Our recently completed and extensive paving project installed by Black Diamond Paver Stones and Landscape, Inc. is an absolutely amazing transformation of the grounds of our home in Bel Marin Keys! The entire project from start to finish was professionally executed. We started by getting 4 good bids from competing companies and decided on Black Diamond principally because of their representative, David Weissenberg. David worked with us closely, particularly in the design stage of our unique and fairly complicated patio plan, and offered several ideas to perfect our design. He kept in touch almost daily and checked in weekly to personally inspect the progress of the project. His demolition and paving subcontractor, Juan Lopez & Co., were not only professional and competent, but the stone setters in particular (Pablo, Nelson and Hector) were excellent craftsmen who went the extra mile to make sure the end product was a true work of art with very close attention to detail and several suggestions to improve the overall look of the stonework. We are more than pleased with the finished product and the way the job was handled by all the professionals at Black Diamond especially David Weissenberg as VP of sales, Jaime Marquez as project coordinator and associate, Juan Lopez & Co. and would not hesitate to recommend this particular team to any of our friends and neighbors!

Black Diamond is excellent! Julie, our designer, was very communicative throughout the process - keeping us “in the loop” and updated on the process, included us in decision making, and truly listened to our requests. She designed our backyard oasis making it just what we envisioned. Rozival, our foreman, gave particular care to every detail making sure he didn’t leave anything unnoticed. Liz, the Coordinator, made sure everything was delivered and picked up on time - there wasn’t any evident delay. They finished the job in less time than originally stated, even with the changes we asked for along the way. We highly recommend Black Diamond to anybody who wants a detail oriented, very professional, and amazing results!

I am so thrilled with Black Diamond Pavers. We had read reviews of various landscaping companies and met with a smattering of them, but immediately knew Black Diamond was our top choice. We hired them to landscape our dismal, terrible backyard. Truly it looked like a scene from a Tim Burton film and the ground was as hard as concrete. Just look at the before and after – no need to label which is which. Emily contacted us and scheduled an appointment for us to meet with Sheila O'Fayhe. Emily followed up to make sure we were still available and Sheila showed up on time (I was so thrilled about that), shared samples of products and left us with various landscaping product booklets to look over. During our appointment, Sheila took the time to measure the space and provided an estimate based on our description of what we wanted. There were details we hadn't thought of that she kindly walked us through. And when we asked, she provided helpful, supportive guidance. I was also pleased that she listened to our budget and helped us make decisions that fit within those constraints. She was personable and delightful to meet with and quickly won the hearts of our pet rabbit and very timid dog. We personally had to postpone working with Black Diamond because of some issues with interior contractors, then COVID (btw – I have not had great experience with contractors, grrr). When we finally wrapped up the mess with our 4 week bath remodel turned 6 months, we contacted Black Diamond and they scheduled us within a few weeks of their peak season. Sheila and Columba coordinated scheduling and delivery of materials. Alfredo and his crew were assigned to work on our yard. The quality of work is AMAZING! Alfredo and his crew transformed our yard. And they were a pleasure to work with, They were polite, thoughtful with cleanup and asked questions to make sure they were meeting our expectations. We were very impressed with Sheila and Alfredo's attention to detail and quality materials. We ended up adding to the job a little and I appreciated Sheila's quick turnaround of change orders. Sheila is so buttoned up. She is very detailed in her work. Truly I wish I could have hired her privately to oversee our interior work because she does such a fantastic job of managing projects, and she is communicative but to the point. Towards the end of the job, Sheila walked through and examined the details, pointing out a couple of very minor things she wanted improved. I've never had a contractor who looked for flaws and committed to fix them. And truly, they are very minor details I would not have noticed. I also have been very pleased with the administrative part of hiring with Black Diamond. They make it easy to receive change orders and support making payments online. One of the best home improvement projects we've ever done! Lacy Valenzuela, her fabulous creative mind and the Black Diamond team helped us design our new driveway to match our home and the neighborhood. We constantly have neighbors that are out on a walk or driving by, stop and ask for a business card because of a job well done by Black Diamond!

I had the pleasure of working with Ray and Julie on a very tight-budget project, but I did not receive low -budget service, and my yard came out beautifully!! I received multiple quotes and had multiple interactions with different backyard landscape companies before going with BD, choosing them ultimately because of their authentic customer service during our first few interactions. I felt like they cared about their service and product and it made my husband and I feel confident to sign the contract. We never felt rushed or pressured throughout the process, and ultimately I felt that enough trust was built for me to give full reigns to BD to basically do whatever they wanted so long as it was within our budget. Ray is a patient saint, to say the least, e-mailing with me back and forth for literally over a year until I saved up to begin the project. And Julie was very helpful in picking out "investment" landscaping for our yard-- the bushes and trees will grow nice and big within the next few years, creating an private oasis my husband and I wanted since moving in to a house with a very exposed backyard. She also helped me nurse my lemon tree back to life, and offered to come back to learn more about what we can plant and how to take care of our future plant babies! We're so thrilled with our yard and cannot wait to see what it will grow into!

