I really like the finished product. TR Construction seemed very eager to make me a happy customer and listened to my concerns. Room for improvement: I wish the estimate would have provided a more detailed description of the work to be performed. This would have potentially prevented an issue that came up 75% of the way through construction, when it was too late to remedy it. However, they provided some extra services for free to make it up to me, and I am satisfied with the resolution. I would just like to state that their exterior painter was really good; he did a great job of matching colors to existing colors on the house, and he had a good sense of what colors would look good when there were options to consider. The project supervisor had a lot of experience, but I am not sure how long he has worked for TR Construction. He could have been friendlier. Overall, I would seriously consider hiring TR Construction again, but I would also talk to other contractors as well.

After verbally agreeing to the $1200 repair, sight unseen by TR Construction, and even though he bailed on the appointment we had set up, I was told a written contract would be emailed to me, and when I signed it and returned it I would be put on their schedule, which was about 3 weeks out. I NEVER received the contract, nor any other email or follow up call from TR Construction. I even contacted them again TWICE and reconfirmed I wanted the repair done and would like to be put on their repair schedule, and confirmed my email address. STILL I heard nothing back. I ended up getting the roof repaired within 24 hours of calling another Angies list roofer, Shake, Shingle and Roll. AND for $300 LESS than I was quoted by TR. I would not waste my time doing business with people like TR Construction. He apparently does not follow through with 'small' jobs and could not care less about telling customers one thing and then doing another.

Tony is a very personable and professional guy. His crew worked on my home for 4 days - they were here every morning at 7 a.m. and worked very hard until 4-5 every afternoon. They were all very respectful and they were very detailed oriented. They went above and beyond to ensure that the work was done properly. They also cleaned up all of their mess and left everything in perfect order! I also noticed that Tony stopped by a few times during the process to communicate with the crew and ensure that they were on task. When everything was complete, Tony scheduled a time with us and came out to speak with us to make sure we were happy with the job. They are terrific! I have several home projects that need to be done/remodeled and I will not hesitate to call Tony and his crew back out here!

We are very happy with them. The workers were very receptive to questions. The company provided an outstanding warranty, and I liked the way they did business They were there when they said they would be there and done when they said they would be done which was important to me.

The work was done timely. I had them back to do some work that I though should've been caught and fixed without me asking, which was also done timely. I think they were a little haphazard with some things, such as how the plastic was laid down on my front steps, which actually caused me to fall.

Consultation: No high pressure sales tactics. No requirement for both the husband and wife to be home. Actually, my wife and i were both at work on the day TR construction arrives to assess our roof. After that, a quote was sent to my email. I asked if we could discuss the quote in person and we set up a day for them to arrive and discuss the job. There was no high pressure sales tactics, person we talked to was genuine and honest. The other companies I interviewed required both the husband and wife be home and they all used the old "If you don't sign tonight, we cannot honor the discounted price you see before you right now" Just a warning to other families out there, if a company requires both the husband and wife be home for the consultation, that's a red flag. That tactic is used to increase the success rate of getting a contract signed that night. ROOFING JOB JOURNAL Day 1: TR Construction arrived 15 minutes early to start the removal of the roof. I introduced myself to the person whom I assumed was in charge before leaving to work. He explained to me all the work his team was doing for the day. I apologized to him for not being able to move my stuff away from the edges of the roof below and his team removed those items for me. Items included BBQ grill, chairs, canopy, Hamock, etc... I came back home from work and all the asphalt tiles from the roof were removed and they covered the whole roofing area with tarp. Day 2: TR Construction arrived in the morning and started installation of the asphalt shingles and drip edge. When I arrived back from work, the roof looked amazing. The shingles were the correct color and the drip edge installed was brown instead of white. Luckily for us, the brown drip edge turned out to be the better color that the one we chose. The heavy rain in San Diego the past few weeks has put our roof to the test and it holds up as expected from a properly installed roof. Day 3: TR Construction came to pick up any tools they left behind. They also placed my BBQ grill, hamock, canopy, etc.. back to where they were before they started the job. There was barely anything for them to clean up because they did a good job cleaning up at the end of each day. A final inspection was performed on top of the roof and around the house perimeter. Conclusion: TR Construction performed an excellent job while still keeping clean. The past 2 weeks was a true test to how great the installation was because it has rained so hard since they installed a new roof. My wife and I are very happy with the roofing job. An appointment has been set up for some remodeling work on our master bedroom. The water that leaked through the roof before the roof installation has caused damage to the ceiling in our master bedroom so they are coming back to perform some work to repair that. I have other future projects for this house that I am looking forward to have TR Construction perform.

