So far I have been very pleased with their work. They are very consciousness about their cleanliness. They have been on time, keep us in the loop, and are very professional. The foreman is amazing as well; he's very professional, nice, and willing to do extra.

Chose this company after they were the 3rd quote we received. I was apprehensive after the first two. They understood my apprehensiveness and were very polite and professional about it. They were on time and extremely accommodating. The designers took all the right measurements and then the crew members came my bathroom was turned into an actual functioning bathroom! They were very clean and contentious of my home and even my neighbors. I was very happy with the experience.

They operate in violation of federal law - stay away. They are cold calling customers to drum up business. I am on the national do not call registry, but that doesn't stop them from calling and trying to get business. I called back to confirm it was actually them that had called me - they said it was. If they don't care about following the law in who they can and can't call, do you really expect them to act with any more regard for doing things the right way if you give them your business? Find a reputable contractor - and stay away from these clowns.

It was absolutely terrible. I have a brain injury and I told him this at the beginning of the call. I started to explain what I need about getting my bathroom redone and I could already tell he wasn't listening. He kept talking to others in the background and told somebody else to get food, and when I said excuse me, He decided to say that HE had a Brain injury which was basically him just poking fun at me. I tried over and over to get in contact with a supervisor and they kept telling me I had already talked to one. This company is terrible. They are unprofessional and discriminated against me due to a brain injury. They were laughing at me on the phone and they thought it was a joke. Very rude and Very disrespectful.
Description of Work: I called them up and the conversation was absolutely terrible. What happened was I called the number for the company and the gentleman on the phone answered and said the name on the caller ID. This was the people who had the number before me. He came off very very rude. I tried to explain the situation that I was having and the conversation just took a turn.

Description of Work: They renovated two bathrooms. I should have not signed a contract for the second one and waited until the first one was complete. The salesman was very charismatic and I was still in mourning over my mother's death 2 1/2 months before; so was vulnerable. We are basically satisfied with the results but the whole process could have been much better. When I was going to Angie's List to check out contractors, this company jumped onto my screen (my son said this was a rather fraudulent tactic done online). I thought I was on Angie's List and entered my phone number and about a hour later I got a phone call from and was not assertive enough to check out other contractors before signing with them. We had a Safe Step walk-in tub ordered before we even signed a contract with them and the salesman criticized our purchase and then said they could install it faster since they essentially "could get their money sooner" -we paid as each step was completed. Each step of the way, we had issues and had to call them to have someone come in and finish the job. A niche in the wall with two shelves was not in alignment; one shelf was wider at one end then the other. They had to redo it. A custom medicine cabinet took several calls to get it right. They did not paint the wall behind the medicine cabinet.; I did it. There was no beading around the edge so you could see the separation of the dry wall and the cabinet. Finally the got the outside looking decent but they never put in any shelves. We fired their tile person since he did not do a good job of grouting and was also caught going through the tool bag of an air conditioning installer. The cabinets for the second bathroom were built the same time as the first but ended up being too deep. When the man came to do this work, he didn't seem to know what he was supposed to do and didn't have the correct tools. The project supervisor was not there. Bottom line; no one communicated well. After the cabinet and counter were installed the counter jutted out 1 1/2 inches into the shower door space. Rather than take everything out, the shower glass door person was able to grind out a space in the door to clear the counter. When a fold down bench was installed, the supervisor supposedly measured where reinforcement wood should be placed. but after the shower was tiled, it turned out that there was sufficient reinforcement and we had to empty out kitchen storage closet next to the bathroom and the wall had to be cut through to get in to place reinforcement which was a horrible mess. I should rate them lower, but we do like our bathrooms (other than the things that were not done correctly); but I was the one who purchased the bathtub, shower accessories, faucets, grab bars, sinks, toilets, and the paint without their input. I collaborated with the salesman about the tiles, cabinets and counters. At the end, when filling out the survey as to their work, I was not completely truthful for a variety of reasons. But at that point, I just wanted them out of my house. Also, even though the contract stated we were responsible for paying for the permits; we were not told what the cost would be. One last thing, before we started on the second bathroom, I had read the Angie's List reviews of the company and they were right on. I told the salesman and he said that the Angie's List makes these reviews up. I don't think so.

I thought that they were good. They were an all inclusive service, they had a plumber, an electrician and a finisher of cabinets. They all worked at the house and the work is exceptional. Its the best feature in our house now. They were a little more expensive than the others but they did the job.

