Sequoia Roofing responded quickly to repair my damaged tile roof. This is the second time that I have used the company. Once again I needed a quick response since the termite tenting company had destroyed some tiles right before a major storm was due. And boy what a storm with thunder, lightening and high winds. Mike's team showed up before the storm and covered the damaged areas with plastic to prevent further damage. They then returned and replaced the tiles. They also fixed an area around the chimney by replacing some flashing and the underlying felt that was damaged. After a termite tenting, I recommend that you have a roofing company inspect your roof since you may not be able to see all of the damage and the termite company may not inform you of the damage as was my case. Sequoia Roofing checked the entire roof and quickly repaired the bad areas. I am now referring to them as Superman since they swoop in just in time to rescue my situation.

We submitted a contact email through their website. Mike responded the very next morning to discuss what we needed. Their first availability was just 2 days out which was very convenient for us. He was prompt to his appointment, and provided us with a thorough report of the damages and the work that needed to be performed. They were a pleasure to work with in providing us out estimates. Should we go further I'd have no hesitation working with them in the future.

Mike, who I believe is the owner of Sequoia Roofing, came and looked at the area that was leaking on the inside then climbed onto the roof to determine what the likely problem was. He then told me that several tiles must have broken in the past and that they slipped down to the point that some of the roof was no longer covered. He then told me that in order to fix it properly an area of about 200 square feet of roof tile needed to be removed (from the edge of the roof to the location of the broken tiles) new tar paper would be put down, the broken tiles replaced and the rest of the tiles reinstalled. He said he would email a contract that afternoon and hoped that he could perform the job in the next day or two. He emailed as promised and let me know he could do the job the next day arriving at 8:30. At exactly 8:30 his crew arrived and got to work. They worked steadily until the job was complete (about 4 hours). They also found several other broken tiles elsewhere on the roof that they replaced. I was very happy with the punctuality and professionalism demonstrated by Sequoia Roofing and felt that the price was fair. Obviously, I won't know if the leak was repaired until the next big storm, but I feel very confident that I have nothing to worry about.

We live in an older spanish style home. The age of our home led to a few surprises on this project, all of which Sequoia Roofing was immensely helpful with. The initial garage re-roof went very smoothly. I was there to watch all the work being done and their crew was very professional and conscientious. From covering items in the garage to protect from debris to adjusting the slope of the roofing material to ensure proper drainage, Sequoia's team was on it. The owner Mike provided supervision regularly, and was always available as any questions arose. Once the garage was done, they moved on to the Spanish tile portion of the main house. When inspecting the chimney area (that had a leak) on the second story, Sequoia notified me that our aging brick chimney might be part of the problem. Rather than just slap some tar on it and not mention the chimney, they were very conscientious. Unfortunately, we had to pause the roofing project and rebuild the top of our chimney. It wasn't an expense we expected, but we were glad Sequoia was concerned enough to point it out, and willing to adjust their completion schedule around the fix. Most roofers probably wouldn't have bothered to mention the chimney issues, which would have come back to haunt us later. Extensive termite damage was found on both the roof sheathing and corbels around the perimeter of our roof. Again, Sequoia was extremely conscientious about finding and repairing the damage. They went above and beyond dropping off and picking up custom replacement corbels. They also enthusiastically went along with a slight change to the garage roof project (adding tile to the perimeter of the roof). They also sourced and installed some copper trim that we decided on during the project. Mike and his team were great and embody the kind of contractors I hoped to find on Angie's list: honest, skilled, communicative, flexible and conscientious. We had a great experience with Sequoia Roofing.

. Installed After a surprise rain storm we realized that our roof needed some serious work. I contacted 4 different roofing contractors and I am delighted that I chose the roofing team at Sequoia Roofing Inc. Mike came out promptly and took a good look at the roof and the photos I provided of the areas of stucco that retained moisture after the rain. Mike provided an extensive quote and his company was the only one to suggest a better quality underlayment that is designed for use under our concrete tiles. The underlayment is clearly miles better that regular roofing paper and I am very disappointed that more roofers are not offering better quality materials to their customers. Why would I want to use the old roofing paper method when new technologies exist that provide longer lasting and better coverage? The crew was super professional and incredibly quick considering the many repairs that our roof needed. The entire front of the house had to be reworked and some stucco had to be removed and redone to match the existing color. The match is amazing and the quality of the work far exceeds the original roofing job that was done some 25 years ago. I would not hesitate to recommend Sequoia Roofing to anyone needing any work done. I waited until after several significant storms to write this review and the roof not only looks fantastic, there have been no problems anywhere!!!!!

This company is well deserving of its A rating. Mark Gutierrez was the contact person and overall supervisor. He was easy to get hold of, and he maintained good communication throughout the project. They did everything start to finish in the time they said they would, cleaned up after themselves, and overall did a great job. The roof looks so much better.

