We were referred to Ozzie by our close friends who also had their home remodeled with Green Universe. Ozzie did a great job for them, and my husband got to know him during their project. What a great guy! We added a new master bedroom, complete with a full bathroom. We also had our kitchen redone and took down a wall for an open concept layout. All complete with new copper piping. Let me tell you, it was smooth sailing. If you want your mind at ease when you have a big (or small) project, these are the guys for you! Everything looks fantastic! Ozzie has a great taste, and gave us great advice with the design. Our kitchen is a masterpiece, and our new master bedroom looks like a 5 star resort suite! We're planning to remodel our two other bathrooms in the future, and I have no doubt Green Universe will do an amazing job there too!

We hired Green Universe to do an addition to our existing home and install solar panels for us. I could not be more pleased with the work from Green Universe; from beginning to end they showed extreme professionalism and knowledge in all aspects of the job. The work area was kept neat at all times, and all staff was very respectful of my personal property; met time frame and stayed within the budget. Will certainly hire them in the future for any projects that might come up.

I hired Green Universe couple years ago to do general remodeling at my house. OZ was very detailed and knowledgeable about every step of the remodeling and helped us with designing our kitchen and bathroom and choose materials and colors. As I am a full time employee and cant talk much over the phone,it was great to know you can contact them with texts and emails. It is not easy to find a company you can trust to work in your house while you are at work yourself. I would definitely use them again!

EZ has really made the process as smooth as possible. His crew has done fantastic work and I'm very happy with the results. He's very responsive, responding to my texts and emails quickly and thoroughly. Overall I would highly recommend going with California Construction Center
Description of Work: Remodel kitchen and two bathrooms.
Everything went great. Couldn't be happier working with California Construction Center and with my new kitchen and bathroom. I had granite done by someone else in kitchen and bathroom...and I hated it. The stone looked beautiful in the daylight at the stone yard ...not so much in my small bathroom. It was okay in the kitchen. When interviewing contractors, one told me that the granite in the bathroom wasn't "that bad" and to remodel and decorate around it. Another contractor told me he'd have an estimate of cost for remodeling in a few days. He called a month later. Made an appointment with California Construction Center. EZ showed up on time for our first appointment and always did thereafter. He was personable, professional, and knowledgeable. Like another reviewer said EZ was very easy to work with. He and the other reviews on Angies List are the reason that I went with the company...he impressed me that much. He listened to me regarding the bathroom and how I hated the granite and said that based on what I was saying it might be better to just get rid of the granite rather than remodel and decorate around something that I didn't like ...that rang true for me. He took measurements of the kitchen and bathroom and on our next appointment showed me computer renditions of how things would look... it was very helpful to visualize everything. We never put in a start and finish date in the contract (which I read you are supposed to do) because I had pending eye surgery and didn't know what the outcome of that would be. EZ worked with me and didn't try to pressure me. We decided verbally when the start and finish date would be and EZ was true to his word. He would always get back to me within 24 hours if I had any question or concerns. They used one crew for my entire project. They brought samples to my place and were very helpful in helping me make selections ( which I really appreciated after my granite picking fiasco... I didn't trust myself to pick out anything) Tal was the foreman on the project. He was great. I went nuts over what color "white" paint to paint the walls. Tal brought samples and I got samples and he just painted them on the walls so I could really see what they looked like in my space with the lighting. I had the cabinets in kitchen and bath painted... they look brand new. In the bathroom I got a white quartz countertop to replace the granite ...porcelain marble looking tile on floor and walls , a soaking tub , more modern lighting and more up to date bath fixtures in brushed nickel. I got the same white marble looking porcelain floor in my kitchen. The quality of the workmanship is great. I've heard nightmare stories from neighbors about contractors and their remodeling projects. In my case it has been a great experience and I am very happy .
Description of Work: I wanted my kitchen and bath remodeled and my entire condo painted. Cabinets in kitchen and bathroom painted, New flooring , new range. New flooring, walls, fixtures, bathtub in bathroom New lighting. Entire place painted.

Wonderful! California Construction Center is the best residential construction contractor in Southern California! They replaced the non-functioning and unsafe plumbing, electrical, etc. of a long neglected mid-century modern, and rebuilt a beautiful home in record time. The new second story is well-built and the existing structure retains as much of the original charm as possible, but with updated functionality. Ben and Oz were so great to work with; they are responsive, super friendly, and took great care of us through this enormous project! We feel like these guys are family! We are so happy with our newly completed house and we recommend them whole-heartedly!
Description of Work: Large second story addition and major remodel
We hired California Construction Center to remodel our guest bathroom. Before the work started we talked to Nir a couple of times. He explained everything, showed us pictures and samples and made suggestions when needed. The workers that showed up each day were always on time, very respectful towards me, very professional and answered all my questions (if they didn't know they' d call their boss) and they cleaned up every night before they left. Besides that, they did excellent work. Nir was always available via text or phone calls and he came often to check on progress and to address our concerns. The timeline he gave me, by when the job would be completed, was right on. This was a good experience and I ended up with a beautiful guest bathroom. I would hire California Construction Center again.

