Better Water Heaters

Franz is the manager on the line and may be the owner. When you call in for a quote, his team responds immediately unlike the other providers. I had several issues with providers that could not quote my service because I had a special tank design on my 16 year old water heater. It got down to the wire before I had another big contractor job come in, and I was significantly relieved to find Better Water Heaters be so responsive. Their guys were flexible with my scheduling complications and treated me very well. Other water heater providers were not so nice about my issues and were basically not responsive when they came up against my challenges. These guys made it seem easy and normal to do my job. At first I got a quote for my specialized water heater in tank style. Better water heaters was not the cheapest, but again, responsiveness means a lot to me, so I chose them. They also quoted a tankless Noritz water heater and while it seemed a lot more expensive, I calculated the cost of the gas bills, the cost to maintain a water heater flushing it annually, and potential for water damage if something happens in my basement and decided that a tankless was actually about the same price overall. Better Water Heaters also told me they could use my existing lines to build out the Noritz. Other water heater providers said they would have to run specialized plumming to do the Tankless giving me outrageous quotes. Some even said they could only install it inside. Others said that the venting was going to be very costly. I talked to these guys and they were completely honest with me that they could use existing lines and venting, and would have to do some plumbing work, but not much, and that the Nortiz was more expensive but they found it was very reliable. They came in on time, removed the tank water heater quickly on my schedule. I didn't have to continuously call them. In addition, they came in on the date for re-install and worked on my schedule which was a couple weeks later. Everything was done quickly and efficiently. They were the best and easiest contractor to work with on my schedule. The guys working with them were all very honest and reliable and knew what they were doing. I asked them to install the Aquasana and if they could figure it out. I had no other plumbers to ask, and they said they could do it. Their technician came here and figured out how the units came together. He installed a bypass line at my request since we were having issues with some of the parts Aquasana sent. It was a good thing because the Aquasana unit could not work properly without the new parts and I used the bypass unit twice. Additionally, when doing the reconfigure of the aquasana, we could turn on the bypass, and not stop the whole house from having water. Very nice! The new parts were sent, and I rescheduled Better water heaters to come back. They did not charge me extra for installing the units correctly, and their pricing was fair considering that they needed to do the bypass lines, and used copper piping to connect the units. In the next couple days, I found that the aquasana item was leaking, and they came back the next day and fixed the leak and earthquake proofed all the lines that were installed, and turned up the heat on the Noritz unit since I wanted my water a bit hotter. They did not charge me additional for this work, and were very nice to make sure their work was quality. All the guys on the project were extremely nice, worked hard, made sure everything worked perfectly. So now, my water is heated to the right temperature, the water runs clean directly thru the faucet and tastes good, and has reduced scale. Microorganizms are also getting removed from the San Jose, CA water which is notorious for lots of scale and I'm not sure what is in it considering the drought. They were also willing to put everything on credit card too. Or check as necessary. I was very very very happy with the service from these guys. All were excellent, nice people. Extremely friendly. I worked with as many as 4 of the people during my scheduling and processes. All on time and very professional. I would use Better Water Heaters in a heart beat!!

Installed a new water heater. Old water heater was leaking. They set up someone to come out the next day (on a weekend).

Called them on a Monday and described the issue. They immediately understood the problem and were able to schedule the next day to go out. Took care of the problem in less than an hour. Excellent, but pricey results.

Work preformed without problems. Received suggestion to get hot water to my shower without wasting water in the process.

Provider measured water pressure at certain points, checked water flow into the house, reviewed piping system. Also suggested and estimated price for improving the flow. As I learned it was not the best solution and price.

Our 4 year old HWH, still under warranty could no longer keep the pilot light lit. Company said they didn't repair them and I'd have to wait from Saturday morning till Monday to be able to call Extended Warranty Department about covering anything. So I looked on Angie's list. My usual plumber doesn't handle repair of HWH so looked specifically for one that did, and found Better Water Heaters. When I called, he was very knowledgable about what would cause the pilot light to go out on our unit (sealed, and only 4 yrs old). Gave us a reasonable quote, and said he could come out the next morning. He arrived on time, and repaired it quickly. Replaced Pilot Tube assembly, and put it in position so burners light right away, rather than gathering gas and going Whoof when it lights. Definitely knows what he's doing, and is QUICK. Extra work done for the price he quoted.

We got them from Angie's List. What they did was fine. They seemed to do a very nice job. They gave us advice about putting on some other attachment to it that friends of ours had said that's a really good thing so it's nice to know. We didn't shop price. We didn't do anything because we needed it addressed and they were able to do it. The work was done and it was done cleanly, and it functions.

They came in and quoted me a good price, did a good job and explained a few things- it was no big deal. I was totally satisfied with it. It was a straight forward job- he came on time, was very efficient, explained things and actually I am happy. The price was reasonable.

I purchased a Big Deal with them and everything turned out fine.

That went well. They came out shortly after I purchased the deal and I wasn't charged anything extra. They did a standard drain and check to make sure there were no gas leaks and cleaned whatever needed to be cleaned. It was OK. I didn't watch them but they did a good job.

He did not mention anything to me about the possibility of the water heater leaking. He got the job done in about 30 minutes. The response was pretty quick and he came out on time. The deal was a waste of time because I had to end up replacing the water heater.

