California Construction Center

Having used California Construction Center for a remodel of two bathrooms and a kitchen, I was eager to have them bid on a big new project at our new house involving a pool, pergola, fireplace, outdoor deck, and garage conversion to an ADU (with an addition). I reached out to EZ via text and email and try and see if he'd be interested in bidding on the project in March -- and he said he was! We sent a RFP in March and, never heard anything, so followed up with EZ via text on April 2, 4, 8. He never replied. The project was delayed for historical review so I followed up via text on June 25 once we had secured approvals -- but didn't hear back from EZ. I reached out again yesterday (August 13) via text and email and didn't get the courtesy for a reply. What a shame. This was once a reputable company, but not any more. Don't believe all the A ratings.

WORST CONSTRUCTION JOB TO DATE. Chose them even though the price was a little higher than other bidders as Nir gave me the confidence that he knew what my needs were and assured me that the job would be completed by the time I left to go on a trip. Contract was signed June 13, 2017 with completion date 2-3 weeks after commencement of job which was to be July 20, 2017. On July 19 CCC asked for a commencement date of 7-8 August as July was busy for them BUT assured me that the construction would be ready when the door arrived 16 August. On August 8 it was discovered that a retaining wall needed to be replaced and I signed a Change Order to the original Contract. The doors were attempted to be delivered on August 16 but I had no place to store them and asked them to contact CCC. The demolition finally started on August 17 for 1 day and no construction resumed until August 26 for 5 days; September 11, 1 day, September 15 for 7 days; September 28, 1 day; October 4, 2days; October 27, 2 days; November 2, 5 days; November 13, 1 day. CONTRACT WAS SIGNED JUNE 13, 2017, with START DATE OF JULY 20. Commencement day was changed at the request of CCC to August 7/8. BETWEEN AUGUST 17 AND NOVEMBER 13 there was ONLY 23 DAYS OF CONSTRUCTION. Nir was fully aware of dates I would be away and said he could work within those dates. DID NOT HAPPEN. PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED DURING THE JOB: Electrical conduit between house and outside garage was covererd by debris from demolition resulting with no electricity to garage NOR TO INTERCOM AT GATE; electrician had to be called. REMOTE CAMERA UNDER DECK LOST. Ozzie can be particularly condescending and GOT UPSET WHEN I POINTED OUT THAT THE SLATS between the stair railings were not spaced equally apart, laughing it off until I insisted that they be constructed as requested. Last electrician showed up TO PLACE ELECTRICAL CONDUIT UNDER DECK SAID HE DID NOT WORK ON LOW VOLTAGE ELECTRICITY for the intercom. Ozzie did not have a low voltage electrician and said to have Alarm Company do it when they replaced the lost remote camera.. Nir proposed that I keep the balance owing to pay for camera and Alarm Company. We signed off on that agreement. TO DATE, the LOCK BOX is still attached to front gate AND A BUNDLE OR REBAR is laying beside the stairs. USE CCC AT YOUR OWN PERIL. Cost of service includes Milgard French Doors.

I have an old house in Lincoln Heights in Los Angeles. I contacted California Construction Center about remodeling stairs in my house that are too steep / not up to code. The person they sent over was Alan and he was very professional and helpful. I explained to him I wanted this project done ASAP (I have 2 new tenants moving in and wanted to finish the remodeling before they move in) and he took me very seriously on that and moved very fast. He got some contractors out to my house the next week to take measurements and get blueprint plans from the city. He had a full quote and plan ready for me in about 10 business days. While I ultimately decided not to move forward with the stairs remodeling (Some complications occurred involving permits with my house's basement which would've complicated things with the City) Alan was incredibly punctual and responsive throughout the entire process. And the research he did with City Hall helped me make an informed decision. I will definitely be hiring them for future projects!

