We could not be more please with the work and their professionalism. During the selection process we went and looked at several previous exterior projects completed in various years. We were struck by the durability and obvious quality of the H & F projects. Jill French is extremely knowledgeable about paint and products. A lot of experience and consideration went into the decisions about our house. We highly recommend them to anyone who wants a quality paint job that is going to last. Also, the color work was invaluable. The crew was very professional, pleasant and easy to have around.

We had a total of four bids for this job. Heather and French were the highest by about five percent, so we agonized a bit over our decision. What decided us in the end was our initial consultation with Alison Heather. She was very helpful in explaining what would be done and very straightforward in telling us how she would price the job. She said the people working on our house had been with her company for years and took great pride in their work. Everything she said turned out to be true. The crew working on our house were wonderful. They were fast, they worked incredibly hard and they were painstaking in every detail. The job involved jumping a fence to work on one side of the house that was only accessible from a neighbor's yard. The painters were meticulous in making sure they did no damage to the fence and cleaned up completely in the neighbor's yard. Everything they touched turned out beautifully. They took a great deal of pride in the work as it progressed and seemed really committed to the project. Jill French, one of the owners, was on the job several days and her consulting help with the color scheme and the placement of the colors was invaluable. The result has been getting a steady stream of compliments from neighbors and passers-by. I would hire them again for any painting job. They are outstanding.

I wanted to take a minute to leave a good word on Angie's about Heather and French Painting. Alison Heather came to our house to provide an estimate on our toilet room and front door. Despite the fact that this was probably a smaller job than usual, Alison was extrememly professional, thoughtful and thorough. Importantly, I was really happy I had a chance to meet Alison. It was immediately obvious that Alison and her partner run a great company. Alison mentioned that all of their employees are actual employees and are paid a fair wage. Alison really knows her craft too - she took a lot of time to look at the project and point out helpful things, such as the fact that our newly installed window was not properly sealed, that our newly installed dry wall needed some additional prep work that wasn't obvious and that the problem with our front door was laminent based, not merely an aging problem. Alison's written estimate was also very detailed and professional, if not downright impressive. We ended up choosing a different painter based solely on price, which to Alison's credit she mentioned may be higher than other painting companies. We were happy with the painter that we selected for our small, fairly straightforward project, but if you have a difficult paint job or you have very high standards, I would recommend you consider having Alison and Heather and French come see the job and provide you with an estimate.

Great!! Very professional despite some unfortunate circumstances, (their offices were broken into, computers stolen,etc... just after our initial contact). Excellent crew, great attitude and attention to detail. Their bid was not the lowest, but it was the most professional and thorough. They kept me informed, were punctual, worked clean and were very understanding of the idiot delivery person that walked right over the barriers and on their prep!

H&F painted my new office. It is the 3rd project they have done for me and I was again really happy with the results. Their work was detailed and clean and they were extremely easy to deal with. They do what they say they are going to do. I felt their crew was really professional and trustworthy and I was completely comfortable leaving them in my home and office. They did the color work and it looks beautiful also saved me from a bad decision on the carpet choice. I wouldn't use any other painting company.

Alison came over promptly after we called for an estimate, and during a walk through she provided advice on how prep work and painting could be done most effectively. H&F's bid was the best we received, and they also were flexible in agreeing to perform the work in two phases to accommodate our schedule. Phase one included the living and dining areas, studio room, kitchen and hallway. Phase two was the two bedrooms, bathrooms and closets. H&F's crew was young, pleasant, courteous and was very well supervised by Jill, who was always available and easily reached when questions arose. Due to track lighting previously installed in the living and dining areas and hallway, the prep work and painting all needed to be carefully done by hand. Because this took more time than expected (and because we discovered the former owner's painter had slopped paint on many parts of the track lighting that required extra cleanup) we extended the job for an extra day. Phase two involved considerable detail work in the bathrooms and around new ceiling track lighting we had installed. Because the former owner had painted one of the bedrooms a dark charcoal gray, it was necessary to extend phase two for another extra day to put on four coats instead of two before the shade of gray was completely eliminated. After the work was completed we did a walk through and found everything had been done to perfection. No final touch ups were necessary.

I was very disappointed. The company came to my house to do an estimate, they were right on time. Timeliness fell apart when it came to providing the estimate. They promised an estimate on Tuesday or Wednesday. I followed up on Wednesday because there had been no response. They didn't even bother to return my message until Friday and then told me that they had big jobs and wouldn't be available until next year. The woman who came to do the estimate seemed pretty uninterested from the get go. I'm not sure why she spent her time or mine. I get the feeling that maybe they focus more in SF so if you're in the East Bay, take care.

