Arrived right on time. Looked at what we wanted to do. Assessed whether additional parts would be needed (they were). And provided a detailed bid. Completed the work in the amount of time he had estimated.

I don’t think the experience was a pleasant one. In the meantime they broke the main and they tried to shut off the water. It was a big mess and they repaired the main which cost me over $600 apart from the toilet. They just told me how much it cost to repair the main. Setting up the appointment was fine and they were punctual. The quality of the service was fair.

He dumped black water from the snaking all over the outdoor carpet in the laundry room. He neglected to put the overflow tube from the washing machine back into the laundry tub. So basically there was a flood instead of a leak. It was a sloppy procedure. They did fix the problem & solved it. They just left a mess. I had to suggest wet vaccuming it, but he should have done this automatically.

We have used Mike Cousil for electrical, gas and plumbing work. Recently we had a major plumbing problem that their firm solved for us. We found Glen and Jaime, to be very through in their recommended solutions. We also felt Silas and Freddy kept our house very clean and communicated each step. Our experience with MC was the people are professional and experienced in the way they engage their customers. For instance, when they discovered the cause of our plumbing problem, Silas explained the issue, provided a full quote and clear timeline for completion. The quote was done from a standard pricing book, which made it feel like we weren't being "taken". Glen and Jaime stopped by often and used the same quoting process, so I felt comfortable with their quote. I could have done multiple bids, but in the end it was the process Mike Counsil's people deployed on-site that made us feel 100% comfortable going with them. They communicated every step of the way with full disclosure and were always clear on the next steps. We always knew when they were coming and going, what we had to do, and they worked around our schedule as best as possible. We had five different individuals working on this project and each one was very professional courteous. We felt the results of the job were very professional and thorough. The city inspection went well, which is to be expected when you're using a company like Mike Counsil. I would recommend Mike Counsil for plumbing (big or small), electrical (again big or small) and or gas work.

Josh Gibson was the technician. He showed up right on time (even 5 minutes early) the first evening (how nice for evening appointments!). He said that the how water heater was in very good shape and while it was up to me, it did not need to be replaced. He returned the next evening to replace/repair the overflow valve. While he was a bit late, both he and his office called. That was very considerate and much appreciated. That work took 2 hours and his clean-up was meticulous. He recommended a company to assess the water and mold damage and after they inspected it 2 days later, Josh then coordinated with the other company to have Counsil Plumbing arrive first (8:00 am; again, he was early), take down the hot water heater and rig it so that I would have hot water during the drying process (3 days). Josh had informed me when he had filled the heater the previous week that due to noise he had heard, I would likely have to replace the heater after all and we agreed that since we were doing this work now, it would be a good time. Note that the cost above does not include the price of the new hot water heater. Drying process was completed in 3 days and Josh came out the next week to install the new heater. The only hiccup was that the water damage company did not fix the sheet rock they took out and I had to schedule that myself over a holiday weekend with a handyman I had fortunately used before. I would absolutely recommend this provider and I already have a few projects that require a plumber: but only if I can have Josh come out again. He is courteous, professional, explains things well, and I trusted him.

Prompt response. Workman was pleasant and did a fine job. After job completion, he checked under the house for "any pipes shaken loose" and found leakage in old pipes. Called in his supervisor and we were given a quote for re-piping repair with a fairly hard sell at the time. Research into competitive a bids showed their quote to be high. Overall work was good, they responded on the same day as we needed. Cost would be a barrier if we needed a plumber again.

