We met with 3 reputable contractors initially, all recommendations from close friends. Terry was competitive with his bid. But, as important, he was very easy to work with, straight-talking, trustworthy, and struck a confidence-inspiring balance of grasping the vision of what we wanted as well as all the small details. Terry worked very well with our architect, Serina. He usually solved any problems himself, but he got advice from Serina on some of the architectural aspects, like archways over a new window seat and entry-way, and tile layout in keeping with the 1930?s style of the rest of the house. Terry was very collaborative in discussing with us how and why things were being done. He came up with options for our decision without getting into so much detail that our eyes glazed over. When surprise repairs came up (like dry-rot), Terry was always fair about the extra work. He didn't bulk at last-minute changes, like increasing the size of the kitchen-window to make it as large as possible. We also really appreciate that he kept an eye open for places we could save money, for example, not doing a copper roof over the window seat as it isn't very visible, and getting us a great deal on a marble shelf for our bay-window. We lived in the house during the renovation. "Terry and the guys" were wonderful to have around "always polite, honest, professional and hard working." They were also very kind to our two young children and kept an eye open for their safety. We trusted the team completely when we went on vacation for a month during the 4-month project. It was a little strange having our temporary "kitchen" (laundry room) double as the entrance to the house. But, hard though this is to imagine, we actually missed seeing everyone once the work was finished!Terry?s hard work has left us thrilled with the results. Our house is transformed. Our new kitchen is beautiful as well as functional. We enjoy the new window seat and dining area every day. It is a joy to throw open the new French doors and watch the kids in the yard. The architectural details are stunning. We unreservedly recommend "Terry and the guys" to anyone for any project, large or small. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Description of Work: We completed a major renovation with"Terry and the guys" (as named by our 6 and 4-year old boys). The scope included demolishing all the walls between our kitchen, sunroom and dining room, new windows, new French doors and brickwork in the yard, replacing windows in most of the other rooms, redoing a leaking shower and other repairs.
