Bay Area Fence sent out an estimator to give us estimates for a variety of services: we wanted to replace a 31' section of fence that was falling down, but also wanted to get the price to add privacy lattice to several other sections in our yard. The estimator was very helpful, breaking down the different cost options and making recommendations to help us make the best choice. They also offered to work with our neighbors to split up the billing if we chose to do multiple sections. We ended up only doing the 31' replacement at this time: redwood fence with a privacy lattice. They scheduled the work for the next day, and the workers showed up right on time. They worked quickly and professionally, finished the fence replacement within a couple of hours and completely cleaning up the job site when they were done -- you'd never know they had been there. The new fence is beautiful and very well built. We're quite happy with the final product.

Their quote was at a reasonable price. They broke out the price for each of the various shared sections of fence, so that each neighbor could easily calculate our contribution. After the quote was accepted, they showed up within a couple of days to start the work. The work was completed very quickly (two days or so), and with a high degree of quality.

They gave us a good quote. They were very efficient about doing the job. We were happy with the outcome.

They came when they said and they did the job. It was very nice. They were the cheapest of all the people. It was $22 a foot. They cleaned up when they were done. It was difficult communicating because we did not speak Spanish. There was one thing that needed to be fixed and they corrected it right away. I am hoping to use them again.

I had a foot gate installed in my fence line. Everything they did was fantastic. They had a crew there the next day after I called and by the end of the day they were done. They were very good on price. I would use them again.

I accepted their bid on Friday, and was going out of town on Monday. I thought that the job would be done while I was gone, but Bay Area Fence and Deck told me it would be no problem to do the job FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE over the weekend. They finished the majority of the work on Saturday, and did the remaining finish work and cleanup on Sunday. I was impressed. I have had several neighbors compliment me on the appearance of the fence and ask for the contractor's name.

They were extremely professional, punctual and efficient. The first time they came by, did an evaluation and gave us a quote. When we decided to move forward, the first day they brought all the fencing material and set things up. They next day they worked all day and finished the job. It was all completed to perfection, the wood quality was very nice and the hinges/latches were very well installed and work perfectly. We would certainly use them again.

I never heard from the company again.

Good job, quick work, cleaned up the work area very well. They have returned a few times to replace some split boards, and did a good job. The only thing I didn't like is the cheesy string used to open the gate from the outside (the locking mechanism is on the inside of the gate). I wished they would use a sturdy lock mechanism that can be opened with a firm mechanical structure.

The estimator was very prompt and friendly. Because the cost of this fence was to be split with me and two neighbors, he was willing to write up the proposal in whatever way was most convenient, either one proposal for all three sections, or three separate proposals. The price was competitive. The work was done in two days, and looks pretty good, though the gate doesn't close itself. There was significant damage to one section of boxwood hedge where the workers walked through (not a lot of options, really), but otherwise the plantings survived. What was disturbing was my discovery that a large amount of unused, dry concrete mix had been dumped at the base of a maple tree. Had I not discovered it and removed it before it leached into the ground, I suspect it would have killed this maple. Inexcusable that somebody should have done this, and the supervisor not have noticed it on a final walk-through.

Extremely frustrating -- I don't want to do business with a company who isn't interested in delivering a service without a lot of excuses and who doesn't have all of their employees working from the same page. I found the woman answering the phone to be very unprofessional and extremely resistant to doing business with me. My experience was so bad from the get-go that I will never call them again and will find someone else who wants this job.

I called Bay Area Fence to schedule an estimate. They scheduled a time but the guy, Jack, could not make it. I had to call to find out. He did come out and did the estimate later on the same day. The estimate was clearly stated the measurement and materials required. They required 10% down as deposit before any work would start. They are not the cheapest one but it seems that they had good reviews. So, I decided to choose them. I went to their office to check out the company. The workers came on time as promised on that day. They are very professional. One of the guy even gave me suggestion on what is the best way redo my gates. It took them one morning to finish both gates. The workmanship is good. They cleaned up after they were done. They are very professional and polite.

