They tried to talk me into getting the NORTON antivirus from the time i called to get they cross street location of the shop. I told them that I had a paid years contract with USTech Support . I just wanted the virus cleared and the "CD" door fixed. Mid week someone called and once again tried to sale me the NORTON anti-virus. On Friday the 12 of April I got the call to pick up my comptuer. When I picked it up my first question was "does the "CD" door work". I was told by the person on duty that indeed it did and that he had used it two or three time that day. When I connected my computer that late afternoon the first thing I tried was the "CD" door. It did not and "does not work". The rest of the systum seemed to be "OK". I did notice my weather program was gone. The next morning my USTech Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus had run as programed during the night. The problem now was, and is, I can;t cleare the item from the Aniti -Spy program. I have since noted that my US Tech PC Optimizer is removed too. I could have caled the USTech support line and had them do the job that I paid for, but I wanted and needed to have the "CD" door fixed! That and that alone is why I called Angie's list to get a trusted service provider to do both jobs. Now I will have fined someone to fix my "CD' door plus call US Tech to reinstall both my Anti-virus and PC Optimizer programs.
Description of Work: Remove "FBI" Virus was the number (1) one reason.The Number (2) reason was to repair the "CD" Door that would not open. Nothing more and notheing less. Their statement sheet I received upon pick up the 12TH of April doesn't show my request to fix the "CD" door.It show items I did not request; the likes of tuneup, MS update, defrag. All work was done at shop location 1500 Castro Street San Francisco, CA. 94114

I had some problems with it and they came and diagnosed it and repaired it. They are responsive and quite prompt. They could be a little more expensive than the norm.

OVERALL, JOE'S VISIT WAS VERY, VERY HELPFUL. HE KNOWS APPLE (MAC) AS WELL AS DELL, IBM, ETC. HE TOLD US THE DOES AND DON'T WHEN IT COMES TO BUYING A NEW COMPUTER.
Description of Work: PC CRASHED. NEEDED TO RECOVER FILES AND SEEK INFORMATION ABOUT REPLACING THE OLD PC. JOE WAS ABLE TO PULL FILES FROM THE OLD HARD DRIVE. HE MADE SEVERAL RECOMMENDATIOINS ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT COMPUTER. HE IS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE. ONCE WE HAVE DECIDED WHICH OPTION TO TAKE (PC OR LAPTOP OR BOTH,) HE WILL COME BACK AND INSTALL. HE WAS PUNCTUAL AND GOT DOWN TO WORK AS SOON AS HE ARRIVED. JOE WAS HELPFUL WITH INFORMATION ON ALL THE OPTIONS HE GAVE US. FROM THE INFO PROVIDED WE WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE A DECISION ON WHAT TO BUY AND WHERE TO BUY. WE GOT THE PROS AND CONS ON VARIOUS PROVIDERS. HE WAS BUDGET CONSCIOUS , PRESENTING OPTIONS SUCH AS "XYZ COMPANY IS GOOD, BUT THEY ARE SORT OF EXPENSIVE. LOOK HERE, THEY ARE CHEAPER, BUT JUST AS GOOD THE OTHER STORE." GAVE US SOME CAVEATS AOBUT THAT VARIOUS STORES MAY TRY TO SELL US OM SERVIVES OR PROGRAMS WE DON'T NEED. GAVE WARRANTY INFO, CSUCH AS GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE STORE, NOT THE COMPANY. IF YOU GET THE STORE WARRANTY IT WILL BE EASIER TO GET SERVICE RIGHT AWAY. A LOT OF THE COMPANIES WILL AMKE YOU SEND THE COMPUTER/LAPTOP TO THEM.. THE STORE WILL JUST TAKE THE DEFECTIVE ONE BACK AND GIVE YOU A NEW ONE. INFORMATION LIKE THAT IS HELPFUL WHEN WE DECIDE WHICH PRODUCT TO PURCHASE.

Description of Work: My screen was off. I went to the Geek Squad where they backed my laptop up and told me there was nothing I could do except buy another one. It cost me $100. I went to Castro Computer Services where a very nice lady with a parrot on her shoulder looked at my computer, pulled the battery pack out and put the same batter pack back in. It seems I had dropped the computer and dislodged the battery connector. Finished in less than 5 minutes and cost me $0.00!!!! I would go nowhere else. Loved them.
