Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape Inc

The work got started in the last week of June and by the first of July, a new paver stone walkway and paver stone patio were done, however I disagreed that the job was acceptably finished because there was a 9"-to-5" drop from the walkway to the ground along side of it and it interfered with my next/door neighbors' access to their side yard. Three more home visits and several telephone conversations followed and finally on September 15, a resolution for those issues was agreed on and implemented, and this home owner is satisfied and happy with the result. I now have a beautiful approximately 15 foot paver stone walkway from outside the side door from my garage, leading straight and level to the gate to my patio. The ratings in this review are not easy to assess. If Black Diamond had completed my project as it was finally done in the first place, I would give the company an "A" in most of the categories. However, my experiences with the company in June and July were replete with problems in communication, coordination and supervision. My experiences in the last two weeks, however, have demonstrated that the company can do very professional and high quality work and be accepting and accommodating to its customers' input and particulars of the situation. Ernesto and Isaias did excellent work removing about half the elevated walkway, securing the remaining walkway, and restoring and even improving the original landscaping, and Columba did excellent project coordination. Because of my June-July experience with this company, my Overall rating is a "B", however based solely on the final project result, Quality and Responsiveness and Punctuality and Professionalism earned "A" ratings from me. I give Price a "B" because I remain unconvinced that I got the company's advertised discount for Angie's List members, but by the end, the price was agreeable and agreed to by me.

Michael Martinez (925-407-7050) our Project Manager and Designer out of San Ramon was the most proficient and detailed oriented project manager/ designer we encountered in our search for a patio remodel. His overall design and experience kept us within budget and provided a unique design with custom pavers to fit our landscape needs. We look forward to working with Michael again !!!!

Black Diamond Paver Stone & Landscape did an amazing job on our front yard. The results are beautiful. Michael Martinez designed our project and assisted in helping us choose the pavers that best suited our taste. Michael was in constant communication with us during the progression of the project. As different concerns arose such as drainage and placement of pipes, Michael addressed any concerns promptly and offered his suggestions. Once the project began, the crew worked endlessly 6-7 days a week. The prices kept as originally estimated with no hidden costs.

This review is for for Black Diamond, and more specifically for Amy Degan, who was our design specialist on the project. We couldn't be more happy with the final results. She was very responsive, and we had great communication throughout the duration of the project. All of our issues were addressed, and she really made sure that the design accommodated all our needs including the fact that we have young kids, so it needed to be family friendly as well as aesthetically pleasing. We received daily updates on the progress of our project via text message and photos. The crew worked tirelessly usually 5 to 6 days per week and were very professional. The project was completed much sooner than expected. We are particularly impressed with the 27 year workmanship warranty, and we chose Black Diamond because we know of the quality that they stand behind. Well worth it for what we spent, and we highly recommend Black Diamond, especially Amy Degan.

Shelia O'Fayhe was always quick to answer any questions or concerns. Just before the materials were delivered, we discussed what was to be done and made the final markings. Once the job began, things went quickly. Ernesto and Isaias laid the paving stones quickly and expertly. The demo team went above and beyond to remove roots and any obstructions that would inhibit a smooth, level walkway

Person came out looked at the project, said they would get back to us early the following week. We never heard from the company again, even after several emails.

We had three quotes, and Black Diamond's was competitive. Work was performed on time and to schedule. Follow-up was provided. Sime plants need to be replaced and Black Diamond said they would do that. Currently, we are waiting for plants to be delivered.