My parents had called them out to their house because the plumbing was backing up into the shower and tub. This was on the 20th of January. They had no facilities to use. On January 21st, James came out to see what the issue was. James proceeded to tell them that they needed to repipe under the house, but he needed to get Glenn out to the home to get them an estimate. Glenn was able to come on the 22nd. Still, no working facilities for my parents. On the 22nd of January Glenn and James came out and said the cost to repipe under the home because of all the raw sewage that was leaking was going to be $28,000. Now, mind you my parents still don't have working facilities. Glenn manages to get my father, who has trouble seeing to sign a contract, mind you in an electronic format that he said he couldn't read and explains to my mother, who mind you English is not her native language, to agree to this repair. They also ask my mother if someone else needs to be involved with this decision because "we don't want them coming after us." At this point, my parents have cut the initial check of $10,000 to this place to start the work. I call my parents and start talking to them about this when James walks in and tells my mom that the $28,000 he was trying to rob her of won't fix the problem - it's going to be additional money to repipe out to the city AND to add insult to injury they won't have facilities AGAIN. At this point I tell her to tell them to get off the property. My husband contacts the owner who then says he will call him back. Glenn calls my husband back and offers a discount to do the rest of the work. A discount to perform work that would actually fix the issue??? He doesn't offer to bring any sort of facility out to my parents home for them to use - my husband has to ask for this. The initial quote of $28,000 wasn't going to fix their issue. Glenn also texts my husband to say that the technician didn't want to go under the house because of all the raw sewage so he didn't start any work. My parents wrote their three day right to cancel and received their check back the following day. Needless to say, I called another company out who then clears the line for my parents in less than 3 hours - after going without facilities for days. They took care of my parents first - then they actually put a camera down the line. Something Glenn failed to do. It turns out that there actually is no issue with the pipes. I have photos of underneath the house that show zero sewage leaking and cast iron pipes that are not corroded as James' invoice says. I have camera video showing that there is no issue with those pipes. They tried to take advantage of a senior couple that has one party that English is not her native language and a gentleman that has eye sight issues. People like this make it harder for other contractors who are honest.

They did a fine job. I have nothing negative to say about them. It was a good price for the service they provided. We didn't hire them for anything outside of that. I would use them. There was a special deal again.

They seemed to want to do things a little differently. The price they quoted was way beyond what Angie's list had listed.

We had a sewer backup and Mike Counsil Plumbing responded within a few hours. They routed the sewer line, but cautioned the blockage might be beyond the length of the router. This provided immediate resolution, but when it backed up again a few days later, they returned, performed another cleanout, and ran a video camera into the line leading to the street. They showed us the video feed and It was obvious the line needed to be replaced (original pipe from 1949). They replaced the line and installed two cleanouts outside the home for future use. On each visit, they were very punctual, provided options, took steps to protect the work area, worked quickly, and were very professional. We have used them previously to replace our main water line, and some more minor plumbing repairs, so we were aware of their service level. Highly recommended.

Our water heater was making abnormal noises including loud booms. Since we had a safety concern, we wanted to get it looked at as soon as possible. We called Mike Counsil Plumbing and Electric late on a Friday afternoon, during their regular business hours, and they booked an appointment for a technician to come the following day within a two hour window between 11 am and 1 pm. An hour before the scheduled time, a company rep called to inform us that they would be unable to keep the appointment. No explanation was given and the rep did not offer to reschedule our appointment. This was extremely disappointing, so we called back to ask about the reason for the cancellation. We were told that since their technician was very busy on another job, he would not be available at all that day. The rep then said that it was a small company. Again, there was no offer to reschedule our appointment. On the plus side, the rep who called to cancel the appointment did offer us the phone number of another plumbing company, although she didn't say whether the other plumber was available.

I like that they have flexibly with payment and financing. They were very good with working with me. They are very knowledgably and show up promptly on time. They are friendly, respectable, and tell you exactly what they need to do. They always break the jobs down into sections so you know where they are at in the process. I am a diamond club member with them and they give me a great discount. They do once year maintenance on my property to ensure everything is working well.

This went well, they were real courtesy and they went in did their job

Overall it went ok. The dripping was all resolved and also the lose faucets. The hot/cold issue was not. So overall the job was done. However it was a total 1 hour job and litterally it was about tigtening some screws and bolts (now that I have seen how it works, I can do it myself and have actually done it it to other faucets). The total bill was over $200 in addition to the Angie's list deal and I think that's a pretty crazy price. I mean... my lawyer is cheaper than that! Also, the day of the original appointment the guy did not show up as he got lost... I live on the mountains so I am sort of used to that, but a call would have been appreciated, rather than make me wait 2 hours... The following day they were timely.

