Ace Plumbing & Rooter

After coming home from a weekend away and finding our kitchen sink backed up, we called Ace Plumbing. It was late in the evening on a Monday, about 8pm. They said they'd have someone out within a half hour, and they arrived right on the nose. Not only did Paul unclog the pipes he also helped us out by tighten a loose fixture on the sink at no additional charge. He was very competent, and pleasant to have in the house. He also recommended a procedure to us to help keep the pipes clear. We checked a couple other plumbers and Ace’s pricing was very competitive, so we went ahead and scheduled the appointment the following week. Again they arrived within 10 minutes of the time they said they would. And again they were competent, efficient and pleasant to deal with. In both cases they cleaned up well after they finished. I will definitely call Ace in the future, for any of our plumbing needs.

They came and they did the job. They were on time and we paid the standard fee.

This is a good company. I am an HOA president and I use them quite a bit for jobs here and there. So far I have no complaints. I used to use a plumber named Benny exclusively, but the last several times I've requested him, they've sent someone else. I'm not sure if Benny's still there, but the other plumber is pretty good too.

We've used them twice. They were excellent both times and knew what they were doing. We were very satisfied with their work. The price was average.

Everything went very well from start to finish. We have used this company twice prior and have been totally satisfied with their personnel and service. Highly recommended.

The job went perfectly. JD was the guy who came, and he was prompt and professional. Explained the situation, gave the options, seemed to have nothing invested in whatever choice we made. We decided to get rid of both water heaters (one was not working properly) and replace with one water heater. And so the water heaters were removed, the new one installed (which took some effort, since it was bigger and required pipe work). JD did a great job, and the folks on the phone, back on the office, were great, too.

Services were performed well. The crew was fast and efficient. My only frustration was with timeliness. The first time I called, I spoke to Jonathan who apparently forgot to schedule the call. When I called back (more than an hour after they were due), they booked me for later that day. Unfortunately, the plumber was more than an hour past the second timeslot as well. When he did arrive, he was courteous, apologetic and took 10% off the total for the inconvenience. He performed the service quickly and perfectly, solving the problem. I scheduled a second visit for a camera inspection the following week. Again, after waiting more than an hour past my scheduled time (between 1pm and 2pm on a Saturday), I called the dispatch (at 2:30) and finally heard from the plumber after 3pm. He had responded to an emergency 25 miles from the city so asked to reschedule a couple of days later. It would have been fine, had he not left me waiting again. Again, when they did arrive - right on schedule on the Monday, the inspection was performed perfectly. The crew was fast, efficient and professional. They explained what they were doing and showed me what they found on camera. They made a complete estimate to correct the problem on the spot. I would use ACE again, but I'd be even more insistent with the dispatcher/ scheduler regarding the appointment time and ensure they agreed to call me with changes.

I had them come out to fix my toilet. I also had sewer problems. I have terracotta pipes in my house. The city had taken cameras down there to see what the problem was. My neighbors hedge leaked into the terracotta pipes. The pipes had broken and needed to be replace with cast iron pipes. They quoted me $2800. When they came here, they got on the job right away! They determined there was more to be done that the cameras didn't show. This extra work would be an extra $1000. They then found more cast iron repairs to be done. They had great heart and understanding. They re cemented the area and everything. The guaranteed that it was done properly, and even had an inspector check the work. They also even promised me reports upon completion of the inspection. They were just unbelievable to work with. They were very efficient, polite and understanding. I cannot compliment them enough!

The plumbers showed up about an hour late .Once they were there though they went right to work and discovered the problem almost right away. They carefully and neatly cut open the ceiling downstairs and figured out the problem. They did a good job cutting off the old piping and soldiered on a new copper pipe. I had anticipated a much larger job. The price was reasonable. I will repair the ceiling myself. I would call them again for a job.

I bought a house where one of teh bathrooms only had hot water comming out of teh shower. I called ACE and they came out at an agreed upon scheduled date. Came on time and looked at teh problem and told me that I needed to repalce teh valve and teh trim piece. They prefered that I went out to buy teh piece becuase they wanted me to pick what the trim(shower handle) would like. I went and spent about 150.00 on a valve and trim and as agreed told ACE to come back in to install. Well it got later that day and they called saying tehy cannot come back until tomorrow. No problem, next day came in and installed teh valve and honored teh Angie's list coupon. Work was done. Looking back it may have been a bit pricey, but whatever maybe not. Well this is where it starts. My trim piece needed an extender to make sure it could fit over the tile (ACE would not replace tile that was my responsibility). I could not start teh tile work until teh trim piece is done. We ACE came back severasl times after I kept calling to look and relook and take pictures, each time telling me they are having trouble finding teh extension piece for teh trim. Finally over 1.5 months later teh extesion piece was put in. Overall everything works and everyone was nice, but it shouldnt have taken so long. I was put on teh back burner since they had their money and what I needed was so small after they did the real job. They did good work, but I would never use them again. imagine if I did not have any other bathrooms, no showers for months, no way. They reason i did not question their price or get other bids is becase they were at my house and I thought it could be done fast, guess not.