Green Universe is an amazing company, I can’t say enough good things about this company’s expertise and excellent customer service skills. I was super impressed by Oz’s knowledge in this field of work, you can tell right away his level of understanding is very different from the average contractor that I met with from other companies. His ideas and design input really made me confident that I was in good Hands with my Kitchen and Bathroom remodel needs. This is my go to company in all things design and construction, and with no hesitation I would use them again and again if needed. I can’t explain enough how much my home means to me, I have worked hard to make it special and unique and, so I naturally wouldn’t trust it in the hands of just anyone. After a very stressful interviewing process, dealing with competing companies, I came across GREEN UNIVERSE, and boy am I glad I did. They walked me through what I would be expecting, they kept it clear and concise. I wasn’t thrown surprises or problem along the way, like my friends have told me about with other companies, their horror stories scared me initially to do any work, but the min I set with OZ from this company I knew my experience would be a positive one. Alan was always there on time, very knowledgeable about everything. did a 3D model of what the kitchen will look like when it's finished. We haven't remodeled our kitchen but will be n September. But, we will be going with California Construction when we do.

EZ and his crews where always punctual and professional, and he's able to make sense out of many related parts of a project that can tend to complicate things. The price may have been more than I would have paid elsewhere, but he always showed up when he said he would, and the work was done on time within budget. For what more could you ask?

The Three Guys From Tel Aviv Let me tell you a little story about US Home Developers, AP Roofing, and California Construction Center. All three of these roofers sent me agents who notified me almost upon entry into my home that they were from Israel. Not only that during the conversation they made sure I found out that all three of them were from Tel Aviv. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that their bids were also all abnormally high compared to last year’s prices and ranged from 50% to 66% higher. It is a fact that this is price gouging because bids I have received from other contractors since then are the same as or slightly more than last year. The three guys from Tel Aviv all swore that this was due to many things from the disasters in Florida and Texas to the extremely high labor costs in California. My response is ********! We may be Americans but we are not stupid. And I think you will find we will stand up to attempts at price fixing and collusion no matter where they occur whether it be in the Whitehouse or in San Fernando Valley. I decided that none of them would get the contract. Merry Christmas Or, Leo, and Daniel. The next time you meet Daniel deserves the middle bid. He looked depressed. The Facts The facts are that three different supposedly independent roofing contractors came into my home to give me a bid to reroof my house. It is a fact that each one of these guys that came to do the estimate told me during the course of the interview that they were from Israel and not only that, but that each one of them was from Tel Aviv. Now I have nothing against one random person telling me their nationality and place of birth, but for three consecutive contractors to make it part of their business presentation the first time in my home is not only bad business, but it smacks of racism, bigotry and prejudice. It has no place in the American business landscape. The hiring or firing of anyone should not be based on race, color or national origin. I don’t know about Israel, but that should be the way it is done in the US. My question is: “Why did all three of these men feel it was necessary to tell me this?” The troublesome thing about this is that it goes beyond just random proclivities. It represents a systemic pattern of behavior based on racial and ethnic prejudice or the fear of it. I hope that I never have such a display of unprofessional behavior again in my home. I encourage the managers of these three firms to review their policies and represent an image to the public which is more in line with civil rights laws of our country.

I hired Green Universe Inc for a complete bathroom remodel and updates to the kitchen in my condo in Thousand Oaks, CA. After posting the proposal on homeadvisor.com, I received numerous phone calls and visits with promises of quotes within 24 hours. Of the 6 contractors that came to see my condo only Green Universe followed through with an excellent bid for the remodeling job. The work involved complete gutting and remodeling of the bathroom. Ozzie of Green Universe was very responsive to my requests and provided regular updates on the project. Ozzie and his team were able to complete the project in the promised time. Their work was excellent and Ozzie’s team demonstrate great attention to detail and ensured everything was completed without a need for rework. There only a few minor items on the punch list at the end of the project. I appreciated Ozzie’s professionalism and responsiveness. Most importantly, Green Universe provided a fair quote and a reasonable turn-around-time for my project. I am extremely happy with their work and would hire them again for any future remodeling projects.

