Working with Hash and the team at Bay Area Fireplace was a great experience all the way through. It started in their showroom - we explained the scope of work we needed done - we looked at some samples and talked with the rep in the showroom to start getting some design ideas. However, the real design work started when Hash came to our house. Hash listened to what we were thinking and then he shared some great ideas based on his experience - he was very personable and never made you feel rushed or pressured for time - when you hear him speak and give suggestions, you know he is very experienced and knows what he is doing - you have full confidence in his capabilities . We locked on a design, he came back within a week with a 3D rendering and very detailed quote. We quickly closed on the details and the pricing - there was no need for drawn out negotiation back and forth as his price was very fair and clear from the beginning so no feeling ever of trying to be taken advantage of. They were booking 45 days out, they gave us a start date and they stuck to it. They showed up on time with a full crew of folks - at one point there was 6 people hustling on the job. They worked non-stop for two and a half days to finished the job exactly when they promised they would. They took great care to cover all our furniture and the work area to keep the dust to a minimum. They cleaned up really well after themselves. The best thing however was the final outcome - the remodel work was simply awesome - the detail and attention to quality was fantastic - we could not be happier with the whole experience start to finish. I actually have Hash preparing a quote for additional work I need done at another property. I can't say enough positive things about the team - highly recommend them! His nickname I understand is Dr. Hash because he truly is a professional craftsman that cares about what he and his team does. Jason.

These guys are the ultimate in customer service. I've called no less than 17 companies to fix my gas fireplace insert. Two companies made me wait weeks for an appointment, but couldn't fix it. One showed up, diagnosed something that I needed to follow-up on with the manufacturer or it would cost me $1500. Others didn't answer the phone, which is fine, but it was annoying that I sometimes waited a full day before getting a return call. These guys answered the phone and asked questions no one else asked. And when I asked for a repair as soon as possible they told me and quot;of course, if we can't get one of our full-time guys there within 24 hours we will find someone who can be there for you.and quot; And they did just that. Later I received a call back, set an appointment, and fixed my fireplace. Turned out it was about 3 different things. Nice work guys. And thank you so much for your quick repair.

I wanted to inclose my old fashioned open fireplace so the family room would be warmer for my elderly parents who spend most of their time in there without heating the whole house. The saleman explained why the unit I bought was the best for me and then bought my father and I lunch at the restaurant they own next door. (good food) They called and came out the next week and measured everything and explained the installation cost. The next week they gave me a date for the installation and the workers showed up a little early and were done in 2 hours. They cleaned up and were gone after explaining how it worked. We love it! The only complaint I have was the fact that it cost $1400 to install the gas line and insert which I think was a little high for 2 hours work for 2 men.

I was needing to replace the doors on 2 fireplaces and they ordered the doors, came and removed old ones, and installed the new doors in both fireplaces. The took great care of me and I was impressed with the fact that they came early, the installation was prompt, and completed quickly. The did a very good job and would use them in the future for any fireplace needs.

The Bay Area Fireplace (BAF) showroom was good, offered a nice variety of fireplace insert options. The sales staff was knowledgeable and helpful both in person and on the phone. Installers did not come for a pre-install inspection as agreed on, but merely called to confirm my hearth and fireplace measurements. Upon arrival on jobsite, the day before Thanksgiving, they found insert was too small for the fireplace opening. We as owners were asked at the last minute for bricks to raise the insert. The workers stacked unsecured bricks together and plonked the insert on top. They used decorative metal facing/trim to hold insert in place and used one large dab of plumber's putty to secure the facing to the brick. When we asked if this method of installation was secure, we were told that "it's always done this way." Our electrician left a low voltage wire available for the fireplace insert fan and starter. But their workers did not connect the wire to the fireplace electrical system and so the heater fan did not work. When we called our electrician to come connect it for us, he was shocked that the insert rested on such a wobbly, unsecured platform that when he partially removed the facing to wire in the fireplace, the stacked bricks shifted and caused the insert to lean to one side. We called BAF to report the problem and ask them to come to fix it. We were told that the staff was too busy to come out until after the new year. Worried about seismic safety issues, we had our own masonry person epoxy the bricks together onto the base of the hearth. After several unpleasant unproductive phone calls to BAF, finally threatening complaints to the Better Business Bureau if they did not resolve the problem before Christmas, they came out to connect the hearth wiring to the low-voltage wire, strap the insert to the raised brick base and properly secure the bronze-toned facing/trip to the front of the fireplace. The insert looks nice and works fine now...but it took us a lot of aggravation, effort and extra expense before the job got done right.
Description of Work: Installed a direct-vent gas fireplace insert into my existing brick fireplace and hearth.