THE GOOD: The 8" crown molding is beautiful. We love the look. Most of their employees were good, professional, personable. (It was, however, a revolving door of faces; the crew changed frequently. And they weren't here every day.) THE BAD: The job was estimated at 1-2 weeks; they were here a month. When it came to finishing seams, the job dragged on and on and on. (Finishing involves caulking and painting corners and seams on long walls where two pieces of molding are pieced together.) Their finisher was sloppy, dripped paint all over, and did very poor work. Even after I asked the finisher (and the supervisor) to use a drop cloth or otherwise protect my home, I saw paint drips every day. Each night I would go around after him to clean up paint and cut drips out of the carpet. Multiple days I needed to move the finisher?s wet, sweating lunch cup off one piece of furniture or another in order not to have water rings. The worst part was that the seams looked really, really bad - bumpy and uneven caulking which had been painted over. The first attempt at seam finishing was laughable, with patching material left so rough, when it was painted over the seams were super obvious. My husband and I needed to complain seam-by-seam to get them to work the seams to our satisfaction. So they would sand them down and try again. And again. For a few days they sent a guy with really good skills to work seams, and things looked up, but he suddenly disappeared, and the really bad finisher just kept on botching and botching... One of the last days ?on the job? the finisher slept half the day in my front yard. We eventually just asked them to leave us be - we were tired of the mess, the drips, and not seeing improvement on seams. We just wanted our house back. Notable: We have a sort of rotunda at the entrance of our master bedroom, and bendable molding was used. The bendable molding was patched so that there is about a six inch section inserted. Because of the stiffness of the rubbery, bendable material, the six inch patch does not arc similar to the rest of the round. Instead it looks like a straight patch. The result is that there are two obvious seams on either side of the patch. I pointed this out to Danny, and he said that was the best that could be done. I assert that if the molding had been cut properly, it would not have been patched, and the seams not so obvious. The particular placement of the ?double seam? ? directly opposite the entrance ? puts it in the most obvious place. I was not happy with the result here; but can live with it. We have since installed a different light fixture, and the error is not so obvious. THE UGLY: About six months after they finished the original job, the corners and seams began to pop open. (Danny said this might happen, not to be alarmed, just call the office to have them come back.) So I called in, and asked the office not to send the same nightmare finisher. No problem, they said. Clearly they did not send their A-team to address the cracks. The two guys started complaining almost immediately about how little they were being paid to fix the problems. Not a good sign. They were here one day. The corners look ok (easy to patch), but the seams along the big walls look really bad. It looks like they caulked, and then painted with a dry brush before the caulking was dry and dragged the caulking into the wet paint and across the molding. So now the (1/4 to 1/2 inch) cracks look like cottage cheese was used to fill them. The goopy bumpiness is several inches wide in some places. Did I mention their contractor chewed me out for "involving the office" when I answered honestly how things went? Wow, not cool. BOTTOM LINE: Crown molding is for looks ? it needs to look smooth in appearance with a consistent semi-gloss finish. Not goopy and bumpy at the seams. Unfortunately, SoCal Home Remodeling struck out. Bottom line is that I gave up and will get the seams fixed with another contractor. And leave this review on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Summer 2014 SoCal Home Remodeling painted, installed and finished 8" crown molding throughout my large, 4 bedroom, 2-story home. Danny Almog sold us the work and oversaw the original installation. He was fairly high pressure, but a charming guy. A team came back in March 2015 to address several seams and corners that had pulled apart since the original installation.

Description of Work: Arrived for consultation on time. It went ok. My concern was they were very pushy and aggressive to get the contract signed and under agreement right then and there at the consult. They did provide an estimate which I found to be high with respect to the same services offered by other Angie's list providers. I hired a different contractor.

