Although the estimate was comparable to others and Mike seemed nice, we did not have them do the work becasue they wanted 50% payment "upon start of work" (and 50% upon completion). Ours was a big job (estimate ~$18,000.00), so that would have been ~$9,000.00 before any work was completed. That might not be technically illegal, but it is certainly in the grey area and made us uncomfortable. (In CA the law is $1000 or 10% up front, whichever is less, for work like this.) We went with a company that asked only for $1000 at the start, and they didn't even cash that check until the work was completed. We do understand that companies like this need to purchase materials, but we prefer to contract with companies that have good enough credit to purchase materials w/o asking for large sums of money from customers before any work is done. Asking for 50% up front just raised a red flag for us.

The owner, Mike, is a pleasure to work with. Considerate, attentive, very fair pricing. All great from the original visit for estimating to a revisit before job ordered due to time lapse, to a fabulous Crew and Lead,. It was a much bigger job than anticipated but the change order was only on materials. I would highly recommend Sequoia over any other!

They were very professional. They did everything they say they would. The pricing was good and they were responsive. They left some stuff after the job was done, but once I called they came back right away and cleaned everything up.

From the start, Mike was the most professional and knowledgable of the roofers I contacted for an estimate. He actually wasn't the cheapest, but that is because he uses higher quality materials and has a very experienced crew. In my opinion, the price difference was small and well-justified. I actually went to Home Depot to look at the different types of roofing felt and see their price differences, and the products Mike chose to use do cost a little more, but seem better. I was happy to pay a small premium to have a well-built roof that I won't have to worry about for decades. If you're looking for roofers, I highly recommend you use Sequoia for two reasons. First, their actual work was excellent. They pay attention to the important details that make the difference between a decent and excellent roof job. Second, they take customer service pretty seriously. My particular roof job was complicated by the fact that I was trying to coordinate other house projects at the same time, and they were very accommodating. They even helped me with the other projects that had nothing to do with the roof. I'll admit to being very nit-picky, but Juan and his guys were always willing to accommodate me. In addition, the job took place during a very hot week, and these guys worked their butts off. I'm very happy with the result, and would definitely hire them again.

Mike Rockholz showed up for the estimate appointment early. He sent me the estimate when he said he would. His work team showed up on time and worked very hard. A subsequent third roof was found which caused a delay in getting it off. So instead of two days, it took three. With the roof off, the weather forcast called for a summer rain storm. Mike drove about 45 minutes down at night and put tarps over the house to insure no damage to the inside of the house. When the wood rot was discovered, I was given choices as to how to best fix them. The clean up went very well and I was pleased and surprised by the results. Communication through out the process was outstanding. I would definitely use these folks again. They were professional all through out the process.

Sequoia Roofing was contacted as one of 4 contractors asked to provide proposals for re-roofing our house (see above). Mike returned our call within one business day and quickly scheduled a day/time to look at our home. Mike was professional and punctual and provided us with a written proposal within 1 business day. Mike and Sequoia roofing have excellent reviews on Angie's list and I'm sure the company does excellent work. We did not select this company as the bid was highest of the four bids I received, for what I am certain was a comparable scope of work and materials.

