- tl;dr summary: This company did not do a good job replacing our HVAC unit and duct system. Other contractors who have looked at their work have said so. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. - Why think twice about choosing this provider: 1. They are not listed at Better Business Bureau (aka, and quot;BBBand quot;) of San Jose. 2. Their business address does not match up with their contractor's license information as pulled from the California Department of Consumer Affairs Contractors State LIcense Board. 3. Since a new HVAC unit plus duct system replacement was necessary, that should have triggered a and quot;Manual Jand quot; load calculation to be done. Nope. 4. We were told that he would treat our house as if it were his. We have a louder system than before. My son has his sleep interrupted because of the noise the new system makes. Somehow I feel like it's not supposed to be this way. 5. Regarding the noise, the company just gave up after coming out multiple times to address the noise issue. We called other contractors to take a look at the work and at least one contractor said that the installed unit is too big, and the duct system was improperly designed. - The details: Our HVAC unit died during the great freeze of 2013. We panicked and called a few HVAC contractors to come out to our residence and give us a quote for how much it would be to fix it up. Only this company had agreed to come out and take a look at nighttime. He looked at our unit and told us that it was very old, and had advised that instead of repairing the damage, that it would be more cost-effective over the long run to replace the unit. Because of how the unit went bad (it combusted internally), he also advised that we should replace the ducts because of smoke damage. He quoted us the above approximate price. We thought about it, and agreed because we have two kids that shouldn't have to freeze to live. We agreed upon an appointment time (which was the next morning) and a payment schedule, then he left. The next day, they arrived late. Apparently the vehicle towing the replacement unit had gotten into a traffic accident; its registration was expired so the vehicle, trailer, and my unit were impounded. He had to scramble to get another unit. The original replacement unit was allegedly the same size as the unit that went out; the newer replacement unit was a larger unit -- he claimed that it would cool and heat more quickly. That day they installed the unit, and the following day they tore out the old ducts and installed the new ducts (they were late again). When they finished the installation, they turned on the heater and did a quick test to see if hot air was coming out. Since it was working, the job was declared done and they left. We had some issues with the air flow, and brought it to the company's attention. Someone came out and made adjustments to the ducting to redirect the air flow. For the most part that was addressed, but overall the air flow through the registers was still stronger than before. Then we also noticed that the system was louder. Not just the air coming through the registers, but that there was a large rumbling noise in my son's bedroom. We brought that issue up to, and they came out multiple times but could not figure out why the noise was happening. They even installed rubber pads under the unit to try to isolate the rumbling, but it did not work. Even today, sometimes the noise is there, other times it is not as pronounced. My son wakes up and come sleeps in our bed sometimes! They basically gave up on trying to fix this issue by telling us that they would charge us the next time they came out! We were so fed up with this system that we called a different HVAC contractor to take a look at our system. He inspected it and said that: (a) the unit is too large for our house, (b) the duct system was not designed correctly (which would explain the air flow difficulties). End of story. Now that I think back on this, there are quite a few things that I would have done differently. - Lessons learned: 1. If you find yourself in a similar predicament, do a Google search for and quot;finding a good hvac contractor.and quot; The ACCA has some good stuff to say. 2. If your family has to freeze, let them freeze. Or at least go to a motel. Or go to a hardware store and buy a portable heater. A good install will be worth the money you spend in temporary lodging. 3. Read #2. And then to add to it, interview at least three companies before settling on one. Prior to the interviews, read up a little on HVAC. Figure out roughly how many BTUs your house needs. That was our first mistake. 4. Don't believe that because other reviewers gave positive reviews, it will be the same experience for you. Who knows, you may read this review and go for this provider anyway, and it may be a good experience. Caveat emptor. 5. If nothing else, don't get a unit that is bigger than what you need. There's a reason why the previous unit was sized the way it was.

Javier completed all the work in one day. He brought a big enough crew to get it done. He was prompt and efficient and answered all questions. The old ducting was decades old, and he explained everything. Everything was left completely clean when they were done. He showed me pictures of the ducting before and after, so I knew exactly what was done.
Description of Work: Removed old ducting (with asbestos) in attic and replace with wire flex Replaced old ducting under house - hard pipe with new wire flex Cleaned out returns in house Replaced furnace filter.

All Fresh Temp is a family run business and they take a lot of pride in their work. Ramiro Lopez is the salesman and after inspecting our heaters and ducting explained what needed to be done. He advised us about the best equipment and installation method to fit our needs and spent a lot of time explaining his recommendations. His recommendations were sound and consistent with what we knew about our system. He did not pressure us into a decision, but listened carefully to what we wanted to have done and gave us an estimate immediately. He always promptly returned our phone calls. His brother, Javier, and his nephew are the installers and worked quickly and carefully. . We are very happy with their work. They are knowledgeable, skilled and pleasant to work with. They have over 15 years of experience. We would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They replaced two furnaces and the entire ducting system in our home.