We recently purchased a house and needed our backyard re-designed. Richard Domanski came by and showed us several paver options for our 1000 square foot patio. Once we decided on Mega Lafitt, the project started on time and Richard came by every day to check on progress and answer any questions regarding design, etc. Angel Campos was the project foreman and his crew did a fantastic job, cleaning up at the end of every day. One word, Excellent. Joan Hernandez is the specialist+designer for designed and oversee the work. We are very happy with her design, professionalism and responsiveness. She understood our requirements, showed us her design with a 3d model and made many alternations, costing for many options. We went back and forth many times and she showed lots of patience and professionalism and help us to arrive at final plan. She even took us to garden supply few times over to guide/help us choose the materials, colors to match the scenery around. The work started on the scheduled day and completed according to our expectations. All through the process, Maria and her crew did a thorough job with all the meticulousness needed for the curved corners, rounded circle we had in the design with double border and all. Special shout out to Erik who was an excellent worker. Joan visited the site many times and have been in constant touch with us to address any issues changes we wanted. And the estimated cost is what we payed as well. This year we had the sitting walls to be clad with a thin stone veneer to match rest of the backyard. We went with stucco first time to reduce cost. So Joan gave us few options and worked with us to make our choice. She came with us to Garden Supply to check out many options to help us choose materials. Luis and his crew worked thru all the rain delays and completed the work last week. All through this entire process we are very happy with their office, esp. Julie who handled material orders and schedule. We always got almost immediate response either by phone or text messages whenever we wanted to discuss any issues or rework. I highly recommend Joan and Black Diamond for paving. We are very happy with how it all turned out. Overall, very satisfied with the pavers and walls. One thing that I am bit unhappy is with the plants and the drip system. The installed drip system is very spotty and lead to many plants did not survive. Joan is working on getting this reworked now, Will keep posted on how that will turn out.

I had my backyard done last year by Black Diamond. They were awesome from the start. Michael Martinez was fantastic. He made me a believer that all would turn out just fine. Well......it turned out better than i could have ever imagined. I had black pavers for the border and a black border around the fire pit too. To this day everyone that has come over LOVES it. I'm so happy I took the time to get my questions answered. I even made Michael tweek the design a couple times to as I wanted everything perfect. I highly recommend Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape, and especially design specialist and project manager, Michael Martinez. I had received 6 bids from various landscaping contractors over a one month period following a bad experience with a local landscaping contractor who caused extensive damage to my parents' property in Walnut Creek. It's a long story but needless to say I was never so grateful than when Michael showed up on a Monday afternoon, took his time reviewing the project and came up with a good plan and approach. We signed up and scheduled the work that evening; that's how much we trusted Michael and we were excited to get the project started. We ended up significantly expanding the scope of the paver installation project by adding a large patio, front walkway and porch, and some much needed drainage. Michael engendered confidence immediately--he's an expert in his field, he talked through various ideas with us, made good recommendations and he's a good listener. Most of the work was done in my absence since I live in another state, and I trusted Michael completely to get the job done right. He kept me updated at every stage of the project, really every other day or so. When I was able to see the paver installation in person this past weekend, it was exactly what I expected--a high quality paver installation done with precision, care and excellence. Michael was also very kind to my family and made a point of visiting with my Dad when he frequently visited the project to check on quality and progress. Sal and his team were also very good; Sal was flexible and came up with a good approach when we expanded our project; they were always on time, beyond professional, and kept the project going while dealing with this exceptional rainy season. Now that the hardscape is done, we have scheduled Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape, and specifically Michael Martinez, to design and oversee the installation of our landscaping. Excellent!! Once we had decided to replace our driveway, walkways and front porch we called several companies for bids. Turns out that Black Diamond was not only the lowest bid, but they were the best company, by far. Richard Domanski was absolutely incredible and involved in every step of the process, going WAY beyond our expectations to ensure that we were completely satisfied with the outcome of the job. We couldn't be more thrilled! We love our new driveway and front porch! Working with Richard was truly a pleasure throughout the entire process. We highly recommend that you call Richard. We finally decided to update our backyard's uneven concrete patio. After considering different options - wood deck, stamped concrete, & pavers - my husband and I decided with the latter. Our new patio is now functional and looks fantastic! We highly recommend working with Richard Domanski at Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping! From the initial consultation right up through to the final completed work inspection, he was very professional and extremely conscientious! Richard came by every day to check on the daily progress of our patio. The work was completed - from concrete demolition to removal of the pallets - well within the promised time frame. Richard suggested a couple paver colors and textures that would complement our house color and existing hardscape. It was a bit difficult for me to picture what the completed patio would look like in our yard. He went above and beyond by showing us driveways with the two paver options we were contemplating. So thrilled with our final decision after seeing a completed project "in person". The crew arrived by 8am, worked hard and efficiently throughout the day, & kept the backyard neat and clean at the end of every work day. We were not satisfied at all. The initial consultant came out and drew up the plans and we agreed to all the plans. Then the crew came out to do the work with little to no supervision. So my husband and I ended up having to supervise the workers, who in fact, made several mistakes. We got so frustrated that the company actually gave us like a 10 or 15% rebate back from the initial bill. But, the main point was that the construction crew had no supervision. They didn't even have the plans that were designed. One guy came out and he was titled their foreman. I think his name was Travis. He came out the first day and verbally went through the backyard with the workers and my husband. We thought everything was set and then he left. His excuse was he had several sites going on and he didn't have enough time to spend at each site. So, verbally, the workers were supposed to remember the plans and that is where it fell apart. In the end, the backyard is beautiful, but it took daily supervision by me and my husband. It wasn't a small upgrade. There were parts of the pavers where they actually were cutting other stone on top of the pavers that they had laid. There were big holes in the pavers. So we had to have them dig it up and redo it. We saw the representative from Black Diamond at the initial phase where we drew the plans and not again until the work was done and he wanted his last pay. The backyard is so beautiful, but the work that my husband and I put in to get it to that point was unacceptable. We did get several estimates from other companies and we regretted not using the other companies in the end. This was on the lower side. In the end we thought, "Wow, maybe we got what we paid for. We should have went with a better service." This is the first time we had done a remodel of the backyard, and so maybe our hopes were a little bit higher than what's out there in the market.

