Nelson Vu and his helpers were very punctual and thorough. He quickly responded to my request for an estimate, and when selected was able to start the job very quickly. His crew was hardworking and efficient, and they moved my existing furniture out of the way without delay. They were able to prepare the bedroom for hardwood floor installation in about a half day, including furniture moving, removal of old carpet, installation of a wooden subfloor, and pickup of wood from the lumber store. The actual work was performed while I was away on vacation, and Nelson and crew were trustworthy enough for me to leave the key. The installation and finishing took 4 days, as they have to install the floor, sand, stain, and apply multiple (3) coats of finish which requires 12+ hours to dry in-between coats. The job looked professional and I was very satisfied. Next they performed refinishing of 800 square feet of existing hardwood floors. Again they were very punctual and professional. The crew moved furniture and made the preparations quickly and readily. Again, they performed the work while I was out of town (recommend this for anyone as you will need to relocate from your home for 3-4 days during the sanding and finish work). When I returned I was not 100% satisfied with the work-there were faint circular scratch marks which were apparent to me (perhaps more visible due to the glossy - not semigloss-finish which I had requested). Nelson claimed to have a hard time seeing these, and I must admit I am very particular with these kinds of projects. As a remedy, Nelson offered to buff and add an additional coat of finish. He started this work immediately (same day), and I moved out for 2 days while he completed this work. The fix-up worked, and I was satisfied with the results after his additional efforts. One additional thought is that for future hardwood floor jobs, I would insist on "100% dust free" refinishing. Newer sanders are available with vacuum attachments that are supposed to capture ALL dust. My floor experience was quite dusty and required major cleanup efforts to remove dust from the house.
