Terra Bella Nursery Inc

DISASTER: I wanted to give a small local company business and thought I would give Terra Bella Nursery, Inc. a try. I checked out their website where they provide photos of their various mulch products. I spoke with two different individuals, giving them a description of what I was looking for. I ended up deciding on "Premium Decorative Woodchip". I also paid for delivery. I was horrified when the mulch was delivered to discover that "premium" meant anything but. Terra Bella Nursery delivered 4 yards of shredded garbage. The so called mulch was filled with chunks of "pressure treated lumber" which is toxic, pieces of particle board, pieces of melamine covered furniture and painted wood. I called and spoke to a supervisor who said he would check on it and call me back. I never received a call back so I sent my boyfriend down to Terra Bella. The supervisor said they would never deliver that even though he was looking a a grocery sack full of the above mentioned filler that came out of my delivered pile. He said "premium wood chip" is chipped lumber. Clean unpainted untreated lumber not particle board and melamine would have been fine.Trying to be reasonable I agreed to buy a more expensive product understanding that mistakes can be made and understanding that I would paying the difference between the cost of the two materials and not paying another delivery charge as this was their mistake. He talked to his crew who disputed the evidence that was presented and the supervisor said he had to take their word. When invited to drive over and check for himself he declined. Long story short they did re-deliver the more expensive product which was acceptable but proceeded to charge me the full cost ($189.60) plus a new delivery charge and only credited me $51.70 of the initial $107.66. In addition they refused to pick up the "garbage" pile which resulted in more money to pay someone to remove it. No one wants mulch contaminated with pressure treated lumber, particle board glue and melamine to be around their children and pets. What a disappointment. Back to Walter Andersen for me.