Great. This is the second time we've had them provide us fencing (our neighbors have too) and it always goes great. These guys are mind-boggingly fast, experts at what they do (produce strong and attractive fences), fairly priced, very professional, and neat. I can't say more.

It was a pleasant experience from the estimator and the crew that installed the fence. Everyone arrived on time. The estimator was receptive to my questions and offered alternatives when necessary. He was knowledgeable of their inventory and offered an upgrade on the wood selection at the special price. The company also contacted PGand E, SBC and the water company for identification of their utilities. The work was scheduled within the week and the crew arrived right on time. They were very quick, clean, quiet and exacting with their work. We are very pleased with the fence.

It was very good experience. They did what they said they would. The clean up afterwards was amazing and I was very happy with the quality of work. They are a great company in my book.

The work was started promptly as scheduled. The crew of three worked efficiently and finished within a day. They left the work site clean. Bay Area Fence is not the cheapest, but they deliver one of the best quality jobs with the best materials I've seen.

This is the second fence BAFD has replaced for me (the fence on the other side of the house was replaced in 2004). On both jobs Steve Ha inspected the existing fence and provided a very professional and detailed estimate of the work required. I found BAFD's prices to be quite reasonable. The work was started on time as scheduled. The crew of three performed the work professionally and efficiently. They left the work site spotlessly clean. I am very pleased with the new fence and plan to use BAFD again to replace the last section of old fence left on my property.

It went extremely well and we're very happy with fence, gates, arbor. Very nice people, very easy to deal with. They offered an over-the-phone quote, we asked for that plus a site visit. BAFand D came out to our house within two days (they were very busy due to lots of fence-down-from-strong-wind business, in fact cut short their holiday break to return to work early), gave us a quote on replacing the fence. We asked for a separate quote for an adjacent arbor on which we would grow a potato vine for privacy (the old fence had supported a potato vine, which made it easier for the wind to blow over). Michael provided detailed, final quotes on the spot. We accepted the fence quote on the spot and gave him a 10% deposit. We took a few days to consider the arbor, then accepted that and mailed in a deposit. Michal was very nice, easy to deal with, very knowledgeable about the work. Crew was nice, polite, professional, fast, efficient. Initially two guys, then a third, then two more throughout.

I called a number of fencing vendors from Angies List, looking for a good price and a crew who could do the work the next day (12/28). Bay Area Fence and Deck not only quoted the best price (over the phone, subject to the estimator's measurement of the fence) but could get a crew out the next day. Despite calling them late in the afternoon, they were able to send Mike the estimate over that evening, and the crew to do the work the next day. The crew came earlier than they had promised (which was fine by me), hauled away the broken fence and installed the new fence (matching the existing), very quickly, and efficiently. The new fence material and workmanship is very good! I would recommend Bay Area Fence and Deck for this kind of project, in a heartbeat.

Bay Area Fence was great to work with. They promptly set up a date to have Steve Ha come and and give me an estimate and look at the job site. A month went by before I got back to him but he still honored the quote and then was ready to do the job within 7-10 days. However, they had a cancellation and fit me in within just two days from contacting me which was great. Fence looks great. The clean-up was wonderful. I would highly recommend them.

Great experience. The original estimator was not that bright (he let our neighbor's dog out and watched him run off). Second estimator sent for quote on additional gate was better. The foreman and workers were prompt and asked good questions when there were choices (e.g., Did we want to match the neighbor's fence height?, Did we want step or additional boards for the sloped side?). Work was fast (2 days) and yard was properly closed up overnight as requested. Workers cleaned up pretty well at night and when job was finished. Pricing matched that of 3 yr old Fremont Fence company estimate.

When I called to schedule a bid, a startled woman answering the phone on the other end replied, ''Alameda? We don't go to Alameda. We're in San Jose.'' But they're called ''Bay Area Fence and Deck'' not ''San Jose Fence and Deck.'' Alameda is in the center of the Bay Area, right? This company could have won Brownie points by referring me to another company in my service area.