Returned phone call, came out asap to give quote, followed up immediately, was able to identify problem, spent time over the phone going over different scenarios, very reasonably priced, came at appointed time,gave nice warranty, great experience

If anyone needs roofing work done, Sequoia Roofing Inc is who they should do it with. I interviewed three companies. I own my own business, so I know what I am looking for. I was very happy with Sequoia. It is hard to find companies like them because they do what they say they are going to do, arrive on time and finish the project on time. It was a refreshing experience. Their responsiveness was one reason why I didn’t go with another company that I interviewed. Their price was competitive. I would use them again in the future if necessary. I would recommend them to others.

Mark Gutierrez came out to give me a bid, he was very friendly and took his time to make sure he wasn't missing anything. Mark was on time for the appointment and was very timely with submitting the bid to me. He was also nice enough to come out 2 days later to put a tarp up before it rained again even though I had not given him the job yet. Due to the nature of the roof issue the previous owner of my house had agreed to pay for the repairs and thus ended up going with a contractor of his choice. If I had been responsible for the repair I would have certainly hired Mark for the job.

Mike promptly came by to give me an estimate for the work I needed done. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I agreed to have him do the work which was done fairly quickly. He knew how we needed the work done sooner than later due to the water issue in the house. He fit us in and did a top notch job! Since this house is a foreclosure that needs much work we will be seeing him again to repair the rest of the roof. I would highly recommend him and his company.

Estimator Mark returned my call promptly within an hour of initial call. We exchanged voice mails for a round or two, and made an appointment within a day. He was quick and professional, described what he believed to be the problem and gave me a "ball-park" estimate for the repair. He offered to send an official estimate via email and took my email address. Our only glitch was that he took down the address wrong which resulted in a delay in receiving the estimate. However once that was resolved, I agreed to the price which was about what he had said it would be and much to my surprise Mark had a crew available to do our small job within a day and the job was completed. Once up on the roof with the tiles removed the crew found more damage than Mark had anticipated, so he came by personally to explain what would be needed and what the cost difference would be ( to me it was not that terribly much- maybe for some people it would have been a problem) and he agreed to absorb some of the extra cost since he had missed it in his original estimate. I was really impressed with his business ethic and his overall approach to meeting my needs as a customer. What remains to be seen is how the roof will fare in the next big rain storm! Based on my experience this far, I have every confidence that it will be just fine!

During the last rainy season, new leaks were popping up in quite a few different areas of our ~25 year old home. We had noticed that, over the previous few years, many of our neighbors have been extensively repairing or replacing their roofs. There is one particularly troublesome area in our type of home's roofplan where two slopes meet - we have had this spot worked on by 2 different contractors in the past 10 years and the leak would always come back with a vengence. It was at the point where something absolutely had to be done by this upcoming rainy season. Three reputable contractors were interviewed (one neighborhood favorite and 2 from the top of Angie's List) and submitted bids. All were in the same ballpark, but what set Sequoia Roofing at the head of the pack for me was owner Mike Rochholz. He carefully and patiently listened to my list of observations and concerns about the condition of the roof. Of the three, he was the only one to suggest and describe multiple options for fixing our problems. I carefully and thoroughly researched the roofing system that we ultimately went with, and determined that it would be a good fit for our situation. Mike brought up aesthetic considerations, and offered alternative solutions in that aspect, too. Ultimately, we decided to reuse our existing terra-cotta colored spanish style tiles - and the new, supplemental, tiles have been worked into the pattern to our great visual satisfaction. The roofing crew was professional, courteous, friendly and very hard-working. They were neat and cleaned up daily. Our privacy was always respected, and I could not believe how quickly the job was finished. Mike answered all calls and emails promptly. He thoroughly addressed any questions and concerns throughout the whole process. I believe that there is a solid relationship that has been formed between contractor and client, and would feel comfortable contacting him about any issues, no matter how small, that come up in the future. As a new subscriber, I feel confident that a good choice was made through the help of Angie's List. During the last two rainstorms that hit us recently (sometimes with hard downpours and very gusty winds...conditions that would send us running for buckets last rainy season) we were dry as a bone and happy as a clam!

I have nothing but good things to say about these guys. I called to schedule an appointment to get an estimate for a leaking roof. Mark Gutierrez called me back promptly and scheduled an appointment around my schedule. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem and knowing rains were on the way temporarily patched the problem area. We received heavy rains the next day (I guess weathermen are occasionally right) and he emailed me during the heaviest part of the rain just to check on how the patch was holding (it was btw). Great service and quality work. I would highly recommend them.

It went great. We had multiple bids before we choose Sequoia, they were VERY professional, on time, knowledgeable, and the price was just right. Our roof was a mess and unfortunately they opened a can of worms to fix a section of our very brittle, old and decayed roof. They definitely lost money on the whole deal but, all the while kept a good attitude and never once attempted to mention charging more than what was originally quoted. We sold that house and now have a new one, there's no one else I would consider calling to get the job done right.