My sewer backed up and I called Ace, who came out on-time as promised (on a Sunday!). They diagnosed the problem as a ruptured sewer line (tera cotta pipe) which needed replacement. They were very clear about the costs, so my expectations were set immediately. Since the driveway needed to be excavated anyway, I also asked them to replace my main water line (which was only 1/2" pipe) AND add a water faucet to the front yard (which I never had). Again, they were very clear about the additional costs of these service. They were very accommodating to my needs as a customer, informed me of the work at every critical step, called me to follow up after their work was done, and went above and beyond the call of duty when it was discovered that the City line to my driveway was also leaking (they got on the phone and worked with the Water Department to come out and fix it). The City fix is still in progress, but I am certain Ace's intervention and repeated follow up with the City enabled me to avoid the likelihood of experiencing significant frustration (and wasted time) if I had to deal with that issue on my own. As a side note: Jonathan diagnosed my garbage disposal and helped clear it out (hence, avoiding the need to replace it). The entire team was top notch and professional: Jonathan, Randy, Josh, Ricardo, as well as the admin staff (Nicole). I never got any estimates from any other plumbing service because the comments that I read from Angie's list were glowing and the fact that they showed up on time when promised obviated my desire to spend additional effort on comparison shopping. I strongly recommend Ace and would have no hesitation to call upon them again if needed (although I hope I don't have to).

I checked their references on Yelps and they were okay. They were pretty responsive. The quality was acceptable in one case and sort of okay. I wouldn?t give them a resounding recommendation and would probably check another company if I need work done in the future.

I awoke to rain. Usually not a problem, but that day was different - many areas in town were flooding. In fact, water was dripping from my bathroom ceiling. I immediately suspected the roof and went to take a look. The roof was fine, but the downspout that was clogged. Water was backed up to the 4th story and was being forcing into my walls, flooding my downstairs neighbor's apartment. I called Ace in a panic. With all the rain, would they even be able to get to me today? They were able to come out within two hours! The serviceman was supremely patient in trying to figure out how to get on my roof (long funny story that involves a bent ladder and me getting stuck on the roof). After 2 hours of creative problem solving he pulled a tennis ball out of my downspout using only a steak knife. He must have been MacGyver in a previous life. Throughout the entire visit he maintained a positive attitude and we even laughed at the comical nature of it all. This is not the first time I've used Ace. They have consistently gone above and beyond on every service call. They are my "go-to" guys for any water related issue.

Estimate was shceduled within a day of my inital phone call. Very courteous person who handled the scheduling of the appointment. Sean showed up on time for the estimate, and quickly assessed the work that needed to be performed. He showed up to do the work only 2 days later, as planned. He had takent he liberty to purcahse all the neccesary materials that he estimated he would need. He ended up needing some additional items, as my sink was deeper than a typical sink. He tirelessly worked on the installation, skipping breaks, and running to and from his truck. He additionally cut holes in the sink, which was not originally in scope. Everything was done with a smile - and he never questioned the scope of the work I wanted done. I was very impressed with Sean's demeanor, and his responsiveness. What impressed me the most was that he did not hand me a bill at the end of the day. He said, let's schedule a follow-up day, for me to come back out, and make any minor adjustments that may be needed, just to make sure there are no leaks. He placed paper towels at the base of the cabinet, to serve as evidence of any leaks. There were no leaks, but I had a couple of other modifications that I asked for his help with. He spent another hour, helping to additional brace the mounting of the sink, and fixing the alignment of the faucet, and tweaked the settings for the insta-hot water connection. Only after I was completely satisfied with everything, on this second trip, did he submit the invoice - and again, only after he asked one more time if there was anything else I needed help with. I was so pleased with the level of customer service, that I will definitely call Ace Plumbing again in the future.

Joe is the manager and he is fabulous. He was responsive and has done excellent work. They created an external vent for a reasonable price and with minimal disruption in our life, and they did a good job. They were good and careful not to dirty the place, and were thoughtful and thorough. We also had a clog in our line and they found that the under ground pipe was cracked and they repaired it. To do that, they had to dig up our lawn, but they did a good job at a very fair price, and they also put a lot of man hour into it. They were professional, responsive and punctual.

They do a very good job and I have recommended them to others. They are very personable and they do not talk down to me. I have had no problems with them and always had very good experiences with them. Their charges also seem pretty reasonable.