We had terrible leaks last winter and we got referred to Green Universe through a friend. They had an estimator come out and assess the damage and helped us make new sketches and plans for the remodel. During the inspection they also found asbestos in a lot of places which we didn't even know about, they carefully removed it and took care of that for us too. We were so happy with how the project was going that we actually added even more things for them to do as the project progressed. The end result is just what we wanted and our project manager was reachable on the phone at all times to answer all questions and concerns. I would highly recommend this company to everyone in need of almost any kind of help in your house. Super professional and most of all knowledgeable!

Correction to my earlier Note: Earlier I wrote that the person did not drop by per appointment. Today, I got a call from EZ indicating that there was a miscommunication. I got a voicemail message from the staff confirming his arrival last week. Apparently this is was not the case. EZ called me and we discussed the issue and now he is committed to meet with us next week with the design. We will see how this project process progresses.

I manage an apartment complex in the san Fernando area, I did a lot of research and interviewing for general construction companies, for a bathroom we needed remodeled that was left in very bad shape after one of my tenants left the apartment. I came across many companies, saw a few before I hired these guys, but boy am I glad, I have good instincts. California Construction Center, Inc really gave me confidence they can execute the job professionally and accurately, considering we work with fine guidelines and strict build code enforcements. Sure, enough I’m proud to say I was 100% correct in my feelings. Their staff is amazing. From beginning to end, they worked with us and made us feel confident in our decision. It was so refreshing to work with a company that has so much knowledge in what field they work in. I told my supervisors about them, and sure enough we have kept them on our vendor list and plan on utilizing them for any future construction work our buildings might need. I enjoyed working with these Guys, and whatever I say won’t do justice for how positive my overall experience with them was.

I called California Construction Center, Inc. to schedule an appointment for building a pool and from the first lady that answer the phone to the guy that actually met with us (Ben) and the workers that actually performed the job- they were all very knowledgeable and very detail oriented. Ben presented a beautiful different 3D designs that meet our budget in building our pool. After we finished building our pool and we felt we can trust this company, we decided to ask Ben for another quote for roofing,windows replacement and painting the interior and exterior of our house. We were very happy to know that we can use our credit cards as method of payment and even more that they work with Hero and Ge so we can finance the rest of our balance since we did not plan to do all this renovations from the beginning. Ben was very easy to communicate with, he answered all or questions and his stuff made sure to keep our house clean by the end of every working day. I highly recommend and will definitely use this company again.

I bought a new house and took Green Universe as my construction company after getting so many recommendations. I called Ozzie to remodel my kitchen and master bathroom. Ozzie was very honest and nice, Very professional. He came to give me an estimate, he went over all the expenses and details with me, I felt very secured with Ozzie and his team. Through this entire process of getting my new dream kitchen and master bathroom every thing went so well. I am so Excited to cook in my beautiful kitchen :)))))) Thank you Green Universe for making my dream come true! I definitely use you soon for my next project!