I was very pleased with Sequoia Roofing's professionalism and quality of work. I had purchased a solar energy system so wanted to have a long lasting roof before installing the solar panels. Sequoia Roofing personnel (Mark) contacted the Solar Energy provider, visited their location to view and share types of materials each would use, and coordinated with the Solar Energy company to accommodate their schedule such that as Sequoia Roofing folks removed the old roof, the Solar Energy folks could come in and install the frames for the solar panels, then the roofers could shingle the area and the solar folks could finish up installing the panels. Mark was extremely cooperative with the other company, and with me and my schedule. He kept me informed every step of the way. Mark even came out after the job was done to tack down a cable running along the side of my house, and paint it to match the stucco color. I highly recommend this company to others.

I interviewed four different roofers based on recommendations from friends, neighbors, and Angie's List (Sequoia). All were generally consistent in their assessments and suggested work plans. Sequoia, however, did the most thorough inspection, leading to identification of problem areas that the others missed. Sequoia was also the only company to provide photos of the problem areas. (The photos were a great help to understand exactly what was wrong. Seeing the broken/slipped tiles also helped to have confidence in the recommendations being made.) All companies provided written estimates. Again, Sequoia's was the most detailed and thorough; they also provided an estimate for a complete lift and re-lay in case I wanted to go that way or it became needed once the work got underway. Sequoia worked closely with a contractor doing other related work at the house for both work timing and questions or information from the contractor; that close collaboration really made for a smooth overall job and kept me from having to be a go-between. Roofing work started as scheduled even though rain the previous week put a squeeze on the other jobs Sequoia had going. On Day 1, Mike Rochholz, the owner, came to the house to do a closer inspection of the overall roof condition once tiles had been removed and the underlayment and paper exposed. He presented me with a balanced assessment of the overall roof conditions, work options (repair or full re-lay), and pros and cons. I didn't feel any pressure to go one way or the other and Mike supported my decision to stay with the repair only route. The roofing repairs were completed in the originally estimated 2 days duration. The crew was friendly and incredibly hard-working - they worked non-stop from early morning until sundown and sweated it out in the Santa Ana heat. Mike was very open and responsive to questions and additional requests and needs I had during the job. Roof work is expensive and it's hard to know for sure if you got what you paid for since you can't really do your own inspection. However, based on my experience with Sequoia Roofing from the first inspection visit through to the close of the job, I'm very confident in what was done and with the quality with which it was done. I called to ask some questions and see if I could arrange for an appointment/estimate and reached an answering service. The answering service assured me that I would get a call back from the company but five days later they have not bothered to return my call. Business must be good.

These guys were great - and they really came through for us in a tight situation. Sequoia's pricing was reasonable and their quality of work excellent - I know, having personally witnessed all the critical phases of their work. Most importantly, their project manager (Mark) and roofers (Guierrmo, Ivan, Joaquin, and several others) were very experienced, well organized and truly committed to doing the job right. We thought our flat roof had only 1 roofing layer, having paid another roofer to tear off all the old layers many years ago. However, in preparing to simply install a new layer and replace the drains, it became apparant that there were still 2 layers in most areas (one was tar and gravel). Mark had already included a tear-off option, but because of an impending rainstorm, Sequoia had to double the crewsize in order to expedite removal and install the new layer. The entire job had to be tarped several times during rain showers. And Mark and his crew worked overtime (with lights) until 8pm and 10pm on two nights in order to get our home rain tight before the main storm hit. Much thanks to Sequoia and we are very happy to recommend this company to others.

Mike, the owner, responded to my call within hours. He came over early the next week to inspect the roof and gave me the initial estimate for the work, with a fair price. The work actually actually started the next day and, in spite of expanded scope because of additional problems found during the work, the job was finished on the second day.The cost of the expanded scope was also very reasonable. The crew was very professional and worked extremely hard over 8 hours per day on 2 warm days. Cleanup was thorough and I am completely satisfied with the work. I would definitely hire Sequoia Roofing again.

We got exactly the same diagnosis and cost estimate ($650) from multiple roofing companies, which made us feel confident that we got a good inspection from each company. We chose to work with Sequoia because Mark was responsive, professional, and enthusiastic about the work -- they scheduled an inspection quickly, sent an estimate right away, and scheduled the work as soon as possible. Even though the repair was only a small job, Mark and Guillermo were generous about answering our questions about the rest of the roof, and pointed out what parts of the roof were in good condition, and what parts might be a problem in a few years. In response to our concern about a window that leaked, they did not find any problem when they inspected the roof in that area, but they went the extra mile and did a hose test on the window and double-checked the roof while the water was spraying, to make sure it wasn't a roof problem. Because of our positive experience with a small roof repair, Sequoia will be first on our list to call when we have bigger roof repairs.

I left a message in the morning to contact me regarding an estimate on my roof. I was contacted the same day by Mark and set up an appointment a couple of days later. As it turns out the day of the appointment was the day of the power outage that affected over 6 million people. In addition to the traffic lights that were out which caused major traffic delays, the temperature was in the high 90's. Mark called to say he was going to be late due to the traffic situation. He showed up a short time later and was very quick and professional. He even asked if it was okay to park in the driveway. He sent an estimate as promised. Though I did not use this company due to unforeseen expenses, Mark was very professional and friendly. I would use this company when I am readying to do the repairs.

First class from the estimate, through the work, and it was completed ahead of schedule and on budget.