We purchased the offer of a new toilet through Angie's list for 399.00, the offer included a Gerber toilet. We wanted height and requested the Santa Rosa Koehler toilet instead. He was quick to point out we would pay the difference and charged us another 253.00. Off he went to Home Depot for the toilet. He called us from the store and advised us The High Line toilet would better suit us. When he returned from the store I inquired about the difference now in our favor. He said he forgot to check the difference. The Santa Rosa lists for 264.00 while the High Line classic lists for 198.00. So from my figures we were over charged 66.00.

The back flow valve needed replaced and he wanted $2500. I went to the store and looked online and the valve was $200. I was considering to use them but decided not to. I think asking for ten times more is crooked.

When I called to schedule an appointment, I was told a technician would be at my house in one to two hours. I was pleasantly surprised when he showed up in 45 min. The technician, Charles Saulus, was very professional and curtious. He explained everything he was going to do and why he was going to do if that way. He got my approval at each step of the process which affected cost. I was very happy With Charles' expertise and performance, and, as a result, with Mike council PlumbIng, in general. This is the second time I have used this company, and I have been happy with their service both times. Again, high praise for the technician Charles Saulus.

We called this company to get a quote for replacing our water heater. We explained that we were looking to get several quotes and the company waived their fee. Their representative, Jerry, was knowledgeable, arrived within the time window the company said he would be there, and listened carefully to what we said. He reviewed verbally what he thought we should do to make certain the water heater installation would meet code and be trouble free after they installed the water heater. This included replacing the working cold water valve, all new strapping, pipe connections and full replacement of the gas flue pipe to the roof. He carefully explained the companies policies, and their peace of mind option to maintain the water heater including an optional lifetime warranty, He said they could replace the wear heater next day, they had a lot of plumbers available to do the job. The price he came up with and emailed us was $2800.00 without the lifetime warranty. We did not hire them because the cost of the job was way above what we could afford on our fixed income and they were almost twice the price of other companies we found on Angie?s list. We attempted to get the company to lower their price by leaving off replacing the working shutoff valve and reusing our code approved strapping, gas vent pipe, etc. and the response by Jerry?s supervisor was to do all the work but with a 10% discount. Still way above what we can afford. Our take on this company is that they are a large full service plumbing company more suited to doing large plumbing projects and seem overpriced for a project like replacing a water heater.

Provider did not respond to the order. I had to go through Angie's List admin to get a refund of pre-paid order. I doubt that I will use this type of pre-paid service in the future. I believe the "service area" of the provider needs to be well defined. It appears that the provider does not service my area, and did not respond to tell me that.

After several false starts because they didn't have record that I purchased service from Angie's list and wanted to charge me to have someone come out and give me a quote, we got that resolved. The person they sent out was very professional and did an outstanding job. We took the time to fully explain to me what he was going to do and did exactly what he said. I am very pleased with the service.

I need a refund from Angies list.

They never called me and I had to call them to get service. Then they wanted more money to do the job than originally stated. I felt it was kind of a hustle job or a bait and switch.

The call to set the appt was handled well and quickly scheduled. In fact they called me and said they had an earlier appointment. Service person arrived on time and wore booties in the house to keep the carpets clean. He went down the crawl space under the house to look at access issues. However, he was able to easily unplug the drain with a snake and repair the leaks to the new trap my husband had put in trying to fix the clog. But that wasn't before the hard sell. All the pricing is 'out of a book' and you pay by the job, not by the hour. So even though I paid for the special for $200 of work, I ended up spending an additional $117.00. The total cost would have been $350.00 if I hadn't of paid the special. All for about 30 minutes of work. The rest of the time was spent trying to sell me an 'inspection' of our crawl space to make sure everything was okay --even though he had already been there. Then tried to sell an inspection of all the plumbing in the house to look for any problems...I didn't ask how much those services would be, but I was afraid the costs were getting pretty steep to unplug a clogged sink. I think I would prefer to by the hour, as most plumbers I have known in the past work.

