I am very thankful I chose Black Diamond. Iâ m very happy with the outcome. The project ran smoothly. The project manager, Rocco Pent, was super helpful and the cost was competitive and fit my budget.

The first landscaping contractor we contacted was Black Diamond where we met Rocco Pent, Assistant Regional Manager and Senior Project Design Specialist/Project Manager. During the initial site visit, which lasted 5 hours, we explained our design ideas, preferences, options and requirements. As we walked around the front and back yards, Rocco took detailed measurements of the prospective layout and then helped us think through in the pros and cons of our initial design and landscaping material choices. Rocco helped us refine our initial concept with the design and materials that worked best for our front and back yards, taking into consideration our existing mature landscaping and the look and feel of the rest of our property so everything would be integrated and cohesive. He came up with creative solutions to solve some of the challenges that would be encountered with our overall design. It became immediately clear to us that Rocco (and Black Diamond) had the understanding, knowledge, skill, and experience in all the critical elements of our landscaping project. At the end of the visit, Rocco entered the key data from his survey into his computer and presented us with a detailed rendering of the project. He explained each element of the design â from demolition to site preparation to product installation â together with pricing. More importantly, Rocco established with us a sincere rapport and high level of trust that clearly indicated he â and Black Diamond â would be partners with us to guarantee a successful project. Itâ s always great to feel like you've developed a positive, trusting relationship with a company that will be working on your home. After we had a signed contract and just prior to beginning the project, Rocco made another site visit with his Crew Forman, Fernando. They spent nearly two hours inspecting the site with respect to the Final Design Plan. Rocco and Fernando spent additional time with us to discuss several elements to confirm demolition and installation details, with emphasis on a number of critically important elements related to protecting existing plant root systems, water pipes, drainage requirements, etc. We were impressed with their attention to and knowledge of these factors. Rocco also assured us that he would be our point of contact and project leader from beginning to end, which he did very effectively. Rocco stayed in regular communication with Fernando throughout the project to ensure it was implemented according to plan. In turn, Fernando did an excellent job to ensure his crew completed all aspects of the work according to the highest standards. Fernando kept us updated on the progress of work and frequently doubled-checked with us on certain design elements to make sure he accurately translated the design from plan to reality. He also suggested a few minor adjustments that significantly improved the translation from design to reality. Once the project started, Rocco stopped by and checked in every few days to ensure everything was going smoothly and to ensure work was proceeding according to plan and, most important, to our satisfaction. The project (19 July to 07 August 2023) finished on time, and both the process and outcome exceeded our expectation, which we set very high from the outset. The work â from demolition to site preparation to product installation â was completed at the highest level of care and craftsmanship. We were impressed with the high quality of work, particularly the installation of the artificial grass and the pavers. Even before the work was completed, passers-by said how beautiful the front yard looked. Since then, weâ ve received many more compliments on our new landscaping. We thank Rocco, Fernando and Black Diamond for an excellent, stress-free experience, and for giving us a functional, impressive, enjoyable front and back yard. I got pavers installed by Black Diamond in January. From the moment I met with their project manager (Rocco), I knew this was the right company for the work. Rocco prepared a 3D design, and we discussed options. Having someone design the final outcome was a big deal maker for me. Other companies provided quotes with no design, I was always wondering how it would look at the end. He also helped me getting an affordable option, so I could consider Black Diamond among other providers. Rocco also assured me he was going to be my point of contact and lead the project from beginning to end, which he did. He made suggestions along the way, which I really appreciated. Michael Martinez and the crew at Black Diamond were wonderful. Michael was in close contact from start to finish, and visited my backyard site regularly. The crew worked quickly but meticulously in creating two new staircases in my very steep terraced yard. It was not an easy job but the work was done skillfully and with attention to detail. The site was left clean. I couldnâ t be more pleased with the quality of the work that was done. I highly recommend Black Diamond!

