Well done and professional

Went fine.

I selected this firm based on the other reports on Angie's List. He was supposed to arrive at 2:30PM. He did not arrive as he was scheduled. At 3:15PM I phoned him. He apologized for not keeping the appointment and asked if he could reschedule. Because of his excellent rating on Angie's List, I agreed to schedule him for the following Thursday at 3:00PM. I left work early that day and waited for him. Once again, he did not arrive at the scheduled time. I phoned him at 3:20PM. Once again he stated that he got busy. He requested that I allow him to reschedule. When I said that I would not reschedule again, he hung up on me before I could say anything else. Anyone can have unexpected problems with their time management, but there is no excuse for not phoning the customer to inform them of delays or the need to reschedule. The entire experience was unprofessional.

Great experience. Prompt, efficient, professional. His quote was $250 on phone. When he arrived and realized he would have to go into the walls, he raised it to $350. That is always suspect but it was still 1/2 the price as next best quote so we kept him on the job. He spent most of a day working. The next day there was still a small cluster of bees so he came out to check it out and we've been bee-free ever since (2 weeks). I downgraded him on price NOT because he was expensive, but because he changed his estimate,

Otto is a real professional. He first came and gave an estimate for removing a hive from the attic above our 3rd floor dormer. I was more concerned about his ability to cut into the roof and repair it without damaging the tiles and causing leaks, but he explained in detail the process and assured me he had worked on roofs just like mine many times before. I was also concerned that the bee colony be saved rather than just killed. Otto is also a bee keeper, so it's very important to him to save the hive. He scheduled the removal within a week. He returned with one other worker and cut into the roof, removing almost 80 pounds of honeycomb. He cleaned out where the hive was, placed the queen and some of the honeycomb in a bee box that was left for several days for the bees to rebuild in, then repaired the roof and closed off access to the attic so they wouldn't come back. Several days later, he returned to retrieve the bee box and the new hive. The bees have not returned and there are no leaks after several very heavy rains. He guarantees his work for 1 year. It's not cheap, but I was willing to pay the price to save the bees and my house. I highly recommend Otto and his team. He warned ahead of time that sometimes tiles get broken. In the end, they only broke one tile, which was replaced from the several spares that I had.

I left a messge for the owner, he called back promptly, went to the property the next day. Arranged to come back in 2 days (it was not an emergancy removal), moved the hive into a box and left it on the roof 'till the bees returned home in the evening. Came back and took the boxed bees away to live out their natural lives someplace useful and away from my houses and tenants! Smooth and efficiant, and tho' there are times when bee killing has to happen, I was happier to have the bees be removed live.

Perfectly handled from start to finish

Entire process went extremely well. Otto came out within 24 hours of our call, and was able to return later the same day to perform removal services. Reportedly, in an attempt to eradicate the bees, an exterminator/pest control company treated the same area (twice) with pesticide(s) approximately 5 months ago. We discovered the bees about 2 weeks after purchasing the home, and, as we prefer the removal option, contacted local beekeepers who also perform removal services. Otto and his assistant were knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Although I believe the job may have entailed more work and time than they originally expected (the bees had built all the way into the attic), they did their work thoroughly and pleasantly, and billed me exactly what they quoted me. They were a delight to deal with from start to finish. I highly recommend Otto and his company.