You have heard of the Pentagon $500 toilet seat...well I think I did them one better. I ended up paying $949 for a "fixed price" $399 toilet deal. The idiot that I am I paid that to replace what was a perfectly working toilet (except for a broken lid which would have cost me $50 to replace). Here is what happened.... Looking at the deal and seeing that the toilet was a top flushing toilet model (with two different flush controls) I decided to upgrade because the price seemed decent. I paid the $399. When I called for scheduling the installation the lady there told me I had to pay $69 for them to come there to install it. Probably a mixup as she diid not understand this was a $399 package deal from Angies and it should include installation. When I pointed it out she said " I will waive it as you are a new customer" but that is not the right reason to "waive" the charges. It was a fixed price deal including installation and haul away of the old toilet. The installation day came and the Mike Council installer came by on time. He brought a regular side flush toilet. When pointed out that the deal had a top flush toilet he as nice enough to go and get the proper one. Great service so far. He then removed my old toilet and called me and said that the old one had the "toilet flange" set too low and he would try and install the new one on it with two "O" rings and it should be OK but there could be issues. He did not tell me though that if there were issues they would charge me extra or how much that would cost me. if I had known it at that time I would have cancelled on the deal right then and gone back to my old toilet which was working without any leaks for 10+ years. So the installation was done. Three days later the toilet starts leaking from the base. I call them up, This time the lady at Mike Council tells me that since the installer had told me that the toilet installation could have issues they would need to charge $69 to come and look at it. This for a toilet which was installed just three days before by them. When I pointed that she agreed to send someone. That day the guy who did the original install and his supervisor turned up. They said it needed to be fixed by "raising the toilet flange" and it would cost me an additional $800+! I really balked at paying three times the original cost of $400 to fix an issue which was not an issue with my old toilet. The supervisor then accused me of "trying to get work done for free/cheaply" forgetting that It was Angies list which had negotiated and decided the $399 price -- not me! After some negotiation on the price the supervisor told me that if I did not agree to pay extra he was willing to refund the whole $399 back to me. But that would not help me as I had a leaky toilet and I was afraid that if the leak grew it would reach into other areas of the house and I did not know if any other plumber would be able to fix it. When I asked him what the material cost was he accused me of wanted to just pay for the materials and made snide remarks on whether if there was an issue with the whole plumbing I would ask him to replace the whole plumbing to the outside line for free. Such remarks were uncalled for and unprofessional when I said nothing of the sort and infact was willing to pay a reasonable amount to fix an issue which was not of my doing or one that I was aware of earlier with my old toilet (which was working just fine) After much negotiation they agreed to do the whole job for $949 total. The installer went and got the parts and the whole work of raising the toilet flange was done in 1 hour. Later I found out on Angies list that this kind of toilet flange work should cost around $200-$250 so I ended up paying more than twice that amount.. Anyway the toilet is now working properly the leaks are gone and they have said there is a one year warranty on the work they have done. On the plus side : - The work they finally did seems to be of good quality - The proper toilet was installed on time and schedule - They responded promptly to the leak - They told me about the possibility of issues with the toilet flange during the first install (but crucially *not* the excessive cost to fix it!) - They offered to refund me the whole amount if I was not happy - They said they would stand behind their work for a year On the minus side : - They did not tell me before of the cost to replace the flange and that it was going to leak for sure. If I had known the cost I would have cancelled the install as my old toilet was doing just fine - I think I overpaid for the the toilet flange fix although according to them I got it at a discount - The supervisor made unnecessary snide remarks when I was trying to negotiate in good faith So lesson learnt that a fixed price Angies List deal can put you in a financial "fix" pretty quickly. Hope others learn from my mistake. I guess this is what they mean when they say "Money down the drain"

Getting straight to the point. They cancelled on the day of the appointment the first time round due to a lack of people. rescheduled for a week later, they then called again to cancel on the day twenty minutes before the appointment, rescheduled again they finally came. Then a month later I called to set up an appointment to get the water softner put into the home. a week later when the appointment came up they called on the day ten minutes before and cancelled on us again cause of some other big job he needed to get done. I would of considered the possible job he needed to get done in our home pretty big. So I told them no thanks not interested anymore after you cancelled on me three times. Heres a tip to the company .... If you think you cant send someone out to the job then don't promise an appointment you set up with me a week prior. Also dont make excuses saying we dont have enough people or anything else cause the excuses are useless to me. I have seen other people have had the same problem I had with this very un professional company.