I saw an add on TV about Black Diamond Pavers. I checked their website where most of the comments were very positive. I met Rocco. I found him responsible, knowledgeable and easy to get along. He always responded to my calls in time. I am extremely busy person and rarely home. I told Rocco he and his staff are on their own. They came in time and finished the assigned job in 3- 4 days without my supervision. I certainly trust them and if another project opens up I will certainly hire Rocco to do the Job.

Recently we had Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape install paver stones in our front yard. They did a fantastic job. After we called Black Diamond to get an estimate, we met with their Project Design Specialist, Jeremy. He sold us, not only on the package they would provide, but we were sold by what we usually don't see in many company representatives. It turned out we were right about his character. We expected honesty, dependability, flexibility and follow through. He met these qualifications! He responded immediately when we called him with questions, without exception. Edit to my last review: Be sure to understand everything about the area you selected and the work you had done. Because I rested on the professionals for advice and knowledge, I was left with a partially damaged area that I did not know could happen based on design (I am not an artificial turf expert). They would not assist without charging me. Be careful with the words of warranty on their work or products. Project Manager, Ryan, was just amazing. My backyard project was not the biggest or the fanciest, I had a budget and wanted to create something for my children to play on. Ryan and Black Diamond worked with me and made everything work out. He did not make me feel like my project was too small or that I could not afford to go all out - he made me feel like my project still mattered to them. I have gotten quotes higher and lower than Black Diamond, but at the end I chose them because they made me feel comfortable. They are not the cheapest or the most expensive, but honestly they are the best I have worked with as I have remodeled my home in different aspects over the years. And that crew that worked with Ryan - Rigo and his team, they were great.

Rocco and team completely renovated our backyard, replacing a couple of old, cracked, concrete slabs and some dirt/grass with a paver patio, seating walls, artificial turf, a pergola, and spotlights. Rocco was excellent to work with. He was very clear in his communication about schedule, materials, etc and helped tremendously in the design of the project. The only issue we had was discovered after the project had been complete for a few months, when the rains returned. The drainage outlet was too close in elevation to the patio drains, and water was pooling on the patio. A quick call with Rocco got that fixed quickly. The true test of a company doesn't happen when things go perfectly. It happens when things don't go perfectly and how they respond. Black Diamond aced this test.

The installers and final job were great. We were not aware when we signed the contract that all work was subcontracted. Product delivery was slow and communication about delays was very poor. We had a two-week period of about 30% into the project with no material and no notification or information. At home every day wondering if the material or people would show up. Thank God I work from home.

Jim Roberts had already transformed 2 front yards on our street when we hired him to do ours and they are all beautiful. The crew is knowledgeable and even came back a few weeks later to installed the fountain that arrived late. Jim answers all email promptly and a we had a horticultural visit too. We are very pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Black Diamond.

We recently completed our front yard and driveway renovation with Black Diamond Pavers and were assigned to their designer, Tyler and sub contractor Ricardo. After interviewing 3 other local companies, it was clear to my husband and I that Tyler was the most professional, knowledgeable and customer oriented. Tyler lives and breathes his passion. We wanted to be informed every day on every decision and Tyler and Ricardo were very available and responsive by text or phone call for every question or concern we had. Black Diamond is not the cheapest bid, but I do not want to imagine how our project would have turned out if not in the hands of Tyler and Ricardo. Tyler has a gift. He sees potential and beauty in the ugly. Our home was once a major eyesore... but is now the diamond on our street! Throughout the renovation and once completed, we have had cars stop in the middle of the street to gawk at our front yard as it went through its transformation. Many, many neighbors have dropped by to ask for the name of our contractor. The details and work ethic of Ricardo are evident in the walls, the driveway, the walkway and the softscape. They were also evident in how meticulous he and his crew cleaned up at the end of every work day. As with any project, unforeseen issues will arise and how your contractor addresses those challenges dictates largely how the client experiences the work relationship, the process, and ultimately the end product. Tyler and Ricardo demonstrated teamwork marked with integrity, honesty, and responsibility. As with any project, we had a few setbacks that could have soured the experience. However, with every issue we encountered, Tyler and Ricardo both took ownership of their work and responsibilities. We highly recommend them because of the gorgeous curb appeal our home now shows off. However, just as important was their trustworthiness, as that is what mattered when faced with challenges.

