The new internet and phone service is as good as cable or fiber and works at the full 50 mb/s, which is far beyond what we needed. Their service people go way beyond what is expected in professionalism, knowledge and getting the job done right. They are fast, courteous and technically incredible. Too bad they are limited to AT&T installations and trouble-shooting. We made a couple good friends during this process. Young, adventurous and motivated. Not stuffy old greedy Cox or Time Warner con artists.
Description of Work: We had AT&T's ddsl internet and national phone service installed. Then called them again a few days later to help with an inside connection.

They can be too high-priced. They have something that works with my alarm system. If you try to use it for anything beyond that, the latest is very high. It works fine but it costs a lot. The service is good but it costs too much. They're pretty good about issues.

We had scheduled an activation of internet with ATand T with self-install of the internet. The next morning after it was supposed to be activated we got a voicemail from ATand T saying that they're sorry for the inconvenience but the technician couldn't get onto the property to do the DSL activation, so I need to call back and resechedule and they give us a totally different number to call. When we set up initially there was no mention that an actual technician would be doing anything, nor did they tell us we needed to be around all day on the due date. We called customer service and we mention the phone jack inside just needed the wiring connected and we get transferred to sales to get that reconfigured.....then the line gets disconnected. They don't call back even though my cell phone is on file as the number to call back if I get disconnected. So we call again and go through the same thing and now we are really getting frustrated. We get transferred to sales and the guy try's to change it to full installation, then he realizes he can't do it, and tries to transfer me to technical support so they can change it. We get put on hold and then suddenly the automated voice says, I'm sorry the extension you dialed cannot be completed from your dialing area good bye. So we call AGAIN.....finally get someone helpful on the line.....but my account is being tied up in technical services so he can't reschedule even just the DSL activation and we are put on hold for a while. Finally he comes back and reschedules the activation and says a technician will be coming out sometime Monday, but he can't tell me when and he's put a note in for the technician to call me for access to complex.....but services are due to be on by 8pm Monday night. BUT he couldn't get the system to accept the change to have it as a full install..... It wasn't worth staying on the phone with ATand T one more second. We spent over an hour on and off the phone with ATand T.
Description of Work: Scheduling of Internet Service activation. Technician arrived and though we were happy with his professionalism, we were not happy with AT&T.

They have been pretty good. I would continue to use them.
Description of Work: I used SBC/AT&T for internet, phone and cable. I have been using them for years since 1998. It was more affordable and we can bundle everything, which was not found with some other service provider.

I got an introductory price for a year and I like the service. The television menu is easy to operate and they have the whole house connection which is nice. I am not sure if I will continue to use their service in the future. I want others to know that they should get everything in writing don't go with the verbal either for a price quote or a service quote get it in writing because they don't stand behind their representatives and what their representative actually tell you.

I don't love them, but, they just happen to be available in this area. Sometimes, they say they're coming and don't.
Description of Work: I have service with them and they came and put U-verse on my computer in July. I pay $58 a month for U-verse and I have the cellular phone with them. I can't recall how much my cellular service is.

I am mostly happy with them. I've had different providers over the years and none of them are any better or worse. I've been with them for about 4 years. We got grandfathered in for the data plan. The price could be a lot worse. I've had no need to contact them for anything. I will probably continue to use them.

The service included our guest house where my seriously il father-in-law lived. I was working on the computer and through the speakers I barely heard my father-in-law call out for help, as he had fallen and injured himself. ATand T had crossed the wiring up and his phone only worked if our internet connection was not in use. I called the ATand T office which had handled the installation aad got a recording that said that the next available rep would be with me in minutes. Over an hour later I hung up in disgust. Monday I emailed the ATand T office and asked i they could give me one reason why I shouldn't cancel all of my service. I never got the courtesy of a reply

We had hoped to save a few bucks each month, so decided to go with ATand T. ATand T was offering internet and TV for quite a bit less then what we had with our other service. So, we finally went for it. We asked ATand T if all the local stations were on their Dish, and they said "Oh Yeah." We asked specifically if they carry local Padres games. I mean, We LOVE baseball. ATand T said , "Oh Yeah!" They even have it recorded that they said "Oh Yeah." You know what...they don't! We called again...ahem...do you carry the Padres? Yeah, "we should" they say. "Oh, well, hmmm, perhaps not...hmmm, we SHOULD have it." OK, either they do not know their own product, or they lied to us. Either is a terrible alternative. So back we went to our other service. We gotta have our baseball. But the internet service still is good right? Well, we knew DSL would be a bit slower than cable, but that was okay. We don't do that much important stuff online anyway. Well, we kept losing our connection. We called, and sure enough, there was something wrong with our line. But they would come out and fix it...between 1 and 4 on Thursday. Well 4 comes around and no one. So we call. "Oh yeah," they say, "We will have someone out there soon." No one showed up. I am sorry, but pick up that new invention called a telephone, and give us a call to tell us you are not coming out. We have complained, and supervisors were going to call us back. Never called. We called so many times. One time we were put on hold for 20 minutes, then got someone and complained, and was switched back to the start of the system. Bye bye ATand T!!!!!!!!!! Lousy product, lousy service and lousy customer relations! We are very happy to be back to Time Warner and they now also offer pkgs so the price is about the same.

We called ATand T and arranged to purchase high speed internet. We received the modem with instructions a few days later. I followed the directions for installation on the CD and found them easy to understand for the most part. I am not the most technical person but I was able to set it up myself using the CD in less than an hour. I have been using a dial-up modem for many years and this is so much faster even though it costs more, $35 a month compared to $100 per year for my dial-up service.

For years SBC was my local and ATand T my long distance carrier. Service was always fine. The companies merged and service continued to be fine. Although I would have to periodically call to be put on a less-expensive plan. Yesterday, I called to get pricing. The first person I reached told me I was speaking to NEW ATand T and they couldn't access my file. The next person (another number) told me I was OLD ATand T and I'd have to call a different number. I tried six OLD ATand T numbers. Each one had a horrendous voice tree that I tried to navigate through just to get an agent on the phone. Each time, after many minutes, I was told to visit the website and was disconnected. I did reach an OLD ATand T rep this morning. He didn't say so but implied that they would prefer customers re-sign with the NEW ATand T. So I did. I moved my phone business to the cable company.

As always, SBC is very professional and service was established on time and has been reliable. The price for local service was fine. I opted for a third party for long distance and local long distance because the rates there were too high compared to the competition.

Installation for internet service was quick and the price was fantastic. The service has been generally reliable once I worked through some bugs during installation. The speed of connection seems to always be slower than the advertised rate, but for the price I cannot complain.

This company TOTALLY SUCKS! The web hosting is always having glitches and is miserable. They have NO customer service, and they do not fix problems. I have been having the same issue for over three weeks, and all they do is switch it from one lousy customer (no) service rep to the next and make me repeat all the same information. I would NEVER recommend SBC Yahoo and SBC Yahoo web hosting to anyone who wants to keep their sanity. They are a bunch of schmucks!
