Coco was incredibly rude and condescending. I later heard him referred to as having "the social skills of a wolverine." I also learned that he does not like working with women, so I guess my gender set him off too. His pricing is probably fair as the company we later hired, which was excellent, was in the same price range. It was pointed out to me later how the Ace employee had cut corners when he installed (before he de-installed) the torsion system, so probably the work was sub-par. The incredible house shaking did not happen with the second-excellent-company we later worked with.
Description of Work: A cable had snapped on our old spring-style garage door. My husband called Ace (big ad) to see about replacing the cable. Coco, the owner, came to the house and informed us that our garage door system was completely illegal & that we needed a new torsion system. He wouldn't answer our questions saying that it was new a system or nothing. So we agreed. An employee came out the next day to install the system. The whole house shook incredibly as he worked. When done, he prepared to leave without testing the door. We asked him to test it, which he grumblingly did. There was a terrible noise & he declared that the motor was broken & we now needed a new one. He became irate saying it wasn't his fault;who knows, but we believe the shaking put the motor over the edge. He called Coco who yelled at me accusing us of not wanting to pay (not true!) Coco finally hung up on me & ordered his man to de-install the system. This is when we belatedly consulted Angie's List.

THIS COMPANY DID THE JOB WELL ONCE THEY CAME OUT. I KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AND HOW IT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED, THEY JUST NEEDED TO ORDER THE PARTS AND INSTALL THEM. THEY TOOK THEIR TIME ORDERING THE PARTS, AND IT WAS A MONTH BEFORE THEY CAME OUT TO INSTALL THEM.
