A Better Way Housekeeping

The level of service was great. The cost however was way off of the original estimate. They quoted us $200. The work was done well though and I was pleased with the quality.

Overall they do a decent job but regularly seem to leave furniture out of place and don't always put all the cleaning supplies away before they leave. That said, they are very friendly and have gotten to know my daughter and our pets. I feel I can trust them in our home and never worry about items missing. When we have to ask them to improve on a specific task, they generally do a good job of it. Also very good keeping us informed about what cleaning products we need to restock for the next visit. My biggest complaint is timing--they are often late and don't always stay the full four hours. Also I seem to find out about cancellations at the last minute.

Maria and Myrna have been cleaning our house every two weeks for almost 4 months. They are very pleasant ladies and are very anxious to please. They have gone beyond what we expected, in the way of normal cleaning. We provide the products. They are extremely punctual, a lot of the time arriving a few minutes early. We are very happy with the service we have gotten.

I only pay a lump some once a month. The girl that they send is really nice. The company is very accommodating and easy to work with. I am going to be using this company for a long time to come.

They came for the six hours I had scheduled them for and I had to call the company back and had them come for two more as the job simply wasn't done correctly. Even after the extra time there were, things still not completed, like the bathtub was never scrubbed out. The company has offered me 4 hours of free cleaning services as compensation, but I still would not recommend this cleaning service.

Maria was an hour late. She said she couldn't find the place. I had to go to work and left written instructions with my husband for her. The person in the office was very accommodating and tried to get another cleaner to fill in. The house was cleaned satisfactory, nothing to get excited about. The kitchen floor had a film on it. She apparently didn't use the floor cleaner that I set out.

Generally, I was satisfied with the work performed by the two people who came to clean the house. They worked diligently and followed instructions well, and they even cleaned more thoroughly in some areas than I expected (moved sofa away from wall to vacuum dust and dirt from underneath). The only con is that for the price I paid I had to provide all cleaning supplies and products, other companies provide all material for the same price (it costs $20 extra if you want them to bring their own stuff).

I switched firms to Better Way over a year ago, and they are both less expensive, more responsive, and higher quality than my previous cleaners.

Sent a crew of two. They brought everything they needed; worked hard for 5 hours. House was a mess with dust and stuff all over. Toilets was very dirty having sat there for over a year. They cleaned everything up. Some areas, they didn't have time to get to. But overall, they worked quite hard and it was a good job.

The housekeepers are normally very timely (I've used them for about a year now and a few years ago, when I had roomates, I used them for about a year and a half.). However, the rates recently jumped from $64 per cleaning to $72 for the same amount of work with 2 weeks notice. I paid a comparable rate to the $72 previously with a service that provided their own cleaning supplies so I was a little dismayed about the amount of price jump. It was a company wide increase to customers but the short notice and amount of increase irked me and the price change letter didn't tell me exactly what the price difference would be for my house, it explained where the proceeds were going so I ended up paying the wrong amount the first time. It's easier than cleaning my own house and I guess they're more professional than some cleaning organizations but I felt that Merry Maids left my house a little cleaner so I can only give them a B on quality.

The communication was excellent. The work was also excellent. I am very pleased and have signed up for repeat business. I have worked with many other maid services, and this one is as good as I have ever had. They do extras, but I only have the standard clean -- no clothes washed or ironed.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND TRUSTWORTHY. WE GAVE THEM A KEY TO THE HOUSE SO THEY COULD LET THEMSELVES IN, BUT NEVER WORRIED THAT ANYTHING WOULD BE MISSING. I LOVED COMING HOME ON CLEANING DAY TO FIND THE HOUSE COMPLETELY TAKEN CARE OF.

I DECIDED NOT TO HIRE A HOUSEKEEPER.