WOW that is all I can say, this is an A++ organization all the way around, from the owner to the crew that is sent out you can tell that they know roofing and customer satisfaction is a priority. I was going through escrow and needed to find a reliable roofer to help me win the case that the roof needed to be replaced. I called 2 roofers to go out and Mike was the most responsive, every question I had he answered clearly and concisely. Once it was time to schedule the job Sequoia was the clear choice, Mike was accommodating and got the job schedule ASAP. On the first day the crew was out there at 0730 and tearing the roof off, I met Mike shortly after and he showed me the issues that they uncovered from the tear off and in layman?s terms explained what they will do to fix the situations. At this point I was introduced to Juan, Juan is a huge asset to Sequoia, and He communicated well and made sure I was aware of what was going on and how they were progressing. It looked like they completed more than 70% of the job on day one after a long 12 hour day; they returned the next day ready to work at 0800 and did it again, impressive. Overall this was a great experience and I would recommend Sequoia to anyone. They knocked this job out in 2 days of very hard work during a heat wave and it looks like I have a brand new house. What a pleasure it was to have Sequoia Roofing to repair our very leaky roof. We had several leaks throughout our home and they fixed all of them within two days at a very reasonable cost. Mike, the owner, was very prompt and extremely professional. He gave us two bids..........one to fix the leaks and the other for a whole new roof. We chose to fix the leaks only because we didn't plan on living in this home for more than two or three more years. If we had intended to stay for a long period of time, we definitely would have chosen to have a new roof because that was also a very reasonable price. His employees were also very professional and polite. They also asked again to see where the leaks were in the house to make sure that they knew all of the repairs to be done. They worked very quietly and efficiently. No loud music or loud voices. We have yet to see the results due to lack of rain, but we are confident that Sequoia Roofing solved our problems. We would definitely recommend this company to our friends and family. From now on, we will check with Angie's List for any home improvements.

Mike communicated well. His worker did a nice job and wanted to make sure I was satisfied. I would use Mike again.

I called to make an appointment for an estimate and Mike came out a few days later (Tuesday). He emailed me the estimate Tuesday night and followed that up with a phone call on Wednesday. I was very interested in the roofing system he proposed but was concerned because it was about $1500 more than other bids (that were a traditional re-roof). Mike said he had had a cancellation for the following week, and if I was able to have them do the work that soon, he would see what he could do to bring the price down. He was able to lower it by about $800 and I agreed to have the work done beginning the following Monday. Mike and three of his crew were there around 8:00 Monday morning. Mike introduced me to Juan and then Juan and the two others began working. On Tuesday and Wednesday, there were five on the crew. I had originally been told that it would take four days, but they were able to finish in two and a half. On Monday they worked from about 8:30 to 4:30, on Tuesday from 7:30 to about 6:00 and on Wednesday from about 8:30 to 12:30. Mike came by every day to see how the work was going and to see if I had any questions. Juan and the others on the crew were very polite and professional. Mike came by again on Wednesday after they had finished, got up on the roof and checked everything out. Some of the covers on the gutters had popped out a little, so he had Juan go up and put them all in correctly. As I walked around the house, I couldn't believe what a good and thorough job they had done cleaning up. Mike and his crew were very professional and the whole process was fast. The guys worked hard all the time they were there and Mike was involved with the whole process. I highly recommend this company.

This company was just amazing to work with. The owner, Mike, is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. His project manager did a great job also. The roofers showed up every day as scheduled and worked hard all day long. If I had any questions, I could either call or e-mail Mike, and he would get back to me in a very timely fashion. The workers were respectful and friendy, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. I felt very comfortable having these men around I would have no hesitation at all in recommending these roofers to anyone. The roof turned out great.

I called three roofing contractors (all listed on Angie's List). A three came to the house to inspect the job, but only two elected to bid. Sequoia was the low bid by a fair margin. Mike was by far the most courteous, responsive and knowledgeable of the contractors who responded. I was happy that his bid was the most competitive as I wanted to pick him after my initial conversation with him. It took me a while to decide to go forward with the job (for reasons unrelated) but Mike kept his price and was even ready to start the week after I called to give him the "go". Mike provided his insurance info promptly (upon my request) and unsolicited provided a link to a website describing the roofing product/system they were going to install. His team showed up, as promised, at 8am on the day after Memorial Day and jumped in to it. Their team of 5-7 guys worked very hard from 8am to 7pm from Tuesday through Saturday and got the job done in those 5 days (just as Mike promised). The team was courteous, neat, careful with their equipment and clearly skilled at what they do. Mike's foreman took time to show me the areas of water damage and how the prior installation had been poor. I have a high degree of confidence that the job was done right this time. I would absolutely recommend Sequoia to a friend. A top quality organization run the way a contractor should be run.