After getting quotes from several other paver companies, Black Diamond Paver stood out immediately. Julie Mohr was our Project Design Specialist, she had the perfect combination of professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. She listened to our needs and offered great design and material suggestions that fit within our budget. Unlike some of the other companies, she never pressured or bullied us into choosing anything. She geniunely seemed like a nice person who wanted to help us rather than just sell us something. When she quoted our project, I was impressed with her attention to detail. Her knowledge and experience shined as she offered suggestions to address the challenge of our sloping property line and her background in horticulture was so helpful when choosing the plants for our project. She actually met with us at green acres and made suggestions for plants to use in our project and how to maintain them after installation. She also met us at a paver yard so we could see all the materials in person before making our final descions. From beginning to end she was there to guide us and make sure the project was running smoothly. The Black Diamond Paver team was very professional and worked efficiently only during designated hours. We live in a HOA and the project ran very smoothly. Their workmanship was top quality and highly recommend them.

Our project involved a complete redo of our back yard, front yard and patio area. Kelly Crandell of Black Diamond met with us to discuss our needs for the project, our budget, and most importantly the type of greenery, trees, shrubs, etc. that we wanted. He went over the entire area that would be involved in the project and made suggestions as we went along. Afterwards, he sent us a proposed landscape design plan which provided a visual outline of his ideas. Based upon our desire for low maintenance and drought resistant plants, Kelly met with us at West End Nursery in San Rafael to go over his suggestions he had for specific plants. We were happy with his suggestions and incorporated them into the project. Once the actual work began, Gerber and his crew were very courteous, punctual, and professional. The work included the demolition of existing concrete, laying down new concrete, removing tree stumps, installing paver stones in the patio, placing stones along the boundaries, planting the shrubs and trees in the project, installing drip irrigation lines, laying down rocks in the designated areas, building four rectangular planter boxes, etc. We were very impressed with the quality of the work that Gerber and his crew did on the project. Working with our budget, we added some enhancements. Kelly promptly gave us an estimate on a change order so that we would know exactly how much each enhancement would cost. We appreciated knowing the cost of each enhancement so that we could decide whether or not it was worth it. Our yards and patio are now very pleasant areas which we can relax in and enjoy the greenery. In fact, the new patio is now the favorite play area for our fourteen month granddaughter. We were very pleased with the results of the work that Kelly and Gerber and his crew did. Moreover, we are considering hiring Black Diamond again for a future project. But until then, we will appreciate and enjoy the work that they have already done on our landscape.

Our house project was substantial, a complete redo of pavers and natural areas in the front and back yards. We wanted to make sure we had a reputable company that could handle the work. We selected Black Diamond who assigned Julie Tipton, Senior Project Designer. Julie was unbelievable!!! She is a gifted designer, knowledgeable about all parts of the job, and able to call on all the deep resources of Black Diamond. When we would hit a problem, she would use her influence and tenacity to work through the issues. Also, she made the project fun. I hated dealing with the house contractors but loved Julie. Her combination of humor and competency made her a joy to work with. If you're going to do a big project, Julie is your gal!!

I recently hired Black Diamond to redo the pavers in my backyard. When I bought the house, the previous owners used three different stone materials/patterns which didn't mesh and which looked very dated. The project manager and designer for BD was Michael Martinez. I had two other bids for the job but ended up going with Michael because he was head and shoulders above the other two company reps (BD was the high bidder but you usually get what you pay for right). His explanation of the project was very detailed and well thought out. He provided several completed projects close to my house that I could visit to see BD's quality workmanship firsthand. The project was completed on time and on budget. The communication from Michael throughout the process was excellent with all questions fully answered in a timely fashion. Most importantly, there was a drainage problem in one area after project completion which was addressed and remedied quickly. I was then assured by Michael that if any future issues arose, they would be handled in the same manner. I would strongly recommend BD, and Michael in particular, for any hardscape project you may have.

Since our family does not get along so well, we needed a landscaper skilled not only in his trade but also in working with people. Fortunately we discovered Michael Martinez of Black Diamond. He quickly produced a plan consistent with our aesthetic hopes and budgetary constraints and then patiently helped us remove junk that was blocking the start of the project. Once we got underway, when disagreements arose, he would take time to visit us and clarify what was feasible. From the getgo, Michael and his crew were committed not to take sides but to produce a beautiful yard that would please all of us. And they succeeded!

Black Diamond did a great job on our back yard patio project. We had them demolish the old, cracked concrete patio and walkway, replacing it all with new pavers. The end result was very, very nice. In particular, our coordinator, Ray Harrison, was fantastic! He stuck with it the entire way, visiting just about every day during the project to make sure the crew was having no issues. All in all we are very satisfied with Ray and Black Diamond.

I hired black diamond to build a small curb, some concrete steps, a BBQ island, a fire pit, and fountain for my home. They told me they could complete the project in 8-10 weeks, in time for a 4th of July BBQ in 2019. It's now December, and none of the BBQ grill, fire pit, or fountain are complete or working. I have never worked with a less-competent, honest, or timely contractor -- and I have done a lot of home improvement projects. Every few weeks, I get an email saying someone will be out at the house on Tuesday. Someone shows up, looks around, does no work, and leaves. Twice now they've sent me a "final bill" with the email stating "Now that your project is complete" and when I reply with "The project is not complete, none of the pieces work yet", they promise to send someone out and the cycle starts over again. The lack of organization, competence, and ability to finish the job is astounding. The lack of customer care is reprehensible. Horrible experience. Avoid this contractor. You don't want to your project to be in the incomplete and no plan to finish state that mine is in. Avoid this contractor.

