I would give them a B grade for the overall experience and responsiveness. For the punctuality and professionalism, I would give them an A. I would not consider them in future; it?s somebody who does hard work, that matters in that case.

I had used Carpet Contractors for a carpet installation 8 years ago; that job went quickly, inexpensively and professionally. And they had good reviews on other lists, despite a bad review here. So I decided to work with them again on some vinyl flooring. I had to reschedule them twice. Despite this disruption, they were able to get the job done by the tenant move-in date. At the end of the job, there was a little confusion about patching an area that a plumber had cut open ? but we got back on the same page. Carpet Contractors located some matching material and made an extra trip to deliver it so that we could cover the damage from the plumber. Since I couldn?t be in town, I figured a few things could go wrong ? I was happy that this installer was flexible enough to deal with issues as they came up - and not just disappear when it wasn't a "cookie-cutter" installation

After getting estimates from 3 carpet suppliers, I selected Carpet Contractors because the price was reasonable and my experience was very good during the initial measurement and bid process (showed up on time, got back to me promptly, etc). I already knew what carpet I wanted and they were able to order it quickly (5 days). As soon as it came in, I scheduled an installation for the next day. The installation was done over 2 days - master bedroom on day 1 and other bedrooms on day 2. On day 1, the installers were supposed to come between 11:30-12:30 - they showed up at 2:45. No one called to tell me they would be late. The first day, the installers were careful and cleaned the room well before installing. There was some miscommunication about the thresholds in the room - two carpet/tile transitions and one hardwood/carpet transition. The installer explained that he had to build up a "ramp" on the transitions, which I assumed he meant the tile/carpet ones. Our hardwood contractor had left threshold pieces that they were going to install after the carpet went down. At the end of the day, I saw that they had done one tile/carpet transition and the wood/carpet transition but left one tile/carpet transition unfinished. Besides the threshold confusion, the job looked great. The next day I went down to the showroom to ask about the threshold with pictures of the job and the wood threshold piece I had. The woman working did not know if it was done correctly or if I should call my wood contractor to have them fix the wood thresholds before installing the carpet in the other rooms. I decided to wait and ask the installers when they came back on day 2. Day 2 did NOT go well. The installers were supposed to come at 9:00. At 9:00 I got a call saying they would come at 2:30. I waited until 3 - no show. I called and was told 4:30. At 4:30 I called and was told 5:30. They finally showed at 6:30pm! It was a different crew on day 2 and they were in a hurry because of the late start. They threw the carpet on the rainy, wet street to measure it and then told me it was too short! I called the office and was told there should be enough carpet to cover the 2 other rooms, but they had to put a seam at the closet. I was originally told that there would be no seams - both at the measure time and when I scheduled the installation - so this was a surprise. The office tried to tell me that this is what we had agreed upon and it saved me $250, but this was the first I was hearing this. It felt like they screwed up and were trying to cover it up. I agreed to the seam and the installers began work. A positive thing is that they did help me by moving some furniture for me that was heavy. The negative is that they were not careful (scuffs on freshly painted walls and baseboards) and did not clean up well. They cracked a tile when completing the remaining tile/carpet transition. They said they would come back after the wood threshold pieces had been installed to finish those off.

The price was great and the selection was unbelievable. They were very fast and I was amazed at the service.
