A&H was great. He identified the problem immediately. One of the other companies had replaced a part with the wrong part, and so the unit was not operating properly. A&H had the correct part, replaced it, and the air conditioning has been working great ever since. Thank you A&H!
Description of Work: Our air conditioning unit was not producing cold air. We had other companies look at it, and they told us that we needed to replace the whole unit because it was leaking freon from some unidentified crack. Since the unit was only 5 years old, we were not convinced that they had really identified the problem, and so we tried again with A&H.

Our AC wasn't working and we assumed it was the Freon. I called last Friday and got an appointment for today (Tuesday) Reinhardt came out and within seconds knew it was the capacitor that blew out. He replaced it in 5 minutes, was polite, friendly, and professional. He was happy to show us what had happened and how to diagnose the problem.

When we bought this house, we found out that the ductwork had asbestos (though supposedly safely taped). Also, a contractor we hired said the ducts were leaking at the seams. Thus we decided to replace the ducts. Based on good reviews from Angie's List we called A&H. A technician came out in about a week and gave us an estimate, which seemed within a reasonable range based on feedback we had gotten from other contractors. We scheduled the job, and the crew came out within two weeks. The asbestos guy, Scott Bunce, was excellent. He spent one day cleaning up the old ducts. The A&H team came out the next day. Overall the job took 3 days including the asbestos cleanup. The job was done very professionally with good quality as far as I can tell so far. It was about two weeks ago, and the air conditioning system works better than it used to.

We decided to do the project and I got a few names off of Angie's List and one off a flier. We got some estimates. Because Angie's List had a good rating for A & H and because the man that we talked to from the company, Dale, was comfortable to talk to and upfront about everything, we went with them. I was very comfortable with the workers. They were very nice. They were easy to work with and very polite. If I had another project to do I would not hesitate to use them again.

Reinhardt came last week, tried to recharge the coolant in my central A/C, but said it was too cold a day, so we rescheduled. Today, he came by again, and recharged without problems. When the compressor turned off, he went up into my attic where the heat exchanger is located, and explained to me that the temperature sensor is for safety purposes only, and is not needed if there is also a bypass damper, which we have. The temperature sensor has a limited number of times it can switch effectively. Where the original installers located the sensor caused it to be activated much more frequently than it was designed for. He disconnected this, and the A/C seems to be working fine after that. He explained things thoroughly, and was very competent in his work. This was in marked contrast to the last worker we had out here on warranty, who spouted a lot of nonsense at us, but couldn't fix things. We would highly recommend this individual to anyone else who needs A/C service.

Called in the morning and had service within forty-five mins.(the man said he was in the area and could stop after his project was finished). The man, I think his name was Dale, came in looked at our unit, which had not been serviced for numerous years and added free-on. Unit has been working really well since. I had a problem with the air conditioner and they came out free of charge to do the repair.

Dale showed up exactly at the time we scheduled (10AM) to do the estimate. It was almost like he was standing outside my door looking at his watch waiting for 10 to roll around. Eerie. He looked at the old furnace and my breaker panel and sub-panel, looked at the return and in the closet for the new return ducting, and the spot for the air conditioner external unit. We talked about efficiency and models and the square footage of the house. He then went out to his truck to write up the estimate, then came back with the estimate ($7000) and brochures for the furnace he thought we should use, the A/C unit, and the thermostat he recommends. I did some research online and checked out the models and efficiency levels he was recommending and determined that going any higher in efficiency would not pay for itself in this climate zone, so I called him back to schedule the work for the following Monday. He said the workers would be there between 8:30 and 9:00 and that it would take two days. Sure enough, the workers arrived between 8:30 and 9:00 both days and kept us apprised the whole time of what they were planning to do and how they were going to do it. They were going to have to run conduit from one end of the house to the other for the electrical for the A/C, so I mentioned that I didn't need the RV plug my dad had wired into the sub-panel any more, so they used that circuit instead. They also insulated the return ducting using foil covered insulation and added foil covered insulation to all the exposed ducting in the garage (the return had not been insulated and the other ducts had had exposed fiberglass prior) so it now looks significantly cleaner than it had before. The installation looks extremely clean and professional and the new two stage furnace and (single-stage) A/C both work great and are very quiet. I wrote them a check for $7000 when they were done on Tuesday afternoon.
Description of Work: Replaced my old furnace with a Trane XL80 (100,000 BTU) and added a 4 ton air conditioning unit. Required wiring and piping for the A/C unit along with adding a second return with ducting through my attic.

