Description of Work: no services performed; I live in SF and am a retired clergy person; needed a locksmith and a friend recommended using Angie’s list, which I did on Thursday, 9/12/2020; I contacted three names provided by Angie’s List; technician Dan from Locksmith Tech contacted me by phone; I explained I was looking for options for securing our front door; he said he would be able to come over later in the afternoon; he mentioned NOTHING about charging me a travel fee for coming to our residence; I thought he was coming to provide an estimate but didn’t expect to be charged; I would NOT have allowed him to come to our residence if I had known he would charge us $75; he arrived at our residence with his tools and a lock ready to install on our door; I felt I was being hustled and I told him I would need to consult first with my wife, who was not available at the time; much to my surprise, he said he would have to charge me $75 for his call but that if we accepted his proposal (which turned out to be much more expensive than those provided by other locksmiths on Angie List!), he would credit part of the travel fee; I felt he was taking advantage of me because I was an older person and a retired clergy person; I paid him but expressed my displeasure to him that he hadn’t indicated in our prior phone conversation that he would charge us $75 to come to our house; Technician Dan should have scheduled his visit through Locksmith Tech’s dispatcher, who should have told me ahead of time about the travel fee to allow me to decide whether he should come to us!