Nir from CCC came out to measure fiorvacremoddl and do the 3D rendering of two rooms. He wanted to meet about a week and a half later to give me the rendering and the quote. To his credit at the face to face meetings he was nice very detailed and knowledgeable. He came to my condo and wanted a week and a half later on a Sunday to go over everything. He still on this day did not give me the quote and said to give him till Monday or Tuesday. Monday came I heard nothing. Today came I heard nothing. I finally texted Tuesday night and he said he was working on it. Weds I heard nothing. Thursday I heard nothing. I finally emailed them on Thursday afternoon and no response at all. I called the office and they said they will forward him a massage, i heard nothing. Finally on Friday morning I texted him just asking for my 3D renderings that I paid for. I didn't hear anything till the end of the day offering to meet again over the weekend. At this point I had no interest, totally unprofessional, poor communication and delayed my project almost two weeks. If this was their behavior now, glad I didn't start the work with them.

CCC no showed for appointment. Contacted office to schedule written estimate for garage repair. Confirmed date and time with receptionist. Was told Nir would be the one who would be coming by. Was advised estimate would be $500 since I was not the owner of the property (normally would be a free service). Asked for his phone number in case plans changed but receptionist stated office would be open all day and I could call them. I again called the office the day of appointment to confirm but there was no answer despite their assurances they would be "open" so I left a message to re-confirm appointment. To make a long story short, they never showed for the appointment. After making 5 phone calls I finally received a call back from the receptionist an hour after the scheduled appointment asking if someone was trying to call them. I explained the situation. Eventually they found out that Nir had been in a meeting prior to the appointment where there we no cellphone service! Seriously?! The location of the estimate was outside of downtown LA! The owner called to apologize and offered to comp the estimate but at that point, I figured they would probably just jack up the price anyway. In the end it's all about respect and professional courtesy. Don't stiff a paying customer and not show up! If you are going to be late or can't make your appointment, step out and make a call on a pay phone or wherever there is service!

