Black Diamond completely rejuvenated our 23 year-old backyard. Our Black Diamond project designer, consultant and project manager was Michael Martinez. Our project involved over 2000 sq ft. of pavers, a fire pit, a fireplace, a putting green, LED lighting and a large covered pergola. Michael is a terrific designer and a wonderful person to work with. Michael’s crew, led by Irving, executed a high-quality job. We have been so blessed with our updated backyard and never get tired of the compliments we receive when friends and family step into our backyard.

We just contracted Black Diamond Landscaping to replace our concrete driveway, walkways, and porch with pavers. The results are beautiful and so well done! Michael Martinez, designer/consultant/project manager, was knowledgeable, took great care of us and was very attentive to our needs and desires. A shout out also for the crew, led by Saul, who were so professional and did such high quality work.

I cannot express how well it went. In today's world I was pleasantly surprised. My salesman, Keith Coburn was great as were his workers. Everyone was totally professional, thorough and polite. Keith kept me up to date on the progress and explained the process to me. The outcome was spectacular. When they cleaned up and left you could not tell anyone had been there. Very well. Our project included pavers to make a backyard patio, which is absolutely beautiful and ready for summer parties now. We also had another area transformed by large custom pavers and rocks. This area now makes me feel like I'm at the beach or lake front, so peaceful and beautiful. Our project started with meeting our Designer and Project Manager, Jean (Jeanette C ) We discussed what we hoped for and she gave us excellent advice on materials and improvements to our initial ideas. It was great having Jean as our advocate, both on the design end, but also making sure everything was to our satisfaction. Alex was our Project Coordinator, working behind the scene, but easy to reach and very helpful. He made sure there were no delays in the crew getting supplies so the work moved along efficiently. We had a hard working crew who were very experienced and knew exactly what they were doing

Michael Martinez is heading up my driveway paver project. He’s been extremely helpful and has helped with every aspect of the job. We had gate people from another company working along side and in conjunction with black diamond pavers and the process is going off without a hitch. I was expecting the project to take weeks and in one day they had almost half the pavers down and looking perfect. I shopped the price around with four other companies. You have to be careful comparing apples to apples. One of the leading companies out there, system pavers had comparable warranty, references and reviews. Tyler P. was excellent to work with. He understood what we were looking for and offered suggestions throughout the entire process. He initially presented 2 separate designs (the only company out of the 3 we got bids from that presented a formal architectural design), and allowed us to mould our choice to best fit our aesthetic and budget. As soon as materials came in, the crew was off to work and completed in a timely manner. Any questions or concerns were immediately addressed professionally and without fear of judgement or resentment. Once work was complete, Tyler did a formal walkthrough and got his crew out the next day for a minor fix. Overall, the process was extremely positive and I would highly recommend Black Diamond to anyone!

The quality of the design, materials, and workmanship were all top notch and we couldn't be happier. The crews were professional and friendly. Never hire Black Diamond for any type of service. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. They failed on all fronts even after repeated attempts by me to have them rectify the situation.

The crew was excellent, very timely and quality of work was outstanding. Martin Kerins was efficient, easy to work with, professional and extremely responsive. My only recommendation would be that the initial bid should include materials and labor as separate line items. This would allow change orders to be more easily understood. I would recommend Black Diamond and would also use them again.

Our family recently used Black Diamond to install a backyard patio. Project Manager Kelly Crandell did a great job with the design—suggested the paver style and color (which we love); and encouraged us to install walkway lighting and spotlights (which we also love). The installation crew, headed by Giovanni, was professional and meticulous with their craftsmanship. The Project Coordinator Brooke was available by phone to help with various paperwork and other loose ends. As with any construction project there were a few hiccups along the way, but the team addressed and resolved them in a timely and satisfactory manner. Highly recommend Black Diamond based on our experience with them.

Working with Black Diamond was amazing from start to finish. I worked with Kelvin for the design and project management aspect and he's top notch all around. Responsive, courteous, knowledgeable, great eye for design and what we were going for, and flexible. We got Saul and his crew to build out our backyard and side yards. This was a new construction home so the lot was practically empty so they were able to start digging up the foundation for the pavers quickly. Every time I looked at their progress, I was amazed at how quickly they were moving and the level of quality it was being done at. They left my house as clean as they could each day they worked, they were transparent about any issues or design changes they thought could improve the flow, absolute, true craftsmen all around. I hope my neighbors see the work they did and consider calling Black Diamond and their crews in.

