Ace Plumbing & Rooter

From the initial phone conversation with Jasmine to the work being done by James, my experience was friendly and very professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat!

iA drip developed in our master bathroom sink. When we closed the valves under the sink, water continued to drip out of the spigot. We've used Ace three times previously and their charges ranged from $125 to $175. On this occasion, their tech came to evaluate the situation (a visit that did not trigger a bill - to their credit) and recommend a fix. He said that both angle valves under the sink needed to be replaced - and, instead of inspecting the cause of the leaky hot and cold water faucets, recommended replacing the whole faucet unit. Our home is 19 years old, but we agreed and purchased a replacement. He returned two days later and gave us a cost estimate - $270 ($250 labor + $20 parts) to replace the two angle valves and another $250 to replace the faucet unit. We asked if he would at least inspect the hot and cold water valves, but he said it would cost almost as much as replacing the unit - which we found odd. As a result, we elected only tp replace the angle valves, which he did. All-in-all he was here for one hour - and we complained that $250/hour was exorbitant. He explained that Ace charges by the task and not by the hour and that he had told us what the cost would be. We explained that we agreed to the amount assuming the work would take a couple of hours. Later that day, we realized that the hot water return system that keeps hot water about 10 seconds away from our third floor condo was no longer working and that we needed to run the water for 90 seconds before it got warm. We called and reported this and complained about the charge. The fellow we spoke to, who was apparently higher up their food chain, said (a) that only Roto-Rooter charges by the hour (we checked with them and their hourly charge is a breathtaking $360!) then (b) went on to say he'd reduce our bill from $270 to $225 - which is what he claimed he'd have charged us given how little time the work took. A few days later, the tech returned to restore the hot water return system. He insisted that, because we didn't have an electrical pump installed, we didn't really have such a system. We insisted that we do and that this had happened before when the City had turned water off in our neighborhood - and that our previous plumber had fixed it quite easily. He told us he couldn't help us and took a picture to prove to his supervisor that he'd been here and that we didn't have the return system. We called our prior plumber who said there there was a line that simply needed to be bled. We called the second gentleman we'd spoken to and reported this - and he showed up the next morning (on a Saturday - again to their credit), bled the valve and restored the hot water return. When we asked him why his $250/hour tech didn't know about this means of keeping hot water at the ready three stories up, he said he may have forgotten about it. Since then we've been referred to another plumber who charges by the hour ($140 - still a lot). We feel that the the apparently widespread practice of charging for plumbing services by the task and not the amount of time required to complete them is unacceptable. And, in this case, the fact that the first tech who did the work didn't understand about the return system we have further reinforces our decision not to use Ace again.

Cory was the repair person and he was fantastic. Several weeks ago Continential Appliance in San Francisco reinstalled a washer in dryer that they were suppose to repair. During the installation they had difficulty getting the w/d into the space that it had been very 10 years. So instead of taking their time to figure out why it was not fitting properly they proceeded to forcefully push and shove the machine into the space. After being asked to stop they said they wanted to try one more time. So the repair person took 4 steps back and rammed into the machine. At that moment he broke of the water main valve and wash came gushing out like old faithful. The repair person had no idea how to turn the water off. We had to call the fire department and they came in and looked under the kitchen sink and turned the water off. This is after the water ran and flood my unit and 7 units below mine. Whatever you do never call them for anything. Ace Plumbing did a thorough assessment of the pipes. The building required new ttype of shut off value which Cory wasn't familiar with but he quickly research the part and ordered what was needed. The next day he came back and installed the valve and provided a detail account of what he did. He was great and I will use Ace Plumbing anytime I need plumbing services and you should too.

Had a kitchen remodel last year and my brand new faucet started leaking. Called ACE for help. They were courteous, responsive, and professional. The faucet manufacturer?s replacement parts proved problematic and it couldn't be fixed the first time around - Joe spelled out he options (he could pick it up or I could call the manufacturer and request the new faucet be sent out free of charge). We requested the manufacturer replace the defective faucet, which they did, and once the new materials arrived, Joe replaced the faucet quickly and without difficulty. He showed me which parts to hold on to, explaining that the hose has a tendency to wear out over time and that you can't get a replacement hose without getting a new faucet. While he was here I asked if he could also check on a faucet in the basement. He had to go on to his next customer but came back later in the day to repair that faucet as well. I am very satisfied with the service and will definitely use them again for other plumbing needs

Scotty was terrific! He was punctual and professional from the beginning of the job until its completion. He explained everything that he was doing, gave us a few tips on how a hot water heater functions and cleaned everything up after he was finished. He even helped move our washer and dryer back into position. Because of Scotty, we we not only pleased with Ace Plumbing's work, we will not hesitate to call if we ever need any plumbing help in the future.

The service was done very well and the work area was clean after completing the installation. The plumber was professional and courteous.

Unfortunately had shower drain clog on Saturday 4 pm. Not ideal especially for a family of 4. Called Jennifer and asked for Sunday morning appt and we agreed on 10 am. Sunday morning Jennifer called on time to confirm. Corey and Anthony arrived shortly thereafter. I asked them to take off their shoes before coming in and they did with a good attitude. Within a short time the clog was removed and water was draining. The fee was reasonable considering it was a Sunday morning call. Otherwise I would have to take time off from work. Jennifer, Corey, and Anthony were pleasant and the work was performed on time for a reasonable cost. Will repeat but hopefully not for a long time.