I was having new appliances installed in the kitchen. In the course of this I found a number of problems - the gas pipe behind the stove didn't allow it to be pushed in all the way and had to be moved; the plumbing under the sink was a mess - leaking and installed wrong. Both pieces required cutting into the wall and redoing the piping. Fixing all of this was beyond my skills! I checked Angie's list for the best plumbers, and the ratings of Ace were among the best. So, I called them, and Sean came out. He was great - spent quite of bit of time figuring it all out, advising me how they would fix it, arranging a time to come back and do the work, and giving me an estimate that he said they would not exceed. He came back on time as arranged, bringing 4 guys to dive into the 2 different issues - the plumbing and the gas pipe. They did great work - and even though it obviously was quite a bit of work, he didn't change the price. These guys were the best, and I would highly recommend them to everyone. At one point I mentioned that they had great reviews in Angies List. Sean responded that they worked really hard for that rating. It shows! They're pros and deserve a frist class rating for first class work. I can't recommend anyone more highly!

It went well. Sean was prompt and kept to the estimate and gave me a discount. He tried to repair the exisiting toilet before bring my deciding on the new one.

Call to Ace (based on Angie's list ratings and comments) was to determine source of major leak from 3rd floor bathroom sink (which I knew I caused by trying to fix slow-draining issue and probably put hole in drain pipe). The initial visit to give estimate required cutting out a section of plasterboard because the leak was from pipe inside the wall. Fidel (Ace Plumber) showed me the problem - corrosion of the elbow-section of the drain - gave me estimate, explained how they would fix it and thought that the problem was caused by years of using readily available drain-cleaner products which eat away at the pipes. He commented that hopeully the damage was limited to this elbow section. He recommended an alternative drain-cleaner that would not harm pipes in the future. We scheduled the repair in short order. He estimated the job could be completed in 2 hours. However, after making the initial repair, the sink was still not draining properly so Fidel suggested that they expose a bit more of the pipe to see if there was more corrosion. Bottom line, the entire pipe along the 3rd floor was corroded and required replacement. Throughout, Fidel proceeded cautiously, trying to minimize damage to the wall and pinpoint where the corrosion stopped. Throughout, he would call me into the room to show me what was happening, make a suggestion for next step and answer my questions before proceeding based on my approval. Fidel and his assistant worked for 5 hours. They replaced the entire length of the pipe upstairs but the sink still would not drain. We agreed that the corrosion problem most likely affected the drain all the way to the main sewer hookup. Another estimate would be needed but after 5 hours of work, Fidel only charged me for the initial estimate. I was shocked. Needless to say, Ace was the company I called back for the next phase of this plumbing job and again, the estimate seemed reasonable so Fidel came back with 2 assistants to replace the remaining pipes that they thought probably ran across the house above the kitchen. In this situation, the initial plan for how they would approach the repair was adjusted based - again... on a cautious approach to limiting damage to walls/ceilings. They stayed until 8:30pm so as to finish the job; Fidel thought it would be more convenient if I had use of the bathroom sink because my elderly parents were visiting. Fidel and his assistants were extremely thoughtful in their communication, they worked extremely hard to get the job done as quickly as possible, they cleaned up after themselves and Fidel suggested that his boss knew someone whom they knew did excellent plaster work. The next day, Jonathan, the owner, called and left a message with the name and phone number of this plaster company in case I wanted to contact them. Ace Plumbing provided incredible customer service, they were on time, they made suggestions for avoiding corroding pipes and demonstrated professionalism that I have not seen in YEARS!

Pleasant enough, but not the most competent. I told them that my tub was an antique and specifically asked that they cover the bottom with thick cardboard and protect the rest with canvas sheets. They didn't and I had to remind them to every single time. In the meantime, they dropped heavy tools several times when it was not protected and put big chips in the porcelain tub. Now I have to spend an extra $500 to have it refinished. When they initially came to inspect the job, they told me that I had to have a carpenter reinforce the corner of the wall with wood studs. It cost me $200 to have that done, and when they came back to install the plumbing, they used a hacksaw to cut right through they had asked me to install! I don't know why they wanted me to do it in the first place, if they were only going to tear it apart again! When doing the final installation of the handle and finish plate, they installed them upside down, even though I had given them the manufacturer installation pamphlet. After I pointed this out, they corrected it.

Very professional, worked quickly and left no mess. Price we paid included a 15% discount for new customers.

They arrived on time and worked with both my housemate and me to discuss options. They recommended - and I chose - the least expensive option, which has outlasted the 30 day warrantee, so I'm happy.

I worked with David and he was very nice. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He was fast and meticulous. I was so impressed.