This project went perfect! The designer Martin Kerins was very detailed and explained every step in the process. Once demolition was done it was thorough and careful. The Forman Martin Perez had a great team of professional, accurate, and quality team members. They were friendly and asked me all the time of how I wanted different details. Being a retired senior engineer, I appreciated the detail they asked me about. I interviewed two other company's prior to selecting Black Diamond. I am so pleased with the final result!! I am also pleased with the timeliness and beautiful quality. I will be hiring them for a future project

If you want a hassle free , beautiful landscaping transformation, you would do well to go with Frances and Reyes at Black Diamond pavers. Our job was just completed this week and we could not be more pleased. We can’t believe it’s our yard! It’s so beautiful! Our yard was unusable; we didn’t know where to begin. Frances came up with a lovely, family friendly design. She helped us select pavers and details to fit our needs and budget. Reyes and his team worked tirelessly and steadily to complete our project quickly and Frances made sure to oversee the work every step of the way. There were no surprises. It was my lucky day when I met Bruce Pressman at the Santa Clara Home Show. After sitting down with Bruce to discuss the extensive changes I wanted, there was no doubt in my mind that I was making the right choice putting my trust in him and in Black Diamond, a Diamond Certified company. Bruce's invaluable guidance and patience with my many indecisions helped me to create exactly what I envisioned. Bruce was at my house each day coordinating with Alvaro and his wonderful hard-working crew, who were here every day until the job was completed, no interruptions to take care of other jobs. My yards were spotless and beautiful when they were finished. Bruce designed a beautiful flow of pavers that connects the front yard to the backyard. I couldn't be happier!

Excellent experience with Black Diamond Pavers. I had them replace two concrete driveways after one of them cracked. The project manager and designer, Michael Martinez, was a unique combination of informative, easy going (no pressure), and meticulous. The prices were competitive and the design was spot on. I've received numerous compliments on the driveways from my neighbors. They send a full crew of 3 folks out and they work hard, use the right equipment, and are clearly professional. The crew leader, Juan, was especially helpful. Although they had all of the gas and water lines marked in advance, one of the water pipes broke (it was not buried as deep as it should have been). He was quick to inform me what took place and worked immediately to repair it while Michael, the PM, drove out to make sure it was fixed correctly. While a busted water pipe is usually not a good thing, in this case, it showed their professionalism and their commitment to taking care of their customers.

Black Diamond was fantastic. Fidel Gonzales managed the project and was a pro from start to finish. His design was perfect for what we wanted and was able to suggest some ways for us to stay in budget but still achieve what we were after. The work crew, led by Jose, was top notch. The quality is fantastic and they worked hard & long hours to minimize the actual time we were without a backyard. When I'm ready for the next phase, I will definitely call Black Diamond again.

We just had our front yard completely re-done by Black Diamond. We were lucky to have Oscar Daniel as our design specialist. He was very helpful in coming up with a pleasing design and a price that was far less money than the competition. We wanted our job started on April 4th and Oscar made it happen. Flor, our project coordinator, and her crew came as promised and worked steadily through the next week till done. They were very experienced and did a fantastic job paving our driveway and walkways and installing the synthetic grass. They cleaned up every day and did a lot of extras... fixed some broken pipes and made sure the water lines were properly re-routed. In fact, my wife liked the crew so much she fed them lunch each day. We are quite pleased with the outcome and want to thank Oscar and the Black Diamond crew for a job well done!

I was impressed by the professionalism of the Black Diamond team. Steve Blayney, my project manager, was on top of everything and thoroughly explained the entire process. He never over-sold anything, and often would point out tasks that I might get someone else to do at a lower rate. Eulogio and his crew did a great job on the installation. It got done quicker than originally estimated, even though I made a few changes during the process. Everything looks great and I could not be happier with the outcome.