The work turned out well. The service was prompt, courteous, and effective.

Mike gave us an estimate for both a partial repair and a total replacement of roof He was extremely patient in explaining all the pros and cons and gave us a thorough understanding in advance of what would be done,and what the process entailed and kept us informed everyday of the progress being made. Guillermo and the rest of the crew could not have been nicer, or more professional. Everyone showed up each morning and got to work...no blaring music, coarse language, etc. They stayed on the job for 8 or more hours each day and cleaned up all debris, nails, etc. each day before leaving the site. upon completion, my garden looked neater than when they started Mike and his crew could not have been more professional, considerate, or capable. I would gladly and confidently recommend Mike and his company , Sequoia Roofing, to my friends and family we are thrilled with the outcome and so glad we chose this contractor...I just wish he could do ALL repairs in my home

JOP WENT VERY WELL. MIKE ROCHHOLZ, CEO, WAS THE PERSON WHO BID THE JOB, AND CAME TO SUPERVISE THE PROJECT MANY TIMES WHILE HIS WORKERS WERE DOING THE WORK. COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. MIKE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY AS THEY WENT ALONG. ALL WORK WAS COMPLETED WITHIN 2 DAYS, AND YARD WAS ALL CLEANED UP WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED.

Mike and his crew did an excellent job. They worked long hours, were very communicative and did exactly what was discussed in the bid. We had complicated issues with our roof, and they were incredibly accommodating, going way above and beyond our expectations. I would recommend Sequoia Roofing to anyone who needs a new roof or roof repair.

They came back immediately very promptly which you hoped them to do. The past job they did, didn't move because they came up with a very good job later. It was Christmas, it had rained that day and the roof was leaking so we called them to fix it. They came that day, since we had company we asked them to come back the next day. I will use them in future.

Mike sent a crew within a day of my call to cover my house to protect the interior from further damage from rain. As soon as the rain ended, the crew got to work. They were fast and dedicated. They cleaned up well.

The job went very smoothly.Mike was very prompt to submit an estimate,answer all of my questions and provide some written documents I requested.His crew works very fast and efficiently.Guillermo who is his crew manager was very informative throughout the job and easy to talk to.We originally were going to just reroof the back side of the house and the small storage shed but later decided to reroof the whole house after I asked Guillermo to remove some tiles and inspect the old felt.It really needed to be done since the roof was the original and 30 years old.The job was completed in 5 and a half business days from start to finish which was much quicker than some of the other roofing contractors quoted.Guillermo also gave me 20 extra roof tiles for spares which I thought was very nice and professional!

They were pretty good. They came out on time and were timely in getting the job done. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

We noticed water seeping through our ceiling and wall in our master bedroom on the third day of heavy rain storm. We called Sequoia Roofing and a tarp was placed. A couple of weeks later Mike, the owner, came for a visit but never climbed to top of the roof. He stated that he read all the notes and gave me a quote based on the written report made by his men on the day the tarp was placed. He offered a discount of $150 from the cost of the tarp placement to be used toward the roof costs. The roof was fixed within a week of his quote.

It took a little time to get on the schedule, but as soon as they had an opening, they came by and fixed the roof quickly. They were nice and did a great job. I would recommend them for their quality work and reasonable prices.

Sequoia Roofing is a first-rate company that offers quality materials and highly skilled craftsmanship. Their crew is punctual, professional, courteous, and it is clear they take pride in their work and in pleasing their customers. Given all the extras included in the price, I feel satisfied that I received an excellent value. The roof looks great, doesn't leak, and they picked up every scrap of debris.

Owner Mike was very responsive and quality of work was good. Overall, a job well done.

Mike was very professional and honest. Original estimate ended up costing us almost 10% more as job went on and new problems were discovered. His crew showed up on time and worked steadily for several days until the job was complete. They cleaned up everything before they left. Had some leaks with the very heavy rain mid-December. Mike came back promptly to investigate and let us know the nature of the problem (cracking stucco), which is my next job for Angie's list!