They showed up on time as promised and worked the job all 9 days in a row until completion. All questions and concerns were answered by Rob the designer and Marvin the foreman. We went with Rob's design suggestions and the results exceeded our expectations. I would recommend this company to anyone interested in paver installation.

I am not sure I can remember all the details for the entire scope of work as I had quite a few change orders. Rick Del Prete was the lead on my project and made himself available to answer all my questions in a very timely fashion, from start to finish, even during a stretch when he needed to attend a funeral. I was not aware of til after but was very impressed by his continued contact and responsiveness. I was happy they put a port-a-potty on site so I could keep my bathroom private. Rick was also on site just about every day to inspect the large amount of workers coming and going and held them accountable to finishing certain items by certain times. The only times he wasn't there was to attend a funeral. Black Diamond worked very well with my continual change orders and complex nature of having to deal with various other contractors coordinating different types of work to complete my project and even had to wait until I had my house was finished being painted and patio slider door installed before beginning the project. They also worked in lock step with my electrician. Originally the project was to take a couple of weeks and the progress looked like they were going to finish on time but then the El Nino rains came and ended up pushing out the project (as well as my change orders only added to the delay). I discovered I had some drainage issues. Rick and his team were quick to find a solution and make the necessary corrections and have not had any drainage problems since. The estimate was right in line with others and even a little higher but I was suspicious that the other contractors didn't hear exactly what I was asking for and Rick took the time taking detailed notes on my every ask. In the end I couldn't be happier and got exactly what I wanted with all the finite details. They were very patient and worked with me. Not an easy feat since I am very particular and demanding about the ways things are done and I will say it, I am a bit high maintenance. It is obvious Black Diamond values the customer and are willing to work with you, after all this maybe a job for some companies but I think they understand from a customer perspective this is an investment...

First of all- ?Kudos to Julie T and the Black Diamond team! ? An awesome job!! We quoted our project to several paver companies but we selected Black Diamond. Why? ?We were very impressed by the design concepts, product suggestions and costs that were presented by Julie T and Black Diamond pavers. ?Julie had a sensor of humor and was accommodating to our requests and changes and kept the costs competitive . ? Our concept drawings from competitors were hand drawn and lacked clarity- Julie provided a color CAD model with all details and itemized costs. Our job? ?We had ?larger job that consisted of ?driveway removal and replacement w/ pavers, and then removing multiple concrete patios on the side and back yard and also replacement with pavers. Start to finish, 4.5 weeks. The team at Black Diamon dug out, and seated 10" of gravel and then 1" ?of ?sand with pavers on top- ?all of this is done on top of a geo barrier to prevent sinkage. ?The team ran under ground chase lines (for future sprinklers and electrical). ? Yes, it is a messy process, but the BD paver team kept the site clean and well organized. ?Julie was key to our success, she stayed on top of our job with multiple visits during construction, and any (minor) issue we brought up were quickly and professionally dealt with. Our driveway is gorgeous and gets plenty of compliments from our neighbors. ?The new patio in the back is the center of entertainment and now a family gathering area. ?Yes!! ? Without question, ?we would call and/or refer any work to Julie and the Black Diamond ?team ?for any future paving?projects.