It pains me to need to leave this review, but I feel obligated to warn others to stay away. We hired Black Diamond in March 2020 for a significant remodel of our half acre property. New lawn, new plants, new irrigation system, and some hardscaping. Working with them was great, up until we signed the contract.... Problem #1: Sticking to schedule. We signed our contract in March for an anticipated start date in early May, and was assured the project would be done by end of summer. In late April, I double checked that everyone was still on schedule, and was told " We?re looking pretty good for a start date right around the target start date that is in the contract of 5/3. Worst case scenario it would be a start date the week of 5/10...". 5/3 came and went with no word. Then 5/10 came and went with no word. Despite emailing them in May, June, and July, all we received was vague excuses about labor shortages and material delays. We understood this has been an issue during COVID, but we don't understand how they switched from "we can start in 1-2 weeks" to a 3+ month delay. It was also frustrating because I demoed our preexisting landscaping myself in late April (after the above reassurance on the timing) to save a little money - so I missed a week of work and our home had no landscaping for the entire summer. On August 8, I emailed the company (and cc'd the owner) that we were cancelling the contract (which we were legally allowed to do on account of the length of delay). A representative of the company called a few days later to explain the delays and I reluctantly agreed to stick with them (yes, my mistake). They finally started early September - 4 months late! Problem #2: Delays during the project. I understand that material shortages and unforseen circumstances come up. But I don't understand planting new plants, then taking 3 weeks totally off (i.e. no one came to the property) before finishing the irrigation system that's intended to water those plants.

We can highly recommend Black Diamond. We recently had our very cracked driveway and front yard replaced here in Belmont, and they did an outstanding job. They developed solutions to elevation changes and drainage issues, and we couldnâ t be happier with the beautiful result. We want to give a particular shout out to Rocco Pent, who was our liaison and project design specialist. He was knowledgeable, thorough and just a pleasure to work with. He made sure everything went according to (better than!) plan and kept us in the loop on what was happening. When we ran into an issue, the Black Diamond team resolved it with great support and professionalism. If we have further hardscaping needs we will definitely call Black Diamond, and can wholeheartedly recommend this team.

We are so pleased that we selected Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape, Inc. to remodel our backyard. It was something that we barely used as it was in such disrepair and never had an inviting feel. But with the help of Rocco Pent from Black Diamond we now have an amazing look and feel and practically live out there now. Rocco was super easy to work with and the team finished ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to transform their outdoor living space.

Run away from this company. Our 6 week project is now a 6 month, never-ending saga of ineptitude and sloth. We started early in March - pavers and landscaping- simple job. Its now August and only the first task is complete. We picked Black Diamond from several bids based on their purported project management capabilities (lies) and size/number of teams (more lies) to finish by the beginning of summer, our most important goal. Black Diamond failed at every opportunity. It was almost comical. Ordering materials in advance for the next phase? Nope. Team available? Nope. Their accounting department could not even keep track and bill us at milestones- we had to remind them. Once they finally started, months later, it was a single worker and that was it. No team. Like one guy. Their operations department is a disaster. Their schedulers cannot produce a schedule for you. One schedule chastised me on the phone because I am embarrassed him by calling customer service and to track him down after repeated lack of replies. He claimed we had no options but to use them, after a expletive-laden tirade - because I had asked for our project schedule (he did not have anything). When we had finished with demo this and scheduler was absolutely clueless- he had no grasp of the project, what was complete, what was not, what was next, etc. Presently we are on hold yet again while they dither, waiting on landscaping- our scheduler had two weeks to follow up with us but that did not occur to him (to respond to repeated inquiries) and now he is on vacation. Apparently no one else can help. This company is a complete joke. They are rip off artists. Do not believe the sales pitch. All lies. The owner, should you escalate, is there to calm you down while, in the meantime nothing actually changes. We are filing complaints with the CA contractors license board. The designers, however, are quite good and responsive - ours is superb. Unfortunately, the designers are the

