish and it only took them 5 days. The new deck and arbor/roof is beautiful, sturdy, safe and we love it.

I enjoyed working with Carpenter Construction, during constructions no problems were observed and deck looks very nice. However, after we have started using the deck, the material that was selected is super hot under our feet. This is a composite decking. I really regret material selection and I feel it was mistake. We have talked about material selection and during conversations the issue with the material overheating never was brought up to our attention. I am disappointed that such an experienced person didn't disclose the overheating issue. Basically, we cannot step on the deck during the hot day.

Don Carpenter was a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive when I first contacted him, came to our house and helped us with the design of the deck, and pointed us in the right direction on where and how to select materials. The price was a little higher than other quotes but in the end was definitely worth it. Our project started just a few weeks after we signed the contract and was completed exactly in the time frame he stated. Don and his team arrived promptly each day, worked hard, and most importantly did a great job. Their attention to detail and care are evident in the quality of their work. Our new deck looks fantastic!

On time, on budget, in scope. Clear communication and met expectations. Since deck is completely enclosed, my only long term concern is whether we'll have problems underneath the deck with critters or water drainage (although Don set up a gradient so that water would drain out underneath the fence on one side of the deck). Only time will tell but for now I am totally satisfied with his work.

We hired Don for this job, because we knew that one part of the project, building a brick ramp, would be tricky. The old wooden ramp, which connects the driveway, front door, and deck, was decomposing, so we wanted to rebuild it with brick. But we needed to keep access to a clean out area and water spigot below the ramp, which would be tricky. Don designed a sliding tray so that we could slide it out for access from above, if necessary. Don personally did all the work, with a couple other people helping - they were all easy to work with and seemed to enjoy working for Don. The quality of the work was very high. One possible issue for other people laying brick -they were mixing the mortar, laying the brick and later removing excess mortar adjacent to existing plants; several of the plants died. The plants had been struggling before that, and we relandscaped the whole area a few months later, so it wasn't a problem for us - but if you do brick work, make sure the plants are protected.

Don Carpenter visited us, provided a detailed design for our deck, and submitted a bid that seemed quite fair for the work and materials involved. The design included a tasteful screen for a tankless water heater mounted on the wall of our house. He was able to begin work within the week. He and his crew arrived on time, completed the work on schedule, and produced a superb-quality result. We would recommend him for any home repair or remodel project.

We found him through Angie's List. It worked out pretty good. His name is Donald Carpenter. The work was good; I was happy with it. He was pretty good. With regard to price, it was pretty expensive.

He refused to consider my job because a permit is required.

Don showed the samples of the composite materials when he first met with us and check out our old deck. He gave us the estimate with the drawing of the new deck. He showed up on time to do the job with two helpers and they finish the job in two days. We appreciates he came back the following week to add another railing for the stairs to the deck.

He did a fine job, was on time, let me know when he could and could not come, he was professional and I would recommend him.

John Carpenter, I am building a small deck in the backyard. And I called him. I would have used him except that the government, the VA is going to put in a ramp and I am using a guy to build the access deck, it's just a matter of convenience. I would have called him if this other guy hadn't been available. I didn't use his services but he did give me a quote and he was very courteous and professional. He didn't waste any time, that can be both good and bad. We were trying to get advice because my husband is in a wheelchair and sometimes it rides flat and I was saying how big should it be and so on. He didn't want to spend any extra time with us, maybe that was just because he had another appointment to go to. He just kind of said I can do this in a half a day.

Don carpenter and his crew did excellent work w / unexpected extras in some cases especially appreciate his attention to details.

Don arrived on time to view the job and give an estimate. He had samples of the decking so we could choose a color (none of the other bids were prepared with material for us to view). He provided a design and drawing to show the work to be done. He also came up with a great deck design to put the pool in the corner to allow for more deck space. None of the other bids we received were that creative. We went with his bid and proceeded with the work. He sent a formal (but happily simple) contract for us to sign to proceed. Work started on time as quoted. Finished in about a week. His crew was quiet and friendly. Did not disturb the neighbors with noise and started on time and finished on time. He also coordinated his work very well with the pool installer. The desk is beautiful and we love it. It turned out perfectly.

Experience was great! Don has a great demeanor, very professional and easy to work with. I would defiantly use his services again in the future and refer him out to anyone I know.

We got quotes from 3 sources over the course of about 3 weeks - the prices were not that different across contractors. Carpenter was the first to respond and the most flexible. He proposed a very acceptable project window which met our schedule. Everyone showed up on time each day; they kept the noise to a reasonable minimum, especially when a bit of concrete had to be jackhammered out of the way. Special accommodations were made so that we can unscrew a part of the decking if plumbing access is needed for the faucet we had moved above the level of the deck. We felt very comfortable leaving the crew to get their work done - they obviously knew what they were doing and were able to professionally deal with the usual unexpected moments without any problems. I cannot think of anything they could have done better or differently to make this a perfect experience.

Don was on time, on budget and super fast. We met with Don 2-3 times before we signed the contract. We replaced our old deck with new composite...which we love. Railing, fascia and steps were installed to match the rest of the deck and lattice work was put in place. He primed the wood and used pre-primed hi quality woods throughout. We love it and will eventually replace the rest of the decks. Don was generous with his time and helped us trouble shoot a few other challenges we were facing in the home renovation process. He is very good and a real carpenter!

Everything went as planned and we are very happy with the result!
