Dave is great! A real plumber, like from the old days, not the wanna be ones that work for Bill Howe. He's smart and I trust him. He's willing to do enough to get things working and will tell you that it could be perfect with more work but won't con you into it. It's $95 just for him to show up so make sure a plumber is what you need. I ran through my needs with him by phone first. There are some things he doesn't do. He put in a water heater for us previously and we are very happy with it. He knows what he is doing.
Description of Work: Replaced the corroded in place & leaking spigots to the washer, install correct parts in 2 dysfunctional toilets, clear 3 drains, replace the P-trap on one drain in a 1929 house.

I chose Shelton Plumbing because it had all A's as a rating, so I figured they would be able to find the leak in the garageunder the 2BR apt. and fix it. The plumber (Dave) came on time, but had a lot of difficulty accessing the problem. Initially he said it was the washing machine, but after testing it out, it didn't leak, just a few drops from the hose line. He said it could be that. "But," I objected," those are just a few drops," and we had water covering about 6 ft by 6 ft and also signs that the leak ran along the wall heading toward the door which was 18 ft. away. Then he checked the upstairs bathroom, which my tenants said caused the problem whenever they showered. He said it could be the tub drain which was clogged with hair and left an inch of water in the tub when testing the shower. That didn't make much sense,so I said it had to be something else. Then I mopped up all the water on the garage floor and he looked to see where more was coming from. I saw some starting to pool behind the washing machine. He said it was the washer again, but I said "no," because it wasn't on. So he looked at the wall and saw that some water was coming from baseboard of the wall. Then he looked at the wall, but couldn't find any wet spot. I suggested we look outside. When we did, I saw and felt wet spots on the bottom of outside wall, but he just said, "Oh, that's just the weather. It was there already." Then he went inside to look some more.He felt the inside wall and said it may be damp, but he didn't want to start punching holes in the wall. (The most insightful statement he made all day). Then he finally recommended a leak detector company. When he charged me $85, I said that was a bit high as he didn't find the leak nor fix it. He said he had to pay for his license and his equipment and his truck, and he had been in the business for 30 years so he knew what he was talking about(which I felt was a gross over-exaggeration).Then I asked if he gave a discount to Angie's List customers or Senior Citizens, he said he did neither. He owned an established company and he didn't need to. Although he got a few customers from Angie's List, he never initiated the posting, a friend did,so he didn't feel the need to pay any of Angie's costs. He did this with a lot of posturing and what I felt was an unwarranted abundance of self-importance. Angie, honestly, this is the second or third time I have encountered a dud through your listing. I really am getting fed up with the poor quality of highly rated repairmen who are online. It costs me time and money to deal with these guys, and I might as well just use the yellow pages because your recommendations are off the mark. The only good thing that came out of this was that the leak detector company he recommended found the leak immediately(which cost $225). Then I had to find another plumber to fix it because I wasn't using Shelton anymore.I found Andrew who works for Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. , a large plumbing company in San Diego, which I found in theYellow Pages. He did an excellent job and was very professional. That cost me $135. In retrospect, I should have contactedthem first and saved at least $85 if not more.
Description of Work: I had a water leak in the garage of a duplex. No work was done, the plumber couldn't even identify the source of the problem. "Very unsatisfied" doesn't even begin to describe this experience.

I spent $95 on that service. He has literally kept 3 houses plumbed for me. He is always on time and always does extraordinarily good quality work. He is reasonably priced and does good business.
Description of Work: I have been using Shelton Plumbing for a long time. The last time I used them was last week to fix a leaky faucet in the shower.

I spent about $125 on that work. I have used them for literally decades and their service is awesome. David Shelton runs the company and he took over from his dad. He does very good quality work and he is very skilled. He is very familiar with the neighborhood and the older craftsman homes in my neighborhood. He is gets here when he says he is going to and is all about quality and doing the job right, even if it costs a little more. We have been working together for long enough that when he comes over he usually does not bring a worker because I help him. I can’t imagine anyone else doing my plumbing.
Description of Work: I used Shelton Plumbing about 2 months ago and they replaced the main inlet valve to the house and added an outside water faucet.

In short, Dave knows about everything there is to know about plumbing. I have used Shelton Plumbing for a couple of decades at least three different houses for everything from clogged drains to complete re-piping. Dave and his dad have always done top-quality work for a fair price and I have have recommended them to friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Replaced main shutoff valve, relocated outside faucet bib and added tee for sprinkler hookup.
