Tried to rip us off

Everything went well eventually. During the first visit from AAA Mike Counsil plumbing, Thomas informed me that I needed to have the area cleaned thoroughly by a professional due to the large amount of sewage that had spilled into the crawl space. I went ahead and used Angie's List to find that company as well. Once cleaned Thomas came back and replaced the broken pipes in a timely manner. All in all it was a very good experience that I had with this company. I left a message after hours at the office and received a call back first thing the next morning. All people I dealt with were polite and professional. The price might have been a bit higher than some others but at least I know the work was done right. I was very satisfied overall.

We called the company late Friday night and spoke with someone on Saturday. The plumber was available Saturday to give us a complete quote. He was very knowledgeable, and took his time to walk the entire house to explain about the requested work. We were very please and comfortable with the company. The estimated cost of the repair work was beyond our budget so we could not have the work done by this company. Although, we do feel that they would do an excellent job.

They were great! He did a good job.

The guy that came out was a great guy. He worked down in the basement for at least three hours installing the pump. I was very pleased with the quality of the work as well. The price for the service was very good.

I would not recommend "Mike Counsil Plumbing". I would however highly recommend another plmbg co. They were very honest, experienced,friendly and economical and got the job done.

We had several other plumbers flake out on us. We found Mike Counsil through Angies list and used a $25 discount coupon from the site. Ray was running late so the company called to let us know. He spent a lot of time working with us to understand what we wanted and to see how complicated it would be. The gas line was the most complicated item since the existing line had to be replaced with larger pipe along the house and then run under the crawl space to the kitchen stove. Ray came out on a Saturday to do most of the job and finished the following Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). Without charging us, he changed the old water sediment filter at the side of the house that was green and slimy. We did not realize that was filtering the tap water as we are new owners of the house! He purchased the proper filters for us to use going forward. Everything happened when he said it would for the exact price he quoted. It was like having our own personal plumbing valet for 2 days!

We had a kitchen drain back up into the sink and were able to clear it ourselves however I wanted a plumber to check it out and make sure that there wasn't any continuing problems. I also wanted to make sure that the pipes were connected properly ( my husband is a programmer not a plumber). The service technician arrived 1 1/2 hours after I called in the AM. A phone call was received confirming his arrival and subsequent to his visit. The technician was very courteous, thorough and professional. All of my questions were answered.

He did really good work, but he was very expensive. The job only took him two hours and he charged me five hundred dollars. I would use him again, but I would want a price quote before he even started the work. He did give me a price quote for this job before he started any of the work and I told him to go ahead because I really needed the work done. The quality of his work was very good and I have not had any problems.

The water main from the street to our house developed a leak as soon as they completed work and turned the water on. Upon discovery of the leak, the technician informed us of the situation but could not provide us with an accurate estimate to repair the leak because he had not dug out the area to determine where the leak originated. He did say it would be $1800 to replace the main line with copper, but we were concerned about the possibility of the leak having been related to the repipe work. We expressed this concern; however, the technician was not authorized to reduce the cost and did not call the main office to obtain an approval. With the pricing being so ambiguous, we did not feel comfortable having him complete the work on the spot. We ended up going a few days without water before we could not reach an agreement to have the work done.

After careful investigation, Tom sized up the re-piping problems I faced with great knowledge as how to proceed. This was after I had 5 other vendors for the same bid. I sensed right away he would walk the talk, so-to-speak. There were some unforeseen problems. My house was built in the 1920s and had 21st century problems. I saw the logic of his resolutions and we proceeded. It was well worth it. I've got water, water pressure, pipes and plumbing that will outlast me. As a single female, I was very wary of 'being duped'; however, felt I could trust this company. One has to start somewhere. And communication is key. As far as the 'unforeseen' problems, I felt they were legitimate. Often until one gets into the nitty gritty, does it reveal itself. Not once did I have misgivings about whether I was doing the right thing. With prior contractors, I've always had that worry. I trusted my gut instinct and happily the project went well.

It went very well. See above. I would recommend them. They also called back to see how it went. Great customer service!

The job was completed on time and within budget. The workers that came to our home were professional. They were prompt, clean and polite. Each day, they left our home clean and the water was turned back on so we could use it even while the job was still in progress.

Richard spent time here writing up the full quote. It was detailed & relatively itemized. I really appreciated that he would give us an on-site quote that was detailed to what we were talking about. The only thing was was that his quote was REALLY expensive. It was an additional 70% more than the second lowest bid.

When Steve came out from Mike Counsil Plumbing, he was very professional and did not try to push his services on me. He also let me decide if I should replace the entire copper piping. He did an excellent job, and I would recommend him to our friends and family.

Tech came out. Looked at the water heater in garage. Explained to me what had to be done and gave me the price. Wasn't a bad price. I'd rather pay more and get good quality than get one cheaper and have it break. He went to get the parts came back in no time and got it done. Very pleased with job. He cleaned up after himself and that was it.

Very professional, did a good job, very through. Price wise I was totally ripped off. I was under the gun because the toilet was leaking and I live up stairs. When I told the guys at work how much I paid for it...They said it could of been done for $500/$600 at the most. I'm dealing with it.

They responded to a request to add a water line for a refrigerator. They were on time for the appointment and gave a reasonable quote and were the only company willing to meet the time constraints for the job. Gave them the go-ahead on the spot and Steve went into the crawl space to begin work. He emerged after some time and showed me a picture of another pipe that had a large hole in it and some water had puddled in the area where he would have to lie to install the water line. He gave a quote for the repair which seemed somewhat high (they use a national average rate set), I agreed and about 5 hours later the job was done. He called on an associate to make sure the job was done easily and correctly. They cleaned up and any time they were in the house they had shoe coverings so as not to make a mess in the house.

Very efficient company, plumber sent gave me a thorough inspection prior to bidding my work.Although this company was my first of 3 bids that day. I felt no need to continue with the others company's, due to feeling very confident in the plumber Mike Counsil sent me. Great work. Work was done very quickly and professionally.

Sat 1pm: Discovered leak into crawlspace 40' upstream of toilets. 4pm: Found Council, who would come in .5 hr (1 hr). Tom crawled in, came out caked with mud, quoted the job, & asked me to go to Home Depot for a new vent cover since he'd be removing the screen to pass tools and materials through; I should plan to stick close to do the passing. Sun 9:30 he arrived with the parts (from Home Depot, including new vent cover, but he used mine instead). He heaved the furnace duct upward as he crawled under. (I'd gone a different route to take photos of the damage Sat night; had no need to move duct.) I stood by, passed stuff in & out, & got things from the truck. By 12 he was inspecting for leaks. He emerged & asked if he could put his muddy clothes in our trash. (He took the excised pipes and his clothes with him.) Before I signed, I asked if he still thought $1,375 was a fair fee. He said he hadn't worked a Sunday in a long time, and I saved a ton by not having to dry it out first.

Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Found the plumber to be very polite and professional. Made one mistake while installing, but fixed it immediately. Cleaned work area afterwards. Left additional parts for refrigerator hook-up.

The estimator did not listen to me. He tried to talk me into things we didn't want, such as tank-less hot water heaters and a hot water recirculation system. He did not itemize anything in the bid so we couldn't tell why the bid was so high.

THE EXPERIENCE WE HAD WITH MIKE COUNCIL PLUMBING WAS EXCELLENT. THE CONTRACTOR WHO CAME TO WORK ON THE JOB WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE. WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH HIS WORK.

HE WAS PROFESSIONAL. HE IS ALSO VERY BUSY. I HAD TO WAIT A WHILE FOR THE WORK TO GET COMPLETED.
