Tough Turtle Turf

We are second time customers and the first time the job was perfect. We came back to Tough Turtle Turf the second time as well after we decided what to do and finish the project. We had some hiccups with some initial measurements, but the company went to bat for us. Appreciated Customer Service Representative Bailey who was nothing short of an excellent professional every step and top management who made things smoother and made everything right, as well as CJ the boots on the ground, who was amazing and very professional and courteous. Would use them again on future projects like this we may have and can highly recommend their expertise in turf installation as well as landscaping. Our fire pit area turned out beautiful.

If Turtle Turf tells you during your initial consult that the designer/salesperson, Mike, and the production manager, David, will be onsite throughout your installation don't believe them. Neither showed to our installation. Turtle Turf's crews are not employees but are subcontractors so should require some oversight. When I asked the production manager, David, why he wasn't at our home for the installation, he replied "it's a simple straightforward project" and he didn't need to be there. Well this "simple project" has become a major problem. Some base material didn't arrive on time in the morning so the crew decided to nap for 1-1/2 hours on our property. An organized project manager would've ensured it arrived early. Additionally, the crew stored tools on the top of our brand new AC unit. In the afternoon, even with all material on site, the crew took another hour-long break/nap. This time on the newly installed turf pushing down the blades. After completion, the turf had many wrinkles, was uneven, and had very ugly, visible seams. Turf was also not nailed down on some edges. Even after requesting a new production manager, David decided to show at our home to briefly look at the turf. Again he did not stay to oversee/supervise the repair which still hasn't corrected the visible seams. The abovementioned issues should be of major concern along with the several others with similiar negative feedback posted online.

Crew was punctual and went over the project in detail. Made sure that our ideas were the same. Always cleaned up after themselves at the end of workday. Left the site in great condition. We've just had the new turf for a few days and it looks great! Initial consultant had come out to give a quote and we haggled over the price a bit. Operations manager then came the next day to confirm the amount of turf to be replaced. Great communication throughout the process.

Service was perfect. They were informative, responsive, punctual, and professional. Not to mention the turf is beautiful and holding up perfectly with an active dog.

It was an amazing experience with Tough Turtle Turf from first contact to today, weeks after they completely redid our front and back yards. We did our research here on Angie's List and also on review sites like Google and Yelp to narrow down the six companies to get bids from. They were the highest rated businesses in the turf industry including Artificial Grass Liquidators, Install-It-Direct, SynLawn, Easy Turf and Omega Turf. Tough Turtle Turf responded fastest and best to our initial inquiry and their customer service in the exploration phase was leagues beyond the competitors. We then had Mike Reiser come out and spend hours on three occasions with us to understand our needs and work with us to design our dream yards. Four of the others came out with a very standard pitch and tried to hard sell us on the spot for what turned out to be much higher prices with inferior product, installation and warranties. Easy Turf did come out a second time but then lost interest when we would not sign a contract. Also, their turf was much weaker than the other companies. Mike from Tough Turtle Turf then gave us a great price and even told us about the Angie's List $500 OFF coupon we did not even know about and he honored. A week after finalizing the design and after their wonderful Production Manager Greg Zamora measured every inch of our yard for over an hour to order the materials, their in-house installer crew led by Tito came out. They were hands down the best contractors we have ever seen. Punctual, clean, courteous and very hard working. The result is nothing short of amazing. Our house gleams from the street with their beautiful and incredibly natural looking Super Natural turf. They did river rocks to give it a nice shape and clean borders to our natural landscape. We literally had dozens of neighbors stop by, some of who we had never even met, to compliment us and ask us who did the work. The Super Natural turf is virtually indistinguishable from regular grass but without the need for expensive water and maintenance. In the back yard Tito and crew created a little paradise with a small retaining wall, lots of Cool Blades turf which stays very cool and beautiful pavers. We won our yard back and use it every day. The kids love to play on it, it works great with the dogs and it is always ready and beautiful for family and friends. We entertain and spend more time outside than we ever have, it literally changed our lives. Do yourselves a favor and call them today!

I hired Tough Turtle to replace my front and back yards with turf and to replace the patches of grass by the curb with river rock and the addition of concrete in the front yard, as well as a curb in the back yard. I'm extremely pleased with both the installation process and the results. The crew (Steve, Dennis, Kevin and Victor) did a outstanding job with removal and installation, I would highly recommend this crew to do any landscaping working.
