I acquired the 3 in-swinging wooden and steel french doors from a third party, and Jim was more than happy to install them for me. Several vendors were not willing to touch the doors as they did not supply the materials. Jim was was available to perform the job on a very tight time line. He was willing to make the necessary adjustments to all 3 door frames to accommodate my very large doors. The job also involved about 15 sq/ft of new stucco which was subcontracted to another crew .The stucco job was well above average and matched the existing stucco perfectly. I was able to "tag along" during parts of the installation and learned a few things about how to install windows and doors. Jim supplied and installed with one Milguard sliding window and I am very pleased with the fit and the finish of this unit. The Installation was very straight forward and the quality of the unit supplied was very high end. The relative ease of this install let me understand why other companies balked at the prospect of installing my gargantuan doors. Being able to complete the job on time, using doors my door and as completing what was promised was a very big thumbs up. The only area for improvement would be to be a little but tidier during the install, but at the same time he was more than willing to take away my own construction waste along with his own. So he more than made up for it. He is a very personable guy who was able to get the job done as agreed.

I used them through Angie's List and it was outstanding. The price was right too. I thought that it was very fair. It was great work. It was only one man.

Gave us an estimate immediately after measuring for windows and doors. Gave a competitive price. Followed through and made sure we got the best deal. Ordered the windows, gave a date for installation and delivered the windows on time. Accommodated our schedule for installation. Completed the installation professionally and quickly. He saved trim, etc. that could be reused so we didn't have additional costs. Made sure the windows operated correctly. Reinstalled blinds where necessary. Left the work area clean. Also delightful to work with.

All jobs went as planned. Jim kept me informed on the status of the order and delivery date. We worked out a mutual install date. The jobs started on time and finished on time. The next three jobs Jim did for me were again for price but then based on the first job, I added because of quality, neatness, professionalism, honesty and overall satisfaction with the company/work. I still have one job to do and will give others a chance to compete, but I doubt I'll need to change from Vinyl View. I couldn't be more satisfied with Jim and Vinyl View and without hesitation, recommend Vinyl View for any job, large or small.

Both installations were accomplished quickly, neatly (especially the caulking) and professionally. I would use Vinyl View again and have recommended the company to other friends who were equally impressed with the estimates and quality of work. Jim is a competent, professional businessman that can be trusted to do the job right, the first time.

James Knapp was very competitive in his bid. Over the past three years I have had several different estimates. He was willing to beat any competitor's price. I was undecided between new construction windows and retrofit windows and eventually decided on retrofit. He was patient and provided ample information through the decision-making process. He is a dealer for Milgard windows and therefore can keep his price competitive. He is personally pleasant and persistent and competent and willing to do whatever is necessary to complete the job to our satisfaction. Any problem areas were immediately corrected or explained to my satisfaction. Through the end of October 2009 Milgard has a $25 per window rebate and with the $1500 federal tax credit the project was a great deal. He did make an $450 error in ordering the windows and brought this to my attention with a request to "do what I could toward it." even though we had signed a contract that he said had not included it. There was no pressure only a request, we are still evaluating what to do about it. I found Vinyl View through an add in the Union Tribune A section, which read $99 installation per window.