Hired Black Diamond for site prep and installation of two back yard brick paver patios and walkway. From first contact to project completion was about one month. Michael Martinez provided excellent design suggestions, supervision and communication throughout the project. Project consisted of a little demolition but mostly laying out and paving about 1300 sq. ft. of Belgard paving stones. Workers were very hard working and reliable. Job site cleanup was excellent. In summary, Michael and BD did what they said they would do in a very professional manner. I would certainly recommend Black Diamond to others.

We wanted to replace our concrete driveway with pavers and re-do the landscaping in our front yard (including installation of drip irrigation). We evaluated three companies and chose Black Diamond because Jim Roberts, our project manager, provided the most material concerning their proposal. This included a detailed description of how the pavers would be installed and an initial diagram of how our front yard would look and the qualifications of their installers. Black Diamond also has a horticulturist on retainer. Joan Lee came to see our yard and then developed a plan for low-maintenance, low water plants that included a variety of different grasses and shrubs that flowed from lower in front to higher toward the house and that bloom with a variety of colors at different times throughout the year. Juan Baez led a team of five to six guys that did the work. He was excellent and careful. He clearly knew what he was doing and offered suggestions along the way that made the project better. While I had a rough idea of how I wanted our driveway and front yard to look, I didn't really know what to expect. In the end, the whole project looks as good or better than I could have hoped. We have received numerous complements from neighbors and passersby, which we didn't expect. We are quite pleased with Jim Roberts' supervision and the work done by Juan Baez and his crew. We're happy to recommend Black Diamond to perform hardscape and landscape work.

We hired Black Diamond for demo, pavers, artificial turf and landscape - the whole front yard project here in Danville. We were very happy with the results, thanks to Michael Martinez and his team! We were impressed that the project proceeded on time and budget. You might find cheaper folks, but none with the experience, professionalism, and company resources like Black Diamond.

Before we started our project we vetted a few paving companies. We wanted the works- new floor, gazebo removal, electric line, jacuzzi installation, etc. One of the paving companies we even interviewed recommended we go with Black Diamond. So we reached out to them and ended up going with them. From the start the service was great. Rocco went above and beyond to walk us through everything, make us feel comfortable with our decision and manage the project to our standards. Jose and his team were also phenomenal. They were super quick. The project ETA was about 3-4 weeks and they were done in less than 5 days. The biggest hold up was on our end- trying to get an electrician to run a line under the pavers. We had excellent experience with BD. It started with Rocco visiting us at home. We explained to him our vision. He created it on software so we can better imagine final look. Once we finalized the design and the price Rocco and crew started the work. Jose and his crew came to the house to demolish old concrete, take care of the removal and start prepping for pavers and artificial turf. We can't be happier with Jose and his team. Very professional and very skilled. Border pavers need to be cut to match exact area and we had lots of curves which meant more hand work. While all this work was happening, Rocco was on sight daily to supervise and lend his professional feedback to crew. After they finished the backyard, we were impressed by the look and quality of the work we decided to do our front yard including the driveway. Rocco quickly mapped our vision to software so we can see it and do minor modifications. While crew were doing the final touches on the backyard, they started on the front yard. This is the second project that they have done for us, and we will surely use them again for any other project we have. My introduction to Black Diamond was observing work being done at Round Hill Country Club, Alamo, CA. As a curious spectator, I watched the construction process at the driving range and was impressed with the meticulous care that resulted in a spectacular finished product. When we decided to replace the large lawn at the back of our home, we interviewed four contractors.
