South Coast Door & Gates

Our gargage door came off it's tracks and torqued in the process. We we were unable to close our garage door so we needed to have it repaired immediately. We called South Coast Door from an Angies list. They were very responsive and came out the next day. After assessing the gargage door opener, they told my husband that we needed to replace the whole thing for a little over $500. I wasn't home, so he went ahead and had them do the work. He said they were professional, and courteous, and seemed to know what they were doing. Our gargage door opener wasn't very old and if I had been home, I would have asked more questions about repairing the tracks, as opposed to replacing the whole thing, but we couldn't wait to get alot of estimates since the door would not close. I hope that it was necessary to replace the whole thing rather than just adjusting the tracks, and replacing parts, because $500 is alot to spend.

I was a bit nervous about this purchase since a door-to-door salesperson convinced us to replace our door. In this case, I did not check Angie's list. After agreeing to the install, I could not find the company on Angie's List nor on Yelp. I checked the BBB site and did not see any complaints for the company. The salesperson, Lynn, was very accessible, however. I called her twice after the initial meeting. First to change the color of the door we had ordered and then second, to request that we also have windows intalled in the door. The website is most informative. I was able to easily upload a digital picture of my house and then play around with options to see what works best. The installers were suppose to arrive between 9:00 and 11:00 but did not show up until around noon and did not call to say they would be late. They also did not pick up all of the bolts, nails, etc. from the old door some left in the garage and on the lawn. Additionally, they left a small oil spot on my driveway, but the installer did explain that it was from taking down the old door opener. For that reason, I am giving them a B on professionalism. However, Lynn deserves an A in this area. But, after the installation was complete -- only about an hour, the garage door is beautiful, is very quite and everything appears to be working as promised. Since it has only been a couple of days, I will update if any issues are found. All in all, I am very pleased with the new door just not sure if the 1500.00 price tag was a good deal or not. As a note, the regular installer was out sick the day they installed so that may have accounted for the slight issues with the installers not totally cleaning up. In my case, this was not a big deal.
