Cabrillo Plumbing

I got them on a deal from Angie's List. They were excellent. I kept all their stuff and I would definitely call them if I needed plumbing. I was really impressed by the person who came. They were very honest and informative. I really liked them. He even left me a brand new wrench to turn off the gas when there is an earthquake. He also made sure that I totally understood how to turn the gas off. I felt like that they didn't have to do that but they did that. I felt like they cared about their business. I would tell people by all means if they need plumbing to give them a call. I felt the integrity of the company is as good as the guys they send out. I would have no problem with them or recommending them.

They sent a VERY professional person. He checked all things and gave me a written report. He also showed me how to shut off outside gas and left a wrench. Only two area were a question (not even a big concern)...he showed me each and explained. I told my husband if I need plumbing I would DEFINITELY call this company.

On time. Good communication. Thorough.

They did a fabulous job. They went through the entire house and advised all the work to be done in detail. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

Plumber was polite, but I think he felt he had found someone pretty gullible. I asked for an estimate to replace the 40 gal water heater and was given one that was approx $3000. As it turns out the replacement was bundled with things that I didn't need. When the plumber told me that 40 gal tanks were way more expensive than 50 gal, because they were not used much anymore, alarm bells went off. A quick visit to Home Depot's website proved that to be untrue, in every case. I got two more estimates from Angie's list plumbers that were 68% and 62% cheaper overall, and removing the things I DIDN'T need, 39% and 36% less than Cabrillo's replacement cost for the heater and installation. I ended up spending just under $1300. Bottom line, do your homework. Trust Angie's List. I had Cabrillo's come in because of "The Big Deal" special they had, ignoring their "B" rating. ***Update: It is now July 8 and I've not heard from these folks. Furthermore, I'm not particularly interested in hearing from them now, since it's obvious that they're "talking the talk, but not walking the walk". Just answering on Angie's list isn't fixing a problem, it's tantamount to false advertising, leaving the reader to think you actually attempt to remedy issues.

Excellent value and extremely professional service.

They are very good on the phone - you get a real person and a scheduled appointment immediately. The quality of their work is solid. The prices are a little high, (not excessive), but I think they represent good value for money. I know I can count on them.

I needed the work done quickly due to renovation where tilework required working heat. I contacted them and they came out the next day to give a written estimate. I gave the go-ahead and they began the work 2 hours later. Work took two days but this was faster than original estimate of three days. All work appears well-done and professional. Price was probably higher than others although I had no time to do comparisons. However the work was well-done and I would consider them in the future. Work included a one year warranty and free inspection/"tune up" if needed.

As a landlord I have these guys on speed dial for all the inevitable clogged drains (5+ times in the last couple years) and 2 faucet replacements. Great prices, quick and responsive service.

They have always been excellent. We spent about $1500 on that work. They are good, reputable and they show up when they are supposed to. Their people are clean and professional and they even wear the little booties. They first showed my son and his wife what was wrong with the furnace and what needed to be done before they pulled it out. Once the unit was in, they took the time to explain to both of them about its maintenance and care, and took time to make them comfortable with it. They were expensive, but worth it.

The last job he did for me was very well done.

I?ve been using them for about 15 years and I?ve always been very satisfied. They aren?t the cheapest plumbers but they are reliable, trustworthy, and they do what they say. I really have no qualms about letting them in my house or having them here when I have to run an errand. Also, they don?t pad their bills.

The service was alright, however the cost was ridiculously high. The technician spent two hours on the installation and the charge was $625. Please note this does not include the cost of the equipment itself. The technician tried to talk me out of using the equipment that I purchased and buy a disposer from him, saying mine was poor quality, although it was highly rated in Consumer Reports. He was also not able or willing to give a breakdown of his costs saying there was a flat fee for installation. In addition, Cabrillo charges for an estimate.

Cabrillo Plumbing fixed the clogged waterline, but re-assembled the sink incorrectly. They then suggested that I replace the entire sink at a price of $500-$1000. I checked the sink myself after they had left and found that the faucet had been inserted incorrectly. I was able to fix this problem myself.

The work went extremely well. One plumber was involved and he had to come by multiple times over the course of two weeks to do the work and coordinate with our landscape people. Every step was approached, investigated, with options laid out. The level of communication and explanation was excellent.

I think they are a rip off. He told me I would have tear out the entire shower. I found someone else to do it for a 1/4 of the cost.

Every time I have used Cabrillo they've done great work. They always arrive within a few minutes of the scheduled time and the office people call if there is an issue to keep you informed. I have never had a problem with their work. They are clean and quick and do not damage fixtures / furniture. As mentioned in other reviews, they are expensive in relation to other plumbers. However, they do offer $50 coupons which help quite a bit for smaller jobs. The "B" rating factors the price heavily as their overall value for me drops due to the prices they charge. Otherwise, they are top-flight.

We thought this company was great, initially. We called them on several occasions for various repairs. They were very responsive, mostly quite punctual, and workmen were careful, clean, and well-mannered. However - when we called them for the 3rd of 4th (or 5th, or 6th?) time for on-going toilet repair problems, we began to wonder and called a different plumber. The new plumber fixed all toilet and dripping faucet problems the FIRST time. I had planned to give Cabrillo a good recommendations, but not after these experiences. Their estimates are fairly high, they want to replace things that could be repaired (which we realized when a different plumber managed to repair things), etc. We reached a final (and satisfactory) agreement with Cabrillo about what work we would pay for, and do not plan to call them again.

The work was good work. I would have appreciated it if he would of told me that he was going to replace the cast iron pipe with a copper pipe. My complaint would be that he didn't discuss the job with me first.

I called on Saturday afternoon, between 4 & 5 pm because I discovered that my spare bathroom toilet was not draining & the washtub in my garage was overflowing, indicating a major blockage somewhere in my line. The individual who answered the phone at Cabrillo was very interested in whether or not I was a previous customer. I said no, but that I got their name from Angie's List and their recent TV ads. I gave her the details of the problem and said that it was urgent, particularly since I had dinner guests coming. She told me someone would contact me momentarily. By about 6:30 pm (more than 90 minutes later), no one had called, so I called again. I had to start all over detailing the problem as though they never heard of me. I was told someone would call. NO ONE EVER CALLED! I finally had to get another company who did fix the problem. As of 2:30 pm, Sunday, nearly 24 hours later, they still have not had the courtesy to call me. They would have to do a lot for me to every trust them!

The total project cost was estimated at $3200, because of substantial wall-removal required. I forwarded the estimate to the landlady, who nearly died. The diagnosis was used by the handyman she hired to do the work. The handyman was much less expensive, but the work was haphazardly done and now the faucet is slow (none of this, obviously, if the fault of Cabrillo). The gentleman from Cabrillo was highly professional, neat and thorough. I feel the $69 estimate fee was fair and well-spent.

Excellent work both times, but they grossly overcharged me the second time for the faucet installation. Even the service person they sent out felt bad about the cost they insisted on. I would only use them again for help with actual problems, such as clogged drains.

I called at 8 am, and my water heater was replaced by 2 pm.

(I've used them on a few other occasions.) I had a rusted trap under the kitchen sink that I needed to replace ASAP. I left a message in the evening for a few plumbers and these are the only ones who called back the next day. They came a few hours later and did the job in 30 minutes. Easy and painless.

They are very clean about their work and they do not leave any mess at all. They showed up on time and were very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. I will call them anytime I need something for plumbing because they get it right the first time.
