A & H Heating

The whole experience was exactly what one would hope for. They came when they said they would and gave me the estimate. Once I scheduled the work they came on time. They were very careful not to dirty the property. They had drop cloths everywhere there would be foot traffic. They cleaned up completely when they were done. They painted the cover guard to the color of the stucco using paint I provided them. The work was completed well, on time and on budget. No complaints. Highly recommended.

They gave a very reasonable estimate. They seemed to understand the needs of the house. They were very good to work with. They were very respectful and pleasant in our home. They showed up on time and did what they said they would do. When I had a question about a rebate and tax deductions, the owner contacted me directly and made sure it was all taken care of. Even when the inspector came, he stated that they knew what they were doing. We've referred them to our neighbors and they were also very satisfied with their work.

The person that gave the quote was very professional and thorough. The guys who did the work were very conscientious. They cleaned up and did a great job. Our basement is sort of open and they had put a large duct in the most direct way which I was not happy about. It was efficient but it was kind of in the middle of things but they removed it for me and redid it without any complaints. I got a discount from Angie's list as well.

And then they just blew me away with an awesome performance. These guys aren't fancy, but they know what they're doing and hold themselves to high standards. Weather on install day was a scorcher--2 guys sent over were soon up in the attic getting incredibly hot and dirty. They discovered some ducts had been broken open years ago, explaining the historically weak performance of the furnace. They tore out the old ducts--and this was a lot of ducting, filled up a good bit of the yard. They efficiently arranged to add another worker to the project, to deal with this unexpected problem. The whole thing was done on time--that day, including the new ducting. And I'm still amazed because: 1) Just got second winter PG&E bill - gas use is 1/2 of last year and is a minimal level! And we've turned up the heat, and the whole house has been toasty this winter. Clearly, they solved the problem. 2) When they presented the bill, it was only for the initial bid--nothing more. All that extra work and new ducting--no charge! I still can't believe it. 3) The workers were kind to each other. This was one of those days where there were several unwanted surprises, everything in the attic is is hot, cramped and messy with insulation, and they had to change plans in the middle of the day...and not a cross word was spoken. The people who came were employees, yet they seemed empowered to make good, quick, and more than fair decisions...all the while treating each other with kindness and respect. This really counts with me. 4) The plumber Dale recommended was also great. 5) Furnace and water heater permits were signed off quickly, no questions from inspector. 6) Looking in the furnace/water heater closet is impressive--everything looks new, clean, and robust (compared to the prior old and a bit scary). Never imagined I'd enjoy opening that door.

Great. Got an immediate appointment, contractor was punctual, provided service, and charged less than prior estimate.

I left a message on the phone over the weekend and A&H called back on Monday for scheduling. He came on time, replaced bad part and left with in 15 minutes. He didn't even charge me for the replaced part. Now it's working great.

They were very good. Their service was as I expected. I knew which furnace I wanted. Their price was quite good.

Pros - good price, good location, great service and they went above and beyond. They're also very flexible coming before 8am. Cons - really just their getting back to us took longer than I wanted but I think it was the time of year with them being busy. But they got the job done, quickly, efficiently and affordable. We'd definitely use them again!

They were great! We had the estimate within 20 minutes of the consultation. Dale provided us with brochures and carefully explained all of our options. We were able to make our decision in 24 hours. They arrived promptly and completed the job in the same day. (The job was very difficult between the levels of the house.) A & H handled all of the inspection walk through and the inspector said " It was a spectacular job". They will be our new A/C-Heating company going forward.

After calling 4 different air duct cleaning companies (all found on Angie's List) we decided to go with A&H. The range in estimates that were provided over the telephone were not too different (the range was no more than $100 from the low to high end). A&H's pricing was in the middle ground. The main reason we chose A&H was because of the two telephone conversations we had with them. Both times they were informative, courteous and professional. A&H answered all the questions we posed and they explained the process in a clear manner. They did not talk down to us (as some companies have done). Ryan scheduled us for September 8th from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. He said to expect 2 workers. On 9/8 at 8:00 a.m. we received a call from Jerry to say they would be at our home by 8:30 a.m. They knocked on our door at 8:28 a.m.! Before the work started Jerry took time to explain what he and Steve were going to do, where they needed access, what needed to be moved and how long the job was going to take. In the garage they needed access to the air unit which was in a corner that was blocked by some shelves and tons of empty boxes. They helped me move everything that was needed to gain access to the area. During the job they were clean and quick. They found two breaks in the duct under the house and reviewed the process and pricing and got my okay before working on them. Once they were done they put the shelves back in the appropriate place in the garage, they left all the areas where they had in the house clean (and the area in the garage where they worked was actually cleaner after they left!). And they finished within the two hour time frame they had estimated. Overall our experience with A&H and Jerry and Steve in particular was very positive. They did what they said they would. There was no surprise in pricing. In fact, we even got a 10% discount for mentioning that we found them on Angie's List. But you know, we would have still chosen them without the 10% discount. Thank you A&H.