We recently embarked on a reasonably complex backyard renovation which would involve multiple projects, contractors, the city (for permitting) and our HOA. We met with more than a dozen contractors with a full range of bids, and received a plethora of ideas on what they thought we should do in the yard. We wanted someone who could help turn what we wanted in the backyard into a reality. Luckily we were fortunate to meet Michael Martinez who is an award-winning Senior Project Design Specialist, Consultant and Project Manager at Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape. He was the final contractor that we met and he definitely lived up the saying, “saving the best for last”. Michael called before our appointment and kept us in the loop regarding his arrival time for our initial visit out of consideration for our time. Once we met Michael he immediately felt like a member of our family. He is extremely personable, honest and trustworthy with high morals and ethics. At our first meeting Michael took the time to get to know our family, strived to understand the goals and objectives of what we envisioned in our yard and how he could be a part of the solution to overcome some of the challenges in our backyard. He could see the bigger picture and presented design solutions to mitigate project challenges other contractors may encounter later in the job. Michael gave us a design that fulfilled many of the objectives to support the overall goals for our yard. He did an excellent cost to benefit analysis designing smarter which would allow us to get the best value. Considering the design, materials used, scope of project and Michael’s expertise, his bid was very competitive. He made me feel very comfortable, and I knew that the plan was in good hands. Michael checked in often and wanted to start as soon as we received HOA approval. While waiting to obtain permission from our HOA to begin, Michael met with his job foreman Juan and us several times onsite to walk through the project. He contacted our other contractor to ensure everything would come together at the end of the project. We met with him at a hardscape supplier to review our options. Michael is very familiar with hardscape products which were very valuable considering the scale of the proposed work. Receiving approval on a Friday, Michael and his job foreman Juan swooped in on the following Monday. Michael’s on-site crew was always on time and had an excellent work ethic. They started at 8am and concluded at 5pm daily. During their day, there was minimal downtime. We only noted two 15 minute breaks and 30 minutes for lunch. They minimized impact from heavy machinery and constant loads of materials coming and going from the site by covering where possible front yard landscaping with plywood. At the end of each day, Michael’s team would clean up which my neighbors appreciated. He checked in on site daily to ensure the project was progressing smoothly and to address any project concerns or challenges immediately. If we weren’t home he’d provide updates via phone or text. We never felt out of the loop and didn’t have any surprises due to Michael’s excellent communication skills. When weather didn’t allow for construction to continue, Michael’s crew would arrive and cover the site to minimize downtime. Michael always had our family’s best interests in mind. We really like that Michael handles every aspect of the project. We didn’t have to deal with a separate salesperson, designer, project manager, contractor or subcontractor; he manages it all giving us peace of mind. Having completed the first part of our project I felt compelled to write this review for the excellent five star customer service and end product we received from Michael Martinez at Black Diamond Paver Stones and Landscape, we highly recommend him. Slow but they did everything I wanted done, one of manager's who happened to live near me took over the project and would show up regularly to go over the progress.

Elton Pang the Design Specialist supervised the project from start to finish. Was very responsive to my concerns. Roberto and crew worked hard. Finished the job ahead of schedule. They were polite and helpful. My yard looks so much better, thanks to them.

The staff was very thorough and understanding when then followed up with me.

The work got started in the last week of June and by the first of July, a new paver stone walkway and paver stone patio were done, however I disagreed that the job was acceptably finished because there was a 9"-to-5" drop from the walkway to the ground along side of it and it interfered with my next/door neighbors' access to their side yard. Three more home visits and several telephone conversations followed and finally on September 15, a resolution for those issues was agreed on and implemented, and this home owner is satisfied and happy with the result. I now have a beautiful approximately 15 foot paver stone walkway from outside the side door from my garage, leading straight and level to the gate to my patio. The ratings in this review are not easy to assess. If Black Diamond had completed my project as it was finally done in the first place, I would give the company an "A" in most of the categories. However, my experiences with the company in June and July were replete with problems in communication, coordination and supervision. My experiences in the last two weeks, however, have demonstrated that the company can do very professional and high quality work and be accepting and accommodating to its customers' input and particulars of the situation. Ernesto and Isaias did excellent work removing about half the elevated walkway, securing the remaining walkway, and restoring and even improving the original landscaping, and Columba did excellent project coordination. Because of my June-July experience with this company, my Overall rating is a "B", however based solely on the final project result, Quality and Responsiveness and Punctuality and Professionalism earned "A" ratings from me. I give Price a "B" because I remain unconvinced that I got the company's advertised discount for Angie's List members, but by the end, the price was agreeable and agreed to by me.