It worked out just fine. The price was the most reasonable in the area. I believe they did not call me to schedule the appointment for several days after I made the initial contact, but otherwise it was fine.

I purchased this deal for water heater maintenance and they were suppose to check a few things, like burner, inlet air filters, the water pressure and etc., and do a flushing. The service tech came for the service and only did the flushing. He was only here for about 10 minutes. I called to let them know my concerns about the service. They told me that they would call me back after they spoke with the service tech. Didn't hear anything from them so called them again with my concerns and they informed that is what the deal was for. This doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

He did everything as advertised and created a detailed list of what he found in the inspection. He also made recommendations for us to consider in the future.

They were very professional and called back right away. Repairman was on time, explained what he would be doing. He made some recommendations and gave estimates for a new water heater and also for a tankless water heater.

id the job and I was able to get back to work I went online to search for a plumber to install the thermal couple on my water heater. When I went to their site, I was able to chat with someone right away. Once I had given all my info, I was told the owner would call me back. To my surprise, the call came almost immediately. Frans was very familiar with my situation, since this problem occurs rather regularly with particular water heater. I was given multiple choices for when I wanted the plummer out the very same day. I then selected a two hour window and was told I would be called 30 minutes in advance so I didn't have to go home and wait. I was called about 20 minutes before the start of the 2 hour window, by the plummer who would be doing the job. He said he would be out in 20 to 30 minutes. I left work right after the call and managed to beat him by only a few minutes. He was very professional, making sure I knew the cost before he started working so there would be no misunderstanding. He did the job and I was able to get back to work. To explain how special this was, I need to tell you my experience with calling one of the plumbers on the list who had an "A" rating. First I was told that they would be able to come out the following day, but wouldn't schedule an appointment until the next morning. The would call between 8 and 9 am to give me a two hour window. They estimated the cost with the condition that I had gotten the correct parts as they didn't carry parts for my heater. There was no indication that they even cared about customer service. Yes, I pad a little more, a got plenty in return. I will go back to Better Water Heaters if I ever need any plumbing work done!

They were very prompt in scheduling this. I called on Fri and asked if they can come in over the weekend. The owner scheduled this for a 2hr time window between 10-12. My cell phone went out of battery and came up around 10. I got a voice mail saying if they could come earlier than my time window between 11 and 1 (not sure how they shifted that by an hour). I got a voice mail at 10:15 saying they will be here in 15. And they were here at 10:30. Mike was friendly and finished the flushing within 10-15mins. He did not do a regular flush but did a "power flush" because of the drought and all. Did not see much dirt on the other end of the pipe and we were doing this after several years of use. I asked him some questions about how water heater works and discussed about RO system possibilities etc. We had a great conversation. We started seeing yellow water with sediments later that day however. If you have a baby or you want to flush out everything in your heater, make sure you ask the company whether they are going to be doing full flush, I suspect that would have taken out more, instead of depositing the dirt in all the pipes in home. Otherwise wait for the drought to be over. We also saw air bubbles when using hot water - probably unavoidable with a power flush - I do not know. Not sure how much of the dirt resettled into the tank because our hot water usage cannot be as high as what would be needed to flush all the sediments.

It was average. It was okay. The guy was very pleasant. All in all, I would say that it was a good visit. He answered the questions that I had. All in all, it was pretty good. They honored the big deal I purchased. It was good and it was fine.

They arrived very quickly and did a very nice job with the replacement. The quote was higher than I expected but given the speed and quality of the service on a weekend, it was worth it.

Our water heater gave out and we began the process of getting quotes from plumbers to get it replaced. after almost a week of frustration trying to contact plumbers recommended to us and advertised as 4 or better stars on Yelp, etc., We joined Angie?s list and called Better Water Heaters as one of the companies to get a quote from. The owner, Frans, carefully ascertained over the phone our situation and asked questions about our existing water heater installation. He gave over the phone assurance of this base price and a probable total cost. They sent out a plumber to do the actual estimate and he arrived in the time window given to us. The price was within what we could afford and they could install next day. Since we had been without hot water for almost a week we hired this company and are pleased with the result. Johnny, who was our plumber for the job, was efficient and careful to install the water heater up to code and reused the existing strapping material etc. so the cost was reasonable.

Water heater maintenance was performed per agreement. I was not happy that water heater was drained into my bath tub. All previous providers of this service always ran a hose from the water heater to the outside. It has taken about 4 months for the water heater sediment to clear out of my bathroom drain pipes.

Excellent service. Provided loaner tank to use while new heater was ordered. Was always prompt and professional. Ensured all work was done properly.

The person performed the job was a nice person and answered some of the questions I had including the rust at the union between the water heater inlet and the incoming copper tube from the water supply. He thoroughly explained the benefit of tankless option offer the traditional water heater. He knows what he is doing and is punctual with a call 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled time. I have absolutely no complain about the person performing the work.

My old water heater had CO issues. I was told by the utility company that changing out the burner elements will solve the problem. However, the water heater company rep. who came did not seem to offer many solutions or even diagnose it. Seemed inclined to replace it rather. Anyways, since I needed hot water heater soon, I decided to get it replaced through this company. The only thing I noticed was he was a bit skimpy on a few safety issues. Overall, the job turned out good.