EZ started demolition immediately after being hired. Long story short, EZ passed all building inspections on the first attempt, completed the job ON-TIME, and didn’t charge a penny over what he estimated. During this 7 weeks, my husband and I called EZ almost every day (morning and night - as late as 10:00 p.m. sometimes), and EZ picked up the phone 95% of the time, or else texted me back and returned my call within 5 to 10 minutes. My husband (the perfectionist) envisioned how he wanted the skylights to look (just like the velux catalog - 3 next to each other). After EZ framed the ceiling/roof, my husband said he didn’t like the location. EZ’s response? “OK, I want to make you happy - where do you want it?” EZ changed the location, and afterwards my husband asked again to change the way it looked. EZ’s response? “OK, what would make you happy?” EZ changed it again. My husband changed it for a third time which required new beams, and EZ’s response was always “OK, I can do that. I want to make you happy”. I didn’t like the size of the new window in the new bathroom, and EZ’s response, predictably was “OK, I want to make you happy”. After the framing for the new shower was constructed, it was smaller than I thought it would be (although it was built according to my plans) and asked if we could enlarge it. EZ responded “No problem, if that will make you happy”. We never got sick of hearing that response. EZ never charged us more for making these changes, and simply made these changes because he wanted to make sure we were happy with the construction. Now THAT’s what I want to hear from a contractor. Throughout the project, EZ accommodated us, whether we decided it didn’t look great or if we saw an imperfection. We NEVER had to argue with him once. Again, he had one response: “I want to make you happy” and “I will take care of it”. We also met with EZ’s co-workers, “Ozzie” and “Omer”, and both had the exact same attitude: “We can do that”, “we will make the change” and “we want to make you happy”, without charging us more to make us happy. This made a very stressful time a little less stressful, knowing that the project would come out the way we wanted, and still staying within budget and meeting the deadline. The job is now complete, and we love our new home, especially the areas that were renovated by EZ. Again, the renovations came out even better than we hoped, and we have gotten a lot of compliments. My husband (who is never happy with anything) is actually very happy with the results. Even after the job has been completed, EZ is actually coming back to do one more thing for me, without charge, because I wanted crown molding around a pony wall in the bathroom. EZ never complains or argues, is completely professional, very responsive, absolutely accommodating and understanding, and he truly wants to make sure we are happy with his work. He seems to put customer service at the top of his priority list. It was a pleasure working with him, and I was simply compelled to write this review (which I don’t usually do, especially not such a long one). My husband has already recommended EZ to his brother and to a friend (even though he never recommends anyone because he doesn’t want to feel responsible if things go bad), and we plan on using EZ for any projects in the future. If you are going to hire a contractor, interview as many contractors as you like, but make sure you include EZ.
Description of Work: Before purchasing our house in Palos Verdes Estates, we knew that it would require a lot of work. Both my husband and I have Renovation Hardware taste but wanted to renovate with an IKEA budget. The following were the list of must-have items to renovate: (1) gut the master bathroom; (2) enlarge the master closet by relocating the entrance to the master bathroom; (3) move the HVAC unit from the second floor to the attic; (4) move the washer/dryer from the garage to the second floor (where the HVAC used to be); (5) renovate the kitchen; (6) tear down a load-bearing wall separating the kitchen and the family room; (7) install skylights (4 total skylights). During this time, we added a few things here and there as well. My husband is a perfectionist, and calls himself an “amateur architect” and does a lot of DIY stuff around the house, so he knew EXACTLY what he wanted when renovating the home (he created the layout and design, and hired a licensed architect to prepare the drawings for the permits). A friend referred a general contractor to us, and he agreed to do the job within our budget, but we didn’t get a good feeling from him (seemed unorganized, never returned our calls, was over a week late in returning emails, didn’t have a website or reviews online, and kept sending us bids with the wrong information). We’ve heard nightmare stories about contractors, and so decided to play the field and at least consider other contractors. My husband ended up interviewing around 9 other contractors (all while the house was still in escrow, so that we could start renovating immediately after it closed). The primary concerns were as follows: (1) PRICE; and (2) timing, since I was 7 months pregnant when escrow closed and was in a short-term rental until the house was completed. We needed someone to stay within our budget, and complete the job within 2 months. Easy enough right? NO! All 9 contractors were over our budget, and all of them estimated the job to be completed within 3 to 5 months (2 of them charged almost 5 times our budget and estimated 8 to 9 months. WHAT? It was crazy how far apart these bids were for the same job). So my husband and I decided that we had no choice but to increase our budget, and forget about moving in before the baby was born. The escrow closed in August 2016, and we still didn’t have a contractor. My husband and I were stressed out. Coincidentally, when speaking with a friend of mine from business school (she is known to be detail oriented and do more research than the average person, and I respect her opinion), she recommended California Construction Center, and particularly EZ (he goes by “EZ”). She told me that she did tons of research when adding a new room to her home, and said that EZ was very “easy” (no pun intended) to work with, that the price was one of the lowest she received, that the final product was flawless, that he didn’t go over budget, that he completed the job EARLIER than estimated, and he always picked up the phone when she called. Sounded too good to be true, so I called EZ and met with him. Very nice, knowledgeable, professional, organized (created computer model of what our bathroom would look like, similar to the HGTV shows), and super responsive. We met for a second time to go over the bid (estimate), and my husband and I prepared ourselves to be disappointed once again with the price and the length of construction, but told ourselves that as long as it wasn’t crazy numbers, we would hire him because we felt good about him. To our surprise, EZ’s bid was BELOW OUR BUDGET (we told him what our budget was), and he estimated 6 to 8 weeks (he explained that he knew I was giving birth and would do everything he could to get us in our home beforehand). No brainer, we hired him on the spot, especially because we felt absolutely confident with him.

Quality control at all phases of project including communication planning, design, and construction. I was always able to reach the supervisor and communicate concerns, issues and opportunities. Many pictures from other projects were reviewed to demonstrate the different materials, designs, colors, and cost alternatives. The company's management also made every effort to adjust specifics within the boundaries of our contract without changing the cost or timeline of the project. For example, increasing the size of the area to be covered (a customer savings caused by supplier restrictions on pallet size), squaring off the area with cement to enhance and save on construction time, using buff vs. bullnose (a very good cost-saving feature accomplished with some effort to grind down 'tabs' on the pavers, keeping a natural look.) I did the demo of the tile that was on the patio to save time money leaving the cement patio intact. Pavers were to be laid on top. Construction proceeded at a good tempo. The subcontractor communicated and visited my home often. The guys doing the work were quite skilled. My initial concerns regarding color selection were unfounded as the final picture emerged - 5 lighter pastel colored variations arranged in an alternating 2 long horizontal-2 long verical-2 long horizontal with short ones filling in the square. I have to say the cost was worth it as I smile each time I look out my sliding patio door - the paver colors complement the colors inside my house, darker brown laminate with lighter almond colored paint. It makes me feel very rich! Thank you again California Construction Center. Excellent job!