The plumber they sent knew we were without a bathroom and managed to arrive over an hour before the scheduled appointment. He was extremely courteous, and worked with me to make sure I understood all of my options, and that everything I needed done and wanted done were understood and taken care of. Even though he managed to finish up and leave me with a completely functional house in only a few hours, the price was just what I had expected for the amount of work. I am extremely satisfied with ACE Plumbing!

We are very happy with the installation of our new Kohler toilet by Cory of Ace Plumbing & Rooter in San Francisco. He arrived during the time period scheduled. He worked quickly and efficently to remove our old toilet and install the new one. We have used Ace Plumbing & Rooter several times in the plast, previously this year to install a new hot water heater. We have found all of their plumbers to be very good. We would highly recommend Ace Plumbing & Rooter.

Phillip was awesome. He gave good estimate compared with 2 others, did the job, pleased the inspector.

It was a great deal, but the plumber kept reminding me of that the whole time he was working. He did a great job, but didn't bring his own towels to clean up.

They called before their arrival with an ETA and arrived when they stated. They completed the task within the time specified. They were neat, professional, knowledgeable and personable. The price was fair for the quality of the water heater and the work performed. I would highly recommend this company to anyone for any type of plumbing needs.

FABULOUS!!! From Jennifer, office, to James & Derek who gave estimate & did work SAME DAY as estimate was given, all were efficient, knowledgeable, & polite. I have experienced few business deals that were handled as well as this. Cost was surprisingly low. Very happy to recommend & use again.

Our whole experience with Ace Plumbing has been great! From Kris and Nina who schedule appointments and answered my endless questions to Mustafa who installed the new toilet and took away the old, we are really happy with Ace Plumbing service. Mustafa arrived at the specified time and worked hard to make the change. He showed me what he was doing and was thorough and made sure everything was cleaned up before he left. Thank you Mustafa and Ace Plumbing...we will absolutely be calling when we next need plumbing service!!

They were good, there was nothing bad. They came out and did not make a mess which is really nice. He didn't spill a drop of water on the floor which is great.

Excellent experience. Eddie was personable and very competent plus he was more than happy to let me watch him and ask questions as he worked as I always like to learn so I can be a more informed homeowner. As for the toilet, it tended to continue running after flushing and the flush value needed to be replaced. As he was working, we were talking about that it was an very old toilet that used a lot of water and what could I do to fix that without having to replace it. I asked him about putting something in the tank to displace water so it wouldn't use so much. He said I could do that but after replacing the valve, he just went ahead and adjusted it so that the toilet would not fill up to the top and would release less water (via how the flap worked) each time it flushed. No rock in the tank to displace water needed! In the kitchen, the faucet leaked badly. I asked him if it could be repaired (i.e. new washers), but with the type of faucet, he said it wasn't worth it and people generally just replaced them. I had purchased a replacement faucet already, so he installed it and no more leaks! Big water savings done by a very nice young man. And I must mention that price was a concern but not only did he honor the stated Angie's list discount, but he also gave me a senior citizens discount. I was thrilled. I don't often find a company that I feel really good about, but I do about this one. I definitely will be using this company again!

Can't ask for a better situation. They are excellent. The inspector that came out later to look at it (for code) passed it.

I have a tankless water heater that's not functioning properly. I called Ace, told them what type of water heater I had, explained my problem, specifically asked if they serviced tankless water heaters. They said yes and I scheduled an appointment for 9-10 the next morning. 10:15 rolled around and no-one had shown up, nor had anyone called. So I called them. "I tried to get someone out there who could work on it," they said. "We don't service tankless water heaters very often." They followed up this news by telling me they couldn't do the service at all and that I should call someone else. When I asked why they told me they could do it in the first place and scheduled the appointment, they said, "We have some new girls here. They might not know." Having rescheduled my morning to be home when they got here and waited around for half the morning for nothing, I was too disoriented to ask why no-one called me to tell me they weren't planning to show up. Stuff slips through the cracks. I get it. But really, not even a courtesy call to tell me they weren't coming? Unprofessional.

They did a great job. It was fantastic service. I would use them again in the future.

James Lee came out and on TIME with a crew and did an excellent job. He was professional, honest, diligent and very thorough in doing his job. He explained everything that they needed to do, to replace the main sewer line. I was very pleased with the service I received from Ace Plumbing and Rooter. I will use Ace Plumbing and Rooter for any future plumbing needs and I would recommend to my friends to use Ace Plumbing and Rooter for any plumbing problems.

Booked an appointment for an estimate between 3-4pm today, and came home from work to let them in. After no-one showed, I called them but was told they had no record of me and did not serve my area. Angie's list still says they serve my area, but it appears they do not. Would have appreciated a call before taking the afternoon off work.

Excellent - they picked up the phone on the first ring and within 30 minutes, Umberto was here and fixing my kitchen sink. Awesome and fast service.