I highly recommend TR Construction. We are very happy with the look and color of the stucco. They did a beautiful job. We have gotten many compliments on the stucco work--in particular, from the window installer who has worked at many homes over his 50 year career! We were impressed with everyone we dealt with?Tony the owner, Teresa and Linda in the office, and Cramer who is a master at door installation and all the carpentry that was required. The entire staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful about all aspects of the project. TR Construction is a very well-run company. They communicated on a regular basis throughout the project so everyone was on the same page. They pay attention to detail and their workmanship is outstanding. Everything was always cleaned up nicely after their jobs were complete. We are glad we hired TR Construction and will definitely give them a call when we are ready for future projects!

The owner, Toni, came out (7/25/2014) and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse and he didn't prolong the visit--less than 30 minutes. I also met Mike (crew manager) and Teresa at their office to sign the contract and make color selections for shingles and drip edge. I was originally told the installation would be 2 weeks away but Mike said the upcoming Wednesday was available Demolition crew arrived at 7am and was done by 1pm, 7/30/2014. They protected my wife's garden with supported tarpauline. Installation crew arrives and materials are safely delivered via conveyor belt. They wrapped up at 1 pm on 8/1/2014. Seamless rain gutters were installed the following Monday by Steve Barkley of the Gutter Connection--very professionally done and the color matches the house colors. All crews were "strokers"--I didn't see any "slackers"--impressive! Upon completion I was given a 10 year warranty on labor and lifetime manufacture's warranty. This company has earned my trust and I will utilize for future home improvements.

They removed the old sky light and replaced it with a new one. Their installation was professionally done to my satisfaction.

They did a very good job. There was a water leak & kitchen door that need fixed, they were out right away to fix it.

Cleaned up after themselves and moved next door to do the neighbor's house. Great company.

The roofing was really good. They could have done a better job cleaning up. They left some wood in my yard which caused some dead spots.

They're my go-to company for roofing. I've also recommended them to clients and they did my mother's home. The price they quoted to me was exactly that. Tony, the owner is a really nice guy and the office is easy to schedule with too. The timeframe between scheduling the estimate and having the estimator come out is very short. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

They did a good job. The only issue that I have is that they knocked through the ceiling and they didn't fix it. They also knocked a few nails through the roof. Otherwise it was fine.

It was okay. I feel like the overcharged me for the repair. They also left a lot of junk (i.e. nails) on the roof. The roof is fine though, and the price was reasonable. I feel like TR Construction left out a few key details too. I did recommend them to other people. They did exactly what they were supposed to do with the repair - nothing more, nothing less.

They were very clean - never left a mess. The roof has held up just fine. They gave us a warranty with the roof too.

Work was completed without a problem.

TR Construction did an outstanding job on my roof. From my first contact with them I could tell that I made the right choice selecting them for my roof restoration. Tony's assessment of the condition of my roof was accurate, as was his recommendations for the work that would have to be done. His crew, Mike and Mike, did the entire job in 5 days. They know their craft and they were highly professional. I have high workmanship standards and I can say that the standards they had for their work met or exceeded my own. I highly recommend TR Construction for any type of roofing work.

I had them come out to inspect a roof on a home I was planning to buy. The real estate agents involved did not like his response, that the roof was beyond repair and required replacement in excess of $11,500. So on the request of the agents, I had my agent's roofing person come in the next day and inspect. His results were almost verbatim the same as TR Construction. Seller agent said roofers are hungry. I ignored that comment, having two licensed roofers give me identical evaluations for the same roof. TR was a little less than the other roofer. The deal died as a result of owner not willing to pay for roof replacement. Careful when buying a blue home with pool and step that has the words "Watch Your Step" tiled into it in Clairemont East. It might be the same house my purchase agreement failed on after spending almost $2000 on inspections only to find out they already knew the roof was a problem two months before I saw the home.

It was a fair price because I had a previous estimate which was much higher and the other outfit didn’t do as nearly thorough a job. They did what I wanted them to do. Almost everything worked out perfectly. I had a comment about one or two fascia boards that should have been painted. They had replaced them. I thought that it was strange that they put raw wood without paint on them. So they came out and did that with no further charge. I don’t know if they were in a hurry or it did not occur to them about having some primer up there at least. It would have been a nice thing to do, but they took care of it and I had no problems. Actually, I don’t have to say anything that is genuinely negative.

Used someone else, but will use TR in the future.

Our experience with TR Construction was perfect. Their price was not too good, but they did a good job.

I liked their attention to detail. They were very, very prompt and they did exactly what they said they would do. I would definitely use them again.

Because I had a skylight, I asked for an engineering report to see if the structure would sag. The roof was put on before the engineer evaluated whether the skylight needed to be beefed up. The roof now sags badly around the skylight. TR said they would fix it for another 3500 dollars. They also put holes in the stucco which I had to plug up, and they strewed broken tiles in my bushes as well as left many nails in the lawn for my dog to discover. The roof inspector never looked at the back of the house and hence signed off on the work.