Dale visited our house and initially asked why we were interested in replacing our duct work. I explained to him that we would have respiratory reactions whenever we turned on our heater, and we were interested in improving efficiency and reducing noise. He made several good recommendations including installing the AprilAire high efficiency air cleaner on top of the blower. The primary crew consisted of Jerry and Tim. Both were very courteous and seemed to take a lot of pride in their work. I am definitely pleased with the result and would recommend them to others in need of H/AC work. Jerry even noticed that our front door was squeaking and applied some WD-40 on the hinges voluntarily. Our heating system is extremely quiet now.

I called A &H because my A/C used to start whenever the thermostat kicked in and started the heat. I left them a message over the weekend. They returned my call promptly on Monday and gave an appointment for a couple of days later. They showed up on time, checked the thermostat and the furnace and AC and determined that there was likely some shorted wiring. They turned the AC power off and made another appointment for 2 weeks later to fix the wiring. On the day of the appt. they called in the morning and left a message saying they were going to come in earlier than the original appt. After the technicians got there, they had to remove the thermostat, go into the attic and replace the wiring. It took them a while but they charged us for only 2 hours (including the original visit). The only negative was that one of the technicians was somewhat sloppy when re-installing the thermostat and made a bigger hole in the dry wall than before. They had to caulk it up.
Description of Work: Replaced shorted wiring from thermostat to furnace and air-conditioner.

He came on time to my house just a couple of days after I spoke with A&H on the telephone. He was courteous and knew what he was doing. He had the filter I needed for my heater on hand and provided that. He stayed with me until all my questions were answered. He provided extra information where he thought that would be helpful. I was very pleased with the entire interaction. As soon as the filter was replaced, my house immediately felt warmer. The heater had been straining to get sufficient air to function properly. I later talked by phone with Dale Phelps about getting a high efficiency furnace and he gave me very good advice about the pros and cons. I didn't feel like he was just trying to sell me a system. In fact, he recommended that it did not sound like I needed to replace my system at this time.
Description of Work: The representative replaced my heater filter. He also walked around my house and checked every heating vent to make sure it was actually putting out heat. He adjusted a couple of vents to make them more effective. We also discussed the necessity of our replacing our heating system in the near future.

Our old furnace had developed an annoying habit of lighting and then cutting off 5 minutes later, refusing to restart until completely cool, which made it impossible to warm the house dependably. A&H squeezed us in for an early Friday morning appointment and showed up right on time, and quickly and methodically diagnosed the problem. At first it appeared to be a bad flame sensor on the pilot, but when a new pilot behaved the same way he traced the problem to inadequate gas flow due to a failing gas valve. A short time later with a new valve installed, and our aging furnace was fully functional again. We're looking forward to staying warm this winter, and I'm fully satisfied with the work. We may be talking to them about upgrading to a combined heater/AC system in the spring.
Description of Work: A&H diagnosed and repaired a problem with our aging Carrier gas furnace. At first it appeared to be a bad flame sensor on a (mis-installed by the previous owner) pilot, but when a new pilot behaved the same way he traced the problem to inadequate gas flow due to a failing gas valve. He installed a new gas control valve, and the furnace was fully functional again, using the original pilot reinstalled correctly.

I had called his office the day before. A & H called me back and set an appointment for the next day. He called before the appointment to say he was on his way and he even beat me to the office building! Great, prompt service! Reinhard went up on the roof for a visual inspection of the a/c and heating unit. He also went inside the unit (1500 square feet) to turn on the thermostat to check its function and to make sure heat was supplied when requested. He identified the heating, a/c unit that belong to the suite I was purchasing. I offered to pay Reinhard for his time but he wrote up the call as a bid for future maintenance work. I was impressed with his professionalism. He made some recommendations for a future maintenance schedule.
Description of Work: Inspected the heating and air conditioning equipment for an office building we are purchasing. We had been trying for a month to get another company to perform the same work. He told me at least 3 times he was going to be there and do the work. I finally got fed up and called this company. It was a pleasure to get a prompt response from A & H Heating. They are a pleasure to do business with.