I found Heather & French through Angie's List and couldn't have found a better company!!! They were very professional and suggested right finishes for the very dark accent wall and functional areas such as kitchen. The owner was very involved in QC and updating me on the progress. Their prep work was superb and clean up upon completion was notable. I would highly recommend them to friends, relatives, and clients (I'm a designer).

Alison did a very thoughtful walk-thru prior to bidding - got to know our style, level of quality, etc. She wrote a very detailed bid which included all the pertinent details (many of which I requested). She was open minded and attentive. She consulted on color and is clearly very experienced. Her advice and suggestions were outstanding. She was flexible and up front with job scheduling and communication. She would rapidly follow up and get back to me within a day when I had questions. The crew did an exceptional job of masking and protecting our other rooms - to avoid dust. They performed a very high quality level of prep (which is what makes their quality exceptional). They painted (rolled, brushed and sprayed) with exceptional quality. They finished with super-clean lines and fixed every single little drip or smudge. They finished the job exactly on time and were a pleasure to work with. While a little more expensive than other bids - their quality level was worth the investment. Our house looks fantastic. Also notable was that the crew did a great job of keeping the work area and their equipment storage clean and tidy a sign of high quality professionals.

Fabulous, really good painters and good to work with. My house was difficult to pick colors for and they helped me with color consulting and they are very good.

They did extraordinary quality work. They were very pleasant to have in my home. They were happy and polite. They were very helpful and patient helping me to choose colors of paint. They were detail oriented and had a high standard of workmanship for themselves. They were very responsive and accommodating when I had them do extra things that I hadn't planned on doing at the beginning. When they painted the outside, they were so very careful not to damage the plants in my garden that grew close to the house. They also cleaned up after themselves. They were a little expensive, but definitely worth the final result.

I was selling my house and only had a few days to have it painted and fixed up before closing. I called a number of painting companies on Angie's List but only Heather and French responded. Allison Heather came to my house a day later to give me an estimate. She was very honest, telling me that her company wasn't the least expensive. I told her I knew that but I wanted the job done well and that I heard that her company does that. And they did. They actually went above and beyond what they said they would do. In addition to all the painting, texturing, and fixing of holes they also left the place cleaner than it was when they started. And they completed the work earlier than expected. They also kept in constant communication with me regarding the status of the work which I really appreciated. I would definitely use this company again. I highly recommend them.

It went very well. The estimate was done within less than a week of my calling. It was not uncommon for us to add a task here and there. The team always arrived on time, were respectful of our schedules. Alison and her team helped determine the effect of tree oils/insect debris that had come down on the house and how to solve the problem. They were very responsive to phone and email questions.

I called the painting contractor & told her what I wanted to have done. She came out to my house to take a look & give me some suggestions on paint color, type & brand. After I accepted her bid, she had her crew arrive promptly with-in the week & start power washing the entire facade of the house, front steps & adjoining masonry. Next, the painters painted several large sample color combinations on my house so that I could get a real sense of how they would appear. Once I picked out the colors, they proceeded to prep & prime my house. After the primer was dry, they came back to put on another 2 coats. They were very careful around the trim on my Victorian house. They taped & covered the adjacent areas & did an exceptionally pristine job. I am very happy with the work they did on my house.

From the day that we contacted them they were extremely professional and prompt. In providing the estimate, they clearly knew what they were doing, making very helpful suggestions ranging from colors to paint type (including the eco-friendly paint) and general costs. Their estimate came in middle of the road, but ultimately their knowledge and professionalism compelled us to hire them over anyone else. During the job, they were again very prompt, reliable, full of suggestions, and generally very professional. We are very pleased with their work, and will likely use them again for exterior work in the near future.

Heather and French were recommended to us and we called them for an estimate to paint the entire interior of our home. Upon arriving, Alison noted we were having some challenges picking out complimentary colors. We asked if they could help us in picking out the right colors throughout our home. They did and the results were fantastic. In addition, they provided a thorough description of the project and an accurate time-line for completion. We are very pleased with the experience and the outcome.

They advised with color design, did exceptional restoration and prep work, and performed the highest quality painting. The painters are very professional and respectful, and the two people who own and manage the company have tons of experience and are very easy to work with. They are timely, considerate and do first rate work. I will never use any other painting contractors as long as I live in the Bay Area. I have recommended them to all my friends. Their work is very high-quality and will add value to your home.

We had a great experience with this company. The owners and workers are prompt, professional, and reliable. The painting job was done extremely well, with high standards of quality and esthetics. We will definitely hire this company again and would recommend to others.