The two guys that did the work were funny, charming, and hard-working. We have a very small crawl space, so this was not an easy job for them! They kept everything clean, even though it was really muddy under the house. Finally, even though the limited work space slowed them down (they told us that our demo took a lot longer than usual, and having been under the house, I believe them!) they still finished within their quoted time. When the inspector came out, he praised the quality of their work. He decided that "gee, I'd like to see a little more room under that one duct, but I'll pass it", so they came out and took care of it, no hassle, no worries. These guys do high quality, professional work, and I'd recommend them to anyone!

The day was wet and rainy. The crew (2 men) covered all surfaces from the front door to the installation point as well as surrounding areas with drop cloths. The result was a perfectly clean and dry installation. The work was done in one day and was completely satisfactory to me. The bid was the lowest of three. I will have A&H replace the downstairs furnace and A/C when the time comes for their replacement.

They were very friendly and very professional. They were really good. My experience with them was good.

We had a very good interaction with them, they were very professional and they did an excellent job. We just felt really good about the whole process that they did. I had other estimates and they came right in the ballpark with their price. I highly recommend them.

Project went very well. Jerry was the main tech on site and is extremely good at what he does. Everything was a tight squeeze, both new return duct and the new furnace, but he made it work and work well. I think if I had hired a different company or was assigned a different tech, there could have been some major problems and/or corners cut. Supervisor came out to check on the guys the first day (2-day job) and gave them insight in how best to go after a few issues. The other tech working asked a lot of question about how to run things (... this didn't sit well with me, since he was dealing with the gas lines) but I think Jerry and the supervisor helped him out - I hope. Al in all, a really good job. Pretty clean for a very messy job (some extra steps could have been taken to make it a bit less messy (we were wiping things down for 90 minutes each night) and the other tech working definitely could have been cleaner both inside and out (ie. take the crawl suit off before you start walking around inside the house) but these are pretty minor moans for a pretty big job.

Over all this went fairly well and they were a good company to work with. There was a lot of work to do, and it was complicated by the fact that they had to work around our electrician at the same time. They were very helpful in getting it done as quickly as possible so we would be eligible for 2009's rebate. They made some very good suggestions, such as upgrading the ductwork and adding some new registers. I guess my biggest complaint is that we made it clear to them we would be in this home for a long time and were interested in energy efficiency. We sure got an efficient, top-of-the-line furnace, but we got a inefficient AC unit. In all honesty we should have talked with them about the AC unit, but I guess since it was winter we were just worried about heating. The guy we were dealing with also went on vacation and we got someone else doing the actual work. The new guy knew what he was doing on the technical side, but he didn't know about our rebates or some of the other issues we had open with the first guy we talked to. Overall, though, these seem like very minor issues, given that we ended up with high quality work for a good price. We would definitely recommend them.

They did a great job. I was very pleased with the work they did and would use them again.

The comany was very thorough and organized, even supplying us with the paperwork that we needed to send to PGE and Trane for our rebates. They showed us how to operate the thermostat and made sure everything was operational before leaving. We had to call the City to inspect the drain pipe that was installed later but that was not difficult. They had left all of the paperwork to give the City inspector when he arrived. Overall we were very pleased with their work and would recommend them, and use them again if necessary.

It went well, compared to the horror stories about the duct cleaning teaser $75 adds that end up intimidating people into spending thousands for replacing the furnace etc.

They were able to schedule an appointment within a couple days of me calling. The repairman arrived when he said he would. In fact he was early. He asked all the right questions and really seemed to know what he was talking about. He identified the problem quickly and gave me an estimate on what it would cost to fix. The parts arrived within a couple days and were installed all within the original estimate. He even passed up on an opportunity to perform additional work (checking the coolant levels) saying it could wait until the spring. All in all a very positive experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys based on this experience.

I found A&H on Angie's List and they did a terrific job. Very happy with the new system and with the recommendations that I received from Dale about which equipment to install. It's always that case that in a job of this scale a few minor issues crop up, the question is how they get handled. A&H resolved them promptly and professionally which is all I can ask.

I have been using them for about three years now. I called them when I had a problem with my AC and they advised me over the phone. They listened to my problems and explained as what the problem was, how to resolve the issue and what was needed to fix it. I didn't have to spend anything to repair my AC. They have done this several times.

A & H came as scheduled and replaced the fan. After a few days, when the weather got warmer--triggering the fan to operate--it was very noisy. We called A & H to investigate and they returned within a day or so and added additional padding to stop the vibration. We have had not problems since. They were punctual and professional and were very accommodating in returning to resolve the noise problem.

I asked for estimate and because I was working on the house I asked for a 2 week window when they could do the installation. They accommodated me and the installation took 1 week. There were no surprises, though they did have to come back to fix an electric damper that got hung up on some insulation.