I needed a master bathroom remodel and was leery of doing it myself as I was going to need plumbing re routed. I got a quote from SoCal remodeling and got an excellent price. They would do all the installation and I would pay for the materials. You have to take the deal immediately or the price goes up by a third I you want to think about it. I was worried about dealing with a contractor because I've had problems before but they said that you pay a bit at a time as they hit their completion marks so I felt that was fair for everyone involved. I wish I had done a bit more research. They hire unskilled labor to do their work and the guys get paid by the job so it's in their best interest to to as many as possible. It's a good thing I was home the entire time because you have to keep your eye on them all the time to make sure everything is done up to spec. The tile work was average at best. There were holes in the grout, you could see thin set in the grout lines because they used too much. The tile installer even installed a cracked tile right a chest height (they did fix that when I pointed it out). They did not understand how to install our tub even though there was a video of how to do it on the companies web site and had to cut the brand new tile under our freestanding tub because they couldn't figure out how to put the drain in. Admittedly, you don't see it under the tub but if I ever want to install a claw foot tub I won't be able to. They also left the water supply pipes too long and the whole tub is shifted forward on its skirt. They said it would take 2-3wks tops to get to completion, 7 weeks later it was finally finished. I have chipped out the thinset and regrouted the shower. I will also be fixing the tile under the tub and the water supply lines. They offered to send a guy out to start fixing my issues with their workmanship. I took that afternoon off to meet him, 3 hours later they said he wasn't showing up because the supervisor and salesman wanted to come see my complaints a couple of days later. Well, the supervisor was the one that installed the tub wrong in the first place and I had pointed out the excessive thin set to him at least 3x. After 7 weeks I just wanted them gone. Their work is good from afar but if you take a closer look, the attention to detail is severely lacking. The price was great but you get what you pay for. Thoroughly average job, and that's only because I watched them like a hawk.

This is a large company that is branching out to Orange County from Los Angeles. I requested an estimate to remodel one bathroom and the project manager offered me a fantastic price if I would remodel two bathrooms at same time. The plan was for me to purchase all the material and fixtures, and they would install it. I had everything ready and waiting for them to install including the amount of tile they told me to buy. They promised to complete the work in two weeks, it took eight and a half weeks to finish it not including the painting which I did myself. They started on time and were there everyday for the first two weeks making progress. Then they stopped showing up on time. Sometimes one worker was here, sometimes no one showed up. The crew spoke only Spanish and the foreman was the translator. The problem was that the foreman was never there. I saw him three times in eight and a half weeks. As a result the crew was constantly doing the work wrong then tearing it out wasting time and materials. One worker put in a very expensive mosaic backwards twice before I finally reached the project manager who offered to pay to tear out all the tile and replace it. That was great but took another two weeks. The quality of the tile installation is very poor. I can see holes in the thin set behind the glass tile. Tiles and grout lines are uneven. I waited for them to reorder tile twice. They were very sloppy. They cut tile inside of the house. There was plaster dust everywhere. By the time they were finished I didn't care about the quality of the work, I just wanted them out of my house. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a contractor. The price was great, and they did finally complete the project. Don't forget what your mother told you, "You get what you pay for."

Very pleased with SoCal home remodeling. Owning a couple of rental properties, I am often in need of construction companies for various projects. I have contracted SoCal in order to perform a full bathroom and kitchen remodeling on an older (seventies) build. The bidding phase went perfectly fine and, refreshingly, I wasn't pushed into signing, and the price was perfectly okay. I strongly believe in NOT choosing the cheapest fly by night contractors anyways so I was ready to sign. After selecting my choices of tiles, wood, paint and cabinets, the project was started. Workers were somewhat punctual and respectful to the property. Other than few minor corrections (i.e. one of the cabinet doors wasn't shutting properly and one kitchen tile was nicked) I was very pleased with how this project went as well as with the final product. Not having to deal with damaged piping and wiring (happens more than you would think when remodeling a kitchen) was a big plus. Cleanup was fast and somewhat thorough. All in all, a job well done.

My experience with SoCal Home Remodeling has been every homeowner's worst nightmare. I hired them in May to remodel two bathrooms. The job was sold to me by Shiko Keren, who although they call him a Project Manager, is really just a Salesperson. The work began on June 16 and unfortunately, today September 16, I am still dealing with the aftermath of the work they did. One of the bathrooms was a small bathroom, and although we encountered problems, most of the problems in there are fixable. In the master bathroom, short of a complete demolish and start over, there were many major mistakes made that I will have to live with. Many changes were made to the work specified without my knowledge and/or consent. The tile and grout work is definitely substandard. The only "new" materials used were what I provided. They installed used, old materials throughout both bathrooms. SoCal Remodeling hires unskilled laborers to do all the work from start to finish, including plumbing and electrical work, without any real supervision. The laborers were making decisions about how and where to install jet tub, where to install access panel for jet tub, selecting and purchasing shower door, where to install vanity, etc. etc. They do very shoddy work and unfortunately, in most cases did not use very good judgment. To the owner's credit, once I brought the problems to his attention, he did attempt to fix what was fixable, but they continually sent the same type of worker, who came in, did more shoddy work, fixed some stuff, while creating other problems, causing more delay and more stress. Because of all the mistakes they continually made by cutting holes in the wrong places, placing the plumbing in wrong places, etc., they completely trashed my walls. I could go on and on with all the damage they have done. I recently asked them to stop the work, as I did not see any happy end in sight. The owner was not happy about that and although they have clearly performed substandard work, he wants me to pay him for work they have not performed. He has said that they have lost money on this job. This is not through any fault of my own and I believe I have lost much more than they have. I have had to hire new people to come in and finish the work. Needless to say, I would not recommend this company for any job whatsoever.

