Initially, it went well. Great communication and workmen, each crew specializing in a particular aspect of the project, showed up on time as planned. The job was completed on time, and I was very happy with the work....until I was not. In researching this project and deciding on a company to do the work, I got estimates from four different companies before choosing Del Rey. Because I determined that the pool, which was built in the 1970's and never replastered in the ensuing years, was originally done in black plaster, I decided I wanted a light grey plaster this time around. All of the companies I spoke with charge an upcharge for a color, any color, and none, including Del Rey, suggested that I reconsider this decision for any reason. On the last day of the job itself, when the plaster was to be applied to the now-sandblasted and retiled pool, I was given a waiver to sign indicating that I acknowledged that colored plaster could change color over time. I did sign it, never anticipating that "over time" could mean within 48 hours. By the Monday following the Thursday completion of the job, the plaster had developed black spots all over the bottom of the pool and additionally I made the discovery that Del Rey's tile guy had tiled over the hole where the water fills the pool. Additionally, the start up guy (start up involves special chemical treatment necessary to rebalance the water in a newly-filled pool) had not cleaned the pool filter, which is a standard part of the start up process. Suddenly the company that had been so responsive was not returning my phone calls, and it took me until the end of the week to get someone from the company on the phone and arrange for them to come over to assess the issues and make repairs. The following week the filter was cleaned and, after I figured out through photos on my computer where the fill hole was, the tile guy came back to fix his mistake. He never apologized. The black spots, however, were not repairable, and it was at this point that one of the company reps reminded me of the waiver I had signed. Interestingly enough, in the passing weeks, the black spots began to disappear along with the color itself, so now, two months after the completion of the job, the pool looks as if it's grey with white polka dots. While I did acknowledge that the color could certainly change over time (I've owned my house for 30 years and I saw the changes in the original color of the pool change), I can only conclude that the color in the plaster was not mixed properly, and it's now dissolving. Perhaps by the end of the year there will be no color at all. The only fix would be to once again drain the pool, sandblast and replaster. Not what I signed up for. And never once did Del Rey explain, apologize or offer to rectify the problem in any way.

Description of Work: Pool re-plastered with mini-pebble finish, replaced tile, added auto-fill to water line. The mini-pebble finish is extremely rough and definitely not suitable for children. The coordination of the activities between the concrete deck and patio contractor and Del Rey was haphazard at best. Unable to obtain a rough schedule for the work and what was estimated to be a 2-3 week job took 5 weeks (no weather issues). Would use this contractor again; know to stay in contact with both contractors at the same time rather than relying on Del Rey to administer the work. I was told I could sit back and relax that they would handle everything. Everyone was very professional and each day the work site was left clean and orderly. This was much appreciated.