If you know you want your house remodeled, but you aren't sure exactly what the possibilities are Jonathan can help you. He will present you with a range of options and you can decide how to proceed based upon your budget. He will bring you examples of other projects he has worked on from big to small. He will use subcontractors to get the work you request completed quidkly. He will write out an estimate and stick to the agreed upon price. We didn't have any unforeseen issues to deal with during our projects. We had seven separate contractors (Jonathan and six subcontractors) involved in our project. I will give you a general rating of their work. Stucco and Painting Work- California Construction Center (Jonathan and Miguel)- Rating A. Jonathan's design work was amazing. Miguel finished any "odds and ends" mini-projects to complete the work. Demolition Crew- B. Work was done quickly, but some trim was damaged around windows during demo. House Trim Preparation- C. They did not sand the bottom of window trim on the side of our house that is not readily visible from the front or back side of the house. There were old drops of paint left from a previous paint job. We did not notice this before the painters painted over it and don't ever look at that side of the house, so we never brought up the issue, but if we had I'm sure it would have been taken care of. Stucco- B +. The house looks fantastic. We have a smooth stucco finish that looks much more modern and appealing. They made some minor mistakes. The stuccoed over the wiring for our doorbell and the wiring for the exterior lights on the garage. We don't mind because we are going to get a wireless doorbell anyway. Exterior House Painting. B+ The work was done quickly and looks great overall. Some of the screens and one window were painted on. Miguel (Jonathan's employee) cleaned this up at our request. Window and Door Installation: Two crews completed the work. The windows and doors were installed in about two work days time in total. There were 21 windows, a sliding glass door, a front door and a side door replaced. A -We are extremely satisfied with our new windows. Heating and cooling costs have decreased substantially. Our heating and cooling systems function much more efficiently. One of the crews forgot to fill in nail holes around the widows. Miguel did an excellent job of fixing their mistake. Jonathan's pricing was competitive with other contractors and the quality of work was what we expected. Jonathan's eye for design and efficiency is what truly impressed us. He was aware that we were on a budget and offered us several price options (dependent upon quality of materials and intricacy of design). We will be using him in the future for another project in our backyard.

The building evidenced considerable deferred maintenance but given its fine location we bid on it based on the merits, or lack thereof. We hired Green Universe in November to take on a complex series of tasks including decking, rewiring, drainage, laundry room upgrade, etc. The crew was working every time we visited the building with the result that the job has come in on time and under budget. We are listing it this week.

California Construction Center was extremely thorough, and did a fantastic job fixing the stucco and painting the exterior of our house. They cost more than a standard paint contractor but the flexibility and experience they brought as a general contractor was worth the extra cost. We had a lot of little issues that weren't discovered until the job started and CCC handled all of the extras without nickel and dining me. I look forward to using them again on our next home improvement project.

The work performed by Green Universe company is outstanding. From initial consultation, proposed 3D rendering, to the final execution I could not be happier. They were very patient with the design revisions to create exactly what I was looking for. The 3D skills are amazing, I found it very helpful to be be able to see the finished product before the work began. Ozzy’s knowledge and guidance in selection of materials and finishes cannot be matched. Flooring, tile, paint, stucco, trim; he knows it all. He is very clear in describing the scope of work, very honest, responsive and ethical. Pleasure to work with.

Everything went exceptionally well. The workers we always on time, cleaned up at the end of each day and did gorgeous work. I did a remodel of the inside about a year and a half age and this brought my 1967 home to the modernization of 2017. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I had a lot of different work that was needed at my house and California Construction Center pulled through on every one with absolute craftsmanship. All work preformed was done in a timely manner, as agreed upon with no surprises. I had 2 other companies come out to bid the job and CCC was the one who seemed like they were listening to what I wanted, how I wanted it and without trying to tell me what I should be doing or anything like that. Here are the details: New roof and exterior house painting was completed in about a week and boy did my house need some TLC. The eves around the house were replaced and a lot of stucco work done on the exterior walls. Looks like a completely different house and they even matched the roof tiles and color of my new Tuff Shead for that "finished" look. Backyard Tuff Shead; Installed sub-panel with 4 interior can ceiling lights and A/C outlets. Did install of insulation and then drywall with mud. It's ready for me to paint. Absolutely fantastic job. I'm having them come back to finish the exterior door installs and then the work will be done. That was the work, now for the personal review.... I enjoyed working with my contractor for the job Ben Edri. When I had an issue (i.e. gas was accidentally shut off when earthquake sensor was knocked) I called (it was a Sat.) and I was entertaining guests, within an hour he had a guy out there to make sure my water heater was lit. When I noticed that some touch up work was needed on the paint job, his guys were 'Johnny on the spot' and I had my garage door re-painted to my liking and other touch ups done by the end of the week. All in all, all of the workmen who worked on site were professional, respectful, and cared about the work they were doing. Working in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, you get used to a higher standard when it comes to the work that you do and I could see that they were professional craftsmen. i would definitely hire again.

