Spectacular Trim

Excellent job. With different work going on at the same time, they were very accommodating to work with our schedule. The walls add to be prepared by the painter, then the crown molding went up, and the painters came back.

We have worked with Paul 3 times so far for 3 different jobs. We first worked with Paul to install crown molding in our entrance way and 2 bedrooms. Within 5 min of him being in our house, he was able to find the molding that was used in our 1939 house dining room and living room so we could match the molding in our other rooms. This was something my husband and I spent hours trying to figure out. We were very impressed by his knowledge and expertise. We then had Paul come back to help install glass French doors which turned out beautifully. Our third job was a bigger project. After contemplating on whether or not we should change out countertops/cabinets, we spoke with Paul who recently renovated his 1930s kitchen which had very similar characteristics to ours. We opted to change out the cabinet doors for new doors which Paul is crafting for us and will install this week. We can't wait to see them! Any other woodwork, Paul will be our go to guy. Excellent! Pricing was fair and the job was labor intensive. Paul gave us creative options and the pros & cons of some of our moulding choices. Glad we listened! His craftsmanship is making our home worth staying a little longer before we possibly sell. Hope to have him back to install beams and more ceiling panels.

Paul did an excellent job with our crown moulding in our bedroom and study. He also gave us great advice about what type of crown moulding to choose from - because honestly I haven't a clue about the different styles ! Anyhow, Paul made sure that what was selected would match the rest of the crown moulding in our home. His work was exquisite and perfect. Paul is a perfectionist and really took the time to make sure my door installations and molding fit perfectly. He was very responsive over text and email, and also great at making suggestions on a unique door project I had and doing the installation. The end result turned out beautifully!

Excellent. Paul gave us many options to consider and he can get creative with ideas. His worker (Steve?) was also great. We installed wood trim around all doors and windows around the home and we are pleased. If you are living in the home then protect & cover your furniture. It gets dusty. Paul also went out of his way to fix a door and step for us. We will have Spectacular back soon!

Working with Paul to install crown moulding in my condo was a very easy, stressfree process. From the very beginning he was very knowledgeable about the different types of mouldings and what would look best for my home. He never pressured me into installing anything I wasn't comfortable with and worked with me to get the best possible outcome. On the day of installation, it really showed how organized, professional, and skillful he was as he had everything installed and looking beautifully within a day. Even with tough working conditions within my condo complex, he didn't skip a beat and finished on time. My wife and I absolutely love the new crown moulding as it really transforms our space to make it look very polished. I would recommend Paul to anyone as it was a pleasure working with him.

Paul was super helpful with advising us on where to get the materials at the best cost, and what type of materials to use given the specs of the room. When he and his partner arrived, they worked quickly but carefully, making sure that the job was done perfectly. Two hours later, or room had beautiful crown moulding and we are thrilled with the results!

Great guy. Orgiinally found him on Yelp and really upfront about everything. His estimate was not the cheapest, but it didn't matter to me because it was so obvious over the phone that he knew far more than other fly-by-night carpenters I had spoken to. Now that he has worked on my house for several weeks and continuing, I feel that his prices are very reasonable considering the amount of experience, knowledge, and timeliness he brings to the table. Very happy with the work. Has been 6 months since work was completed and everything still looks really good.

Paul is very knowledgeable and explained why we might want to try certain styles over others, what to look for when picking it out, etc. He's friendly and professional and the installation was so fast! The work looks perfect, I'm so glad we found him.

Great experience. I contacted him via phone and received a call back. We discussed my crown moulding needs (which were simple) and he sent me some photos to confirm the style I was requesting. A few days later he came out to install the moulding, right on time. It was completed same-day and looks great!

I cannot say enough good things about Paul and his company Spectacular Trim. He exceeded my expectations in all aspects of his work. He is not only an expert finish carpenter, he has a great sense of style and made many outstanding suggestions that we ultimately adopted for how we should trim out our home. We have a very large home with several areas of high ceilings exceeding 20' in height. Paul completed crown moldings and window casings throughout every room in our home, and the finished work is of the highest quality. The crew at Spectacular Trim not only produce work of high quality, but they are very conscientious about arriving when promised and leaving an immaculate workplace when they leave. In addition to his great workmanship, Paul is also an outstanding communicator. He would regularly call, text or email me with status on material orders as well as estimates for the many phases of our project. If you are looking for the highest quality of workmanship for a finish carpentry project Spectacular Trim will not disappoint. Highly recommended!!!!

Spectacular Trim's design was good; his execution was terrible. He built the frames of the pilasters in his shop with inaccurate measurements. When placed in position on sight, the pilasters did not clearly fit on the existing masonry base and Paul did not have the sense to correct the sizing problem on his own. When the trim was placed on each masonry base, it was clearly too large to fit the design. Each column and trim pieces were not equal distance all way round each pilaster, in some cases 1 1/2 inches off one side or the other. One pilaster was not even perpendicularly level. Paul always had an excuse for everything. Perhaps he was over his head on this job. The job was ultimately corrected to a point but the oversized issue was never corrected; it was tolerated. We wanted him gone. Even his estimate contained errors! I expect have this work done again as soon as I can find a reliable woodworker and contractor. The execution quality clearly does not match the other work done on my home. I have never been successful with anyone found on Angies's List.