A small job but a well done one. I contracted SoCal for a interior paint job for my 2br 2ba. Everything went smoothly. I was presented with a LOT of color swatches so picking the color scheme was fun. The price was fair and the crew was on time. They left no mess whatsoever which is a huge plus in my book. Overall, a very stress-free, positive experience.

It was a horror. They did not cover anything.
Description of Work: The story from beginning to end. This was a bathroom remodel done by So Cal Home Remodeling. Started June 4th. I originally contracted with Guy Cohen for $7500. I wanted acrylic for the shower. When we went in to Home Depot he decided that I should have tile. He picked the tile. I really did not understand what was going on. Originally we had decided that I would keep my shower door, toilet, and vanity. I wanted the brown tile taken off the vanity and replaced with granite. I really did not understand that I was to pay SoCal $6500 for essentially nothing and then had to pay everything out of pocket. Then Edgar started demolishing the bathroom. It was horrible. There was fine grit all over everything in our bedroom. They did not cover anything. I had to keep putting dropcloths on the carpets. Permits had to be pulled and the inspectors could not come for days. When they came they said we had to have another electrical plug because we had two sinks. And an exhaust fan even though we had a window in the bathroom. It cost $450 to do the electrical work. I had to keep running back and forth to Home Depot and Lowe's to get a shower door, a toilet, lights, a mirror, etc. I don't know how it was decided that I had to have a new vanity... but it was $980. They had to build a wall because the shower was 4x8 feet and a normal shower door would not fit. They built a bench because the shower was so big. That cost $800. Edgar had to go to Home Depot to get more tile and decorative border strips. I came home from a funeral and he informed me that I had to go to Home Depot because he had left the border strips in the cart at Home Depot. I went down there and started looking in the carts for the border strips. The Home Depot people said they did not find any border strips in any of the carts. I was looking out over the carts. I did not see the cement car stop as I was walking...fell over it and landed on my face. It happened so fast. I cut my right hand...my right shoulder and my knee. All because Edgar left the border strips in the cart! I was so upset with all of this. I felt like a victim. Edgar broke the knob off my box fan that he was using and was annoyed that I even brought it to his attention. He had to retile the floor because he could not get the tile to butt up to the shower. This cost $360. When the mirror was hung it was so high I could only see half my face. It had to be rehung. Edgar was in a hurry to finish up. He spackled parts of the wall and immediately painted over them. You can't do this... the spackle has to dry and be sanded. Anyway the walls looked a mess. By this time I was discouraged and fed up with dealing with Edgar and said I would finish the painting myself. This was now June 24th. Would I ever recommend this company? Never! I am surprised and disappointed that they are on Angie's List! Would I ever trust Angie's List again? Never! Edgar did other annoying things like throwing my towel racks away because he did not want to hang them. He threw wallboard up on my sunshade outside of the bedroom door because he did not feel like hauling it away. I have had a lot of things done to my house but I never had difficulty like this. This remodel cost me over $11,000- a far cry from the original $7500 estimate!

Called them up for an in-home consultation and setup an appointment time, but they did not show up. After waiting about 30 min, when I called them up, first they said there was no appointment at all in their system. Then another person calls me and tells me that the designer met with an accident and that they will have to reschedule for a later time, which they will call me the following week. But they never called me again. These 2 things bothered me the most - 1) assuming that they told me the truth about the designer meeting with an accident, why did they not call me ahead of time about it, and lets say they were about to, why did they say that they don't even have an appointment when I called them? 2) If they were serious about my business, why did they never bother to call me back? Total unprofessional behavior.
Description of Work: Did not show up for the in-home consultation for a kitchen refacing, even after setting up an appointment with them.