California Construction Center did a beautiful job on our kitchen remodel so we called them again when we were looking at updating our bathrooms. (Being a repeat customer should tell you something not only about the quality of their work, but also how easy they are to work with and how competitively they are priced.) Our remodel is still IN PROGRESS so I will update this review when it is completed, but so far EZ and his crew have gone above and beyond for us (including offering to pick up windows from a vendor to avoid our being charged a delivery fee!). We can't say enough great things about California Construction Center and look forward to seeing our completed project in a week or so!

They have made the construction process as smooth as possible. They are professionals! They knew how to handle all the expected and unexpected things that came up during the construction. They were consistent, they showed up and kept the job going according to schedule. Johnny is an amazing designer he guided us throughout the process and helped us with all the decision and material selections. Thank you OZ for your knowledge and expertise in construction. Thank you California Construction Center!
Description of Work: California Construction Center and their amazing team, have remodeled our Kitchen, and a master bedroom addition.
Mixed bag, unfortunately with most of it not positive. We initially met Nir on a project that did not come to fruition and we were impressed. He was on time and very thorough. However, on his follow-up meeting, he was very late and did not bring the 3-D renderings as promised. We were disappointed. When a second project came around, we decided to give CA Construction another shot. We scheduled an appointment with them and, due to an unforeseen inspection, the appointment was rescheduled. Then, due to the inspection running late, the appointment was rescheduled again. And on the day and time of the third appointment, Nir was over 2 hours late without a phone call or apology. We actually even called him twice, left voicemails, received no response. When he finally did show, there was again no apology. Really acceptable to be over 2 hours late without even a phone call or text to let us know - and to a meeting that had been rescheduled for the third time. Very disappointing - especially since I had also let them know that I was pregnant and so the construction need was fairly urgent. It's unfortunate - especially since they had such high reviews. But, needless to say, we will not be using their services and can not recommend them to others based solely on their unreliability.

I am so happy that I chose this company! I feel that they care about my family and our needs and are doing everything they can to build a beautiful home for us in as short a period of time that is humanly possible. Neighbors walk by the house and comment on how quickly the house is getting built. Everyday something is being done there; the house is a hive of activity. Whenever I text a question to Ben and Oz, they text me right back with a response the same day every time, not the next day, not next week, but within two or three hours at most. When my mom wanted to talk to Ben, we called him, feeling pretty guilty about calling him around dinner time, but he answered the phone and reassured her and provided an update on the next steps in the project. He made MY mom smile and laugh! Truly amazing!
Description of Work: California Construction Center was hired to essentially gut and rebuild a poorly maintained mid-century modern house in a beautiful location, and to build a large second story addition consisting of a master suite, adjoining study, and guest suite. The contractor started work in late May 2016 and this project is currently ongoing. The contractor has completed demolition, framing of the second story, rough plumbing and roofing. Ben is keeping the entire project moving at a great pace. He is just a fantastic person to work with. I am very pleased with his responsiveness and communication. Oz, who is running the crews, has been able to keep all the trades working in coordination with each other and even though it is only partially completed, I can see that all the work has been done to very high standards.
California construction center took great care of us. They were very efficient and thorough. They always listened to our concerns. The house is beautiful. Ben and his crew were great and were always working. You don't have to worry about your contractor not showing up. They worked every Saturday and were as accommodating as possible. I have a dog and a cat and they were still able to do the construction in an accommodating manner.
Description of Work: A complete remodel. New kitchen. Created a new master suite with master bath. Replaced all floors, windows.

Things went well. Nir was my consultant. I met with him twice to discuss my project. I liked him immediately! He was welcoming, friendly, VERY PROFESSIONAL, quite knowledgeable, extremely detailed, organized, and not pushy! He and I were on the same page with design ideas. Nir is the reason California Construction Center is at the top of my list of contractors to complete my job. My ONLY reservation is the budget. The estimate is more than I had allotted the project to be. After I absorb the slight shock of the fees, at this point, I am inclined to select this company. I do not think that I will be content with another contractor. If the fee for the job would have been lower, I would have signed the contract tonight!
Description of Work: I contacted this company to obtain an estimate to remodel my kitchen, which I received.

We did not go with him but the competition was very close. Nir was very professional and friendly. He definitely knew his business and presented us with a very professional design. It was presented on his computer where he was able to show us what it would look like upon completion. This was very helpful to me as I have a problem visualizing. We went with a contractor that was used by a friend and came well recommended. Nir's prices were very competitive. He also had vendor's that he recommended and he would go with you to assist in picking out the fixtures. I wish him the best in the future.