Paul was very creative in tackling this project and I am very happy with the outcome! Long story short, my contractor left my kitchen remodel incomplete with 90 percent of the work done but finishing touches still left to do. I am an extremely busy art teacher and I was having a difficult time finding someone who was a skilled professional and who could accommodate my schedule. Also, someone who would commit to a smaller job as if it were as important as a bigger one. But Paul was timely with emails as we tried to set up a good time to do an estimate for work and he confirmed with me the night before work was to be done. On the job, he quickly figured out a way to blend existing baseboard with new baseboard to create a virtually seamless look in various rooms and I was pretty amazed with his ingenuity! Also, he stuck to the price he originally quoted me-impressive! Lastly, he does not leave any trash on homeowner's property as I have encountered so many times before. Overall, dependable and fair-good quality of work-nice guy!

Paul installed crown molding in our four bedrooms. Paul and his assistant were very professional and were able to work around the furniture we had in our bedrooms. The crown molding was cut on site (outside) and no mess was left behind. My wife and I are painting and updating what we can throughout our house room by room. When we finish our work I will not hesitate to ask Paul to come back out and add crown and/or base molding to the rest of our house (hallways, living room, family room, etc.). On a side note, I have installed crown/base molding myself in the past and let me say having someone come in and complete in one day what would have taken me several months is a nice change.

Paul is an all around super talented, great guy. Very professional from our first encounter. Responded to all my emails in a timely manner. Explained the entire process, gave us an estimate based on the information i provided him and how long the job would take. Took 1 day to complete the job, this guy is a true artist, his attention to detail is phenomenal. We are extremely happy with his work and will rehire him again in the future. We highly recommend him, his work will transform your home. This is actually the second time we hire him for a job, our first time was back in September of 2014 we had our bedroom done. We put up crown, base and shoe. His service fee for that job was $650 + $300 for materials. We are new homeowners and can't afford to do all the work we wish at the same time and Paul totally understands, there is no pressure from him to do more than what we can afford. And he is happy to work with us and do our home in sections. We are so thankful for his work and attention to detail. He has given us great ideas for future projects too.

Paul was very honest and professional. He explained how his work is done and provided samples of final results for new installed trim. He also explained very well how his pricing is calculated and that allowed us to make a very well informed decision to keep our existing trim and refinish it, rather than install new one.

This is the third time we have had Paul install the crown moulding in our home. He is the consummate professional and we have become addicted to the beautiful crown moulding that now we have in every room! The most impressive work he did this time was to install the crown moulding on our second story and also put in the window sill and casing on the large picture window way high up! He had to construct a safe and secure ladder on our hardwood floors with a narrow walkway above. It made my heart stop to see him up there and I should have taken his picture! But all is fine and the results are beautiful. I couldn't put the price because of so many variables, but it was very, very reasonable considering the work. Now we are looking for some wainscoting on the staircase....

The name of Paul's company says it all...spectacular. Paul is the consummate professional who enjoys his work. He did a terrific job and we are going to be employing him for more beautiful moulding. Not only does he do great work, but his prices are truly competitive.

Paul was a true professional. He responded to my inquiry promptly and we worked out an install date following a rough estimate for the labor part of the work prior to the job. Once onsite, Paul showed us a number of different types of crown molding and we chose one we were very happy with. He and his co-installer Steve then went to a supply house not too from our location and picked up the molding. Once on site, they cut the molding to size and installed it in the two rooms and living room. This is a sizable job that took most of the day. A few of the corners could be a little more true but overall, we are very pleased with the look and the quality of the work. One lesson we learned is that do not install crown molding unless you plan to paint the walls. Paul and Steve automatically caulk the corners and the top of the molding and fill all nail holes, but the caulking of the bottom must wait until wall paint time. I would ask them to do both top and bottom and that way, you'll be ready to go with priming and painting the trim followed by painting the walls.

This is not the first time I've used Paul to do crown moulding. He had done beautiful work back in mid 2000s in my former home. In this new smaller house I asked him to do the crown and base moulding in various parts of the large living room/dining area/bedroom/bathroom and hallway. In addition, he hand made new closet drawers and doors, as well as doors for four basement cabinets. He does beautiful finish carpentry in addition to the moulding. I can't say enough about the quality of his work. It is indeed spectacular and I would not hesitate to recommend him for any job large or small.

Paul is a true artist when it comes to installing molding and figuring out problems before they become problems. I have a 1000 sq foot condo and had crown molding installed throughout: living room, dining room, and bedroom. Because there was no where for him to cut the molding on site he spent a couple of hours measuring the walls and cut the molding in his shop and then brought the pieces the day of the job. Also, some of the pieces were too big to bring up through the elevator so Paul hoisted them up and over my balcony. The entire job only took one day to complete and my condo looks 10x better. Very pleased with the job. The price was a bit more expensive than some of the other quotes I received. However, well worth it in my book. Thanks, Paul!