A & H installs multiple brands of equipment and Dale was very careful to describe all the trade-offs and his personal experience. I felt like I was getting just the right system that meets my needs without going overboard. The crew came out right at the scheduled time, about 1 week after we ordered the equipment. It was a challenging installation, but it all went fine and they overcame the installation issues without any problems and consulted with me on preference issues like location of controls, AC unit, etc. Everything works great and the air feels more comfortable immediately. We have allergy issues and the filtering seems to be doing the job.

My furnace stopped working a week ago. Pilot light wouldn't start. I called A & H on Tuesday and got an appointment for Friday at 12:30. Reinhart (not sure of spelling there) showed up close to on time. It took him all of 20 seconds to figure out what was wrong and he replaced the small part in less than 5 minutes. Literally, in 10 minutes, he was gone and my heater was working again. He was obviously skilled, nice, etc. My only disappointment was in being charged $80 for labor when it was for a 10-minute job. I understand the need for a minimum, but sometimes breaking the rules makes more sense.
Description of Work: They replaced a small part that had something to do with the automatic pilot for my furnace. Total cost $140: $80 labor and $60 part. Total time: less than 10 minutes.

On time, clean, neat, thorough, excellent work. Dale provided a quote that was fair, did not try to oversell us on a fancy heating system, and was detailed. Manual was on time, polite, did an excellent job replacing the furnace, inspected/repaired the ducts and electrical work. They cleaned up thoroughly. A very pleasant experience!
Description of Work: Dale provided a thorough, fair quote that included permits and included additional electrical work that needed to be done to bring the furnace closet up to code. Manuel and his crew replaced the furnace, inspected the ducts, replace the vent pipe, completed the electrical work and added a new intake grill. They were very careful of our property and cleaned up thoroughly. Very nice workmanship.

Dale (the owner) came to give the estimate. He asked me what I wanted, took down some measurements, then went to his truck to work out the pricing. He came back with the most thoroughly written up estimate (with line items for heater, AC, duct cleaning, and duct fan). He did not give me a sales pitch but left me with Trane documents. He sized the tonnage for the heater and AC just right, IMHO. Installers came the next week. Terry worked in a great hurry initially. But over time I grew to respect his work because he did it so well. His assistant Tim was very courteous. There were some concerns with the way to get the electrical wire for the thermostat, the way to increase the secondary return. I insisted on the way it had to be and Terry made it happen. The two left the work site clean as a whistle at the end of the first day. The next day was half day's work but I was not around. I especially liked the quality of the work and parts used. The permit inspector had no problem. Great job!
Description of Work: Replaced furnace with a new Trane XV80. Installed new A/C (we did not have one before) Trane XR13. Installed a Fan tech duct fan. Cleaned ducts. Increased the size of secondary return and lined with sound dampeners.

Couldn't have asked for anyone better. Dale was exceptionally informative with no pressure. Other bids didn't come close. His workers, Jerry and Tim, were polite, explained things, took care of problems such as new 220V circuit, finding a ground in a home that wasn't originally 3 wired, and no complaints about having to access a crawl space. Professional and their work showed it. Even the inspector was impressed. He was especially informative about our wanting to install a tank-less water heater although it wasn't part of his contract. All that I read about Dale and his work was correct.

A positive experience starting with the estimate given by Dale, the owner of the company. He didn't try to upsell us into something that we didn't need and demonstrated his knowledge of what is or isn't code. He gave us some alternatives that were less costly and wasn't high pressure. The installers were friendly and efficient. Didn't hear any bad language out of them even when encountering obstacles. We actually enjoyed having them around. They tore out the old furnace and ac unit and had the new equipment installed and running by late afternoon. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves.