We had a patio and driveway that needed a new surface. We chose Black Diamond because of David Weissenberg's very positive and professional attitude and his offer of a better product and price than his competitor! Throughout the job, David, along with his Project Coordinator Travis Thorson and our Crew Forman Juan Lopez were very easy to work with and did an excellent job. We made several changes in the original design and the crew handled that with no problem. Both the patio and driveway look amazing, and we've had lots of compliments. We are happy to recommend David and Black Diamond!

I live in Los Gatos and I decided gradually improve my front and backyards so I needed reliable partner. After a number of initial search, review, price/project evaluations I choose Black Diamond which satisfied all my criteria. I was lucky to meet their project manager Joan Hernandez who did a great job around my house and who is now driving the third project on my property. How it works? I explain her in simple words what I need with as much details as I can. Joan asking me additional questions or pointing to some details that I was not even thinking about. Then after 2-3 days I am receiving very detailed plan with pictures , measurements, specifications regarding the project. And the price. We discuss more details and then I sign our contract and pay down payment which is usually $1000. She is working with different crews - now I see the third crew. When their crew starts they first install portable restroom on my driveway and bring all materials and machinery they needed. They proceed very quickly. At some moment they have visit from special worker who controls quality of their job and the person makes measurement and fills out forms related to my construction. I remember the quality guy was discussing some aspects of the project and they been resolving some problems. I actually seen nothing wrong but I am not professional so I can only trust their quality evaluation procedures. As of now they did pavement of the area between front my house and front fence, side of the house pavement and additional drainage and now they are doing front yard complete landscaping. Excellent. Our project planner Joan did a detailed plan right off the bat and got me very comfortable with all the work which was going to be done, the costs, and the timing. Their team worked fast, all work was completed with high quality, and nothing was over budget or unexpected. If ever a problem did arise Joan was very responsive to getting it resolved.

The service of this company is complete. They provided a quote after discussions and a walk through of what we wanted. They had a person walk through the plant selection (and options). The gardeners were very polite and explained what they were doing. In addition after the planting they came back to replace plants which failed to take hold. I have no complaints.

Amazing work! These people are REALLY good at what they do. They were clean, professional, and went above and beyond! A+++ Ray was amazing - he did everything that he said he would and more, he was communicative (we received texts and email updates as well as personal phone calls to make sure we were happy with the process), professional, friendly, and caring. I can't say enough about how happy I am with they way they look. They were even caring enough to make sure that the surface was even with our ramp entry so my wheelchair would not "catch" when I rolled over it. Our job was a bit complicated, but they were efficient with their time and worked VERY hard! It was done in TWO days! I couldn't believe the transformation it such a SHORT period of time. I'm so pleased with the results! I HIGHLY recommend working with Ray and this company!

When we first moved into our home the backyard was a mess, with a retaining wall that was falling over and weeds everywhere. We knew we wanted a low maintenance yard but aside from that weren’t sure of what we wanted. We had a consultation with Lacy Valenzuela with Black Diamond and were impressed with her knowledge and creativity with what we could do with our backyard. She had a lot of ideas and came up with a design that we loved. The difference is incredible. It turned out better than we imagined. We are now enjoying our backyard. It is finally a peaceful space that we love spending time in. We couldn’t be happier and will definitely hire Lacy again when we are ready to fix up our front yard. Mr. Steve van Dongen is a knowledgeable landscape design specialist. He provided helpful suggestions on grass lawns, plants, decks, fence and hardscape. He referred an arborist for our overgrown trees and we would definitely consider his company for future projects.

Exceptional experience from my first meeting with Martin Kerins, Project Design Specialist, to all the work that was done by Benjamin and his crew. I have never had a project so thoroughly explained. Martin was extremely knowledgeable, clear and patient. His communication throughout the project was outstanding. Benjamin and his entire crew were prompt, skilled, hardworking and friendly. I am extremely pleased with all aspects of the project.

My experience with Black Diamond has been great. Their prices are fair, and the scheduling was quick, especially since we had our yard done during the busiest time of year. Lacy Valenzuela was our Project Design Specialist and all around contact with the company, and she was absolutely amazing. She came over every time we needed her and was endlessly available by email, phone or text very seriously every day, all day - even on weekends. She was extremely sweet, kind, and respectful, very clearly cared about and listened to what we wanted, and completely flexible when I requested changes to various plans throughout the process. She readily gave us experienced advice and suggestions on what to do with our yard based on our taste, but never tried to push us into something we didn't want to pay for. And, perhaps most importantly, in the end she delivered exactly what she promised at exactly the price she promised. She was just an awesome lady in general and I was so happy to have worked with her and Black Diamond on our yard project. We certainly plan on working with them for our future projects, and highly recommend them to anyone else!
