Kathleen Monroe Design

This project had to managed by Kathleen and me from long distance, When Kathleen and I actually were on site many decisions had to be made quickly, sometimes over night. Kathleen's project management skills made that process possible. Kathleen created excellent and collaborative relationships not just with me (the client) but with the many contractors and vendors that were involved in making a complete overhaul happen and did an excellent job of staying in communications with us at all steps in the creative process. This is a large part of the value of a design partner. Kathleen has a great skill and talent for color, space, scale, light and textures. She certainly respected my taste preferences and was also able to take them to the next level which I could never do for myself creating spaces more beautiful than I could have imagined. My goal for our home was certainly comfort, but we did not have to sacrifice style in order to obtain comfort. Kathleen worked hard to propose things within budget and helped me determine when I could save or splurge in order to increase my satisfaction, style and comfort. She is a true collaborator and I get compliments on her design decisions every time somebody new is introduced to our space. It is important to remember that design IS a CREATIVE process and that there are a lot of conversations, learning curves and decisions that go into making a beautiful space. In the end the partnership between client and designer is one of mutual trust, respect and communication at every step of the way. There are a lot of moving parts and a lot of people who have to be depended upon which sometimes creates movement of your dates in and out of your proposed timeframe. As a client I am happy that Kathleen encouraged me to hang in there with the many moves and changes that happen because after it's all over, you forget about how long a chair took to be delivered and just enjoy the beautiful creation and how happy it makes you . Some things are just worth the wait!