Dealing with California Construction was a very negative experience for me. I contacted them for a simple house painting and replacement of some siding on my home. Any handyman could have done it better. The contract stated the job would be completed in 10 days. They took approximately 6 months to complete the job and this only after I contacted a Lawyer and reported them to the State Contractor Licensing Board. The contractor I had to deal with was poorly trained in basic business skills, managed his contracted crew poorly, and had levels of self esteem few will achieve. His basic business strategy seemed to have been to do the poorest quality job he could get the customer to accept. He's too poorly trained in business to comprehend the value of repeat business or the power of word-of-mouth. I have an older house that still requires work, California Construction won't get those jobs. The terms of the contract were violated straight away for completion date. When challenged about the time overrun we were basically threatened with poor quality workmanship for rushing them. When poor workmanship was pointed out, it was met this excuses and vehement push back in a effort to get us to accept it. The attitude of the contractor in charge was frequently rude and condescending when confronted with workmanship and contract overrun issues. He is easy to spot: a young man who can't stop talking about his 14 or so years of experience and why you don't have a right to question the searing logic of his fiery intellect. Violation of the completion date extended several weeks a put us into the rainy season causing more delays. California Construction proceeded to paint the house when conditions were wet and rainy. This poor workmanship caused the new paint to blister and peel. Some of the new siding that had been replaced warped and pulled away from the house due to poor nailing of the boards using undersized nails. California Construction did say they would make good on repairs. When repairs did commence, they dragged their feet for weeks because we had already paid in full. I was even told at times they couldn't come because they were busy doing other jobs leaving us hanging at their convenience. They only made a real effort to finish the job after I contacted a lawyer and reported them to the State Contractor Licensing Board. If you are going to use this company after reading this, do yourself a favor: don't hesitate to report them if they violate contract, and, be prepared to get a lawyer involved if need be. I don't care what kind of rebuttals may be posted, just ask yourself what kind of excuse could you possibly have to stretch a 10 day contract into approximately 6 months and paint in the rain?

Ben and Tal (our project boss) were our Batman and Robin. They were always available via text or mobile phone any day of the week and were patient with my questions about the process and timeline. Communication is important for us and they both excelled at keeping us informed and guiding us through the 11 week make over or our home. Tal was exceptional as our foreman. He scheduled his staff (even on Saturdays) to get work completed and had great suggestions for finishing touches. I can truly say that if it were not for Ben, Tal and their team, we would not have had our beautiful 21st century kitchen on time and on budget. (Just in time for my birthday celebration.) Overall the project was fairly smooth. There were a few bumps in the road with tile delivery and communication but all in all it worked out!

Both my husband and I were really impressed with this company.

It was incredibly easy working with Ozzie. He is punctual, professional, has great ideas and is responsive. He took measurements, asked questions to get an idea of what we liked and wanted, then created different layouts for us to choose from. Once we decided, the whole process began! Demolition, plumbing, electricity, hot mopping of shower and delivery of tub and tile were all done in a week! Ozzie and his team are incredibly efficient and talented at what they do. I would highly recommend Green Universe to anyone without hesitation!

If anyone is looking into hiring a construction company, I strongly recommend California Construction Center Inc. I am a very hard person to please, somewhat a perfectionist. When construction was done, I was and still am very happy with the work they did. This is our 2nd time doing construction since we moved in. After the first time we remodeled our master bath, my husband and I sword we will NEVER EVER do another construction. We would simply move. But all the rain in February damaged our roof and forced us to fix our master bath again. The first construction company, it took them about 7-8 month to finish (1 bathroom). They were soooo unprofessional in so many ways. But NOT California construction center inc. When there were issues they took care of it! They kept all the promises they made. Their first and foremost important goal is to make their customer happy and the master bathroom is a master piece!!! So if I need to do another construction we don't have to move, I would simply call California Construction Center Inc. Thank you Jonathan and Miguel for your hard work. You guys are now in our trusted circle...
