We had Roberts come and do a quote for backyard lighting that was a fairly involved job (just under $2000 worth of work), and they got back to us in a reasonable time frame. We chose them for the work as they had previously done good work for us on our former home. They showed up the day we scheduled them, albeit a bit later than planned...but they called ahead to say they were running late. This actually happened 2 times, but since we work from home it wasn't a big deal that they were late, and it was nice of them to call and let me know. The job was supposed to take about a day's worth of work, and they didnt start until Wed afternoon, so we knew it would go into Thursday but didn't mind. By the end of Thursday they still werent done and said they'd need to come back Friday....but on Friday they called to say they had another job that was conflicting and wouldn't be over, and couldnt make it on Saturday either and said they'd need to come back on Monday. We weren't too happy with this as we were having a large gathering of people over on Sunday and needed the work done before then. In hindsight (and as a recommendation for all other customers), I should have been clear from the start that we needed the work done prior to Sunday...but with an estimate of and quot;1 days workand quot; and them starting on Wednesday, I never really thought to worry about whether it would be done by Sunday. So I was pretty upset and contacted the office. They were very apologetic and understanding of my frustration. They worked with their team to ensure they could come back to my house on Friday and finish the job, which they did. From a skill level perspective, they were great and the lighting looks awesome. I wasn't even sure how they were going to accomplish everything we had asked for as it seemed pretty complicated, but they got it all working exactly as we had hoped. Our friends were really impressed with the lighting when they saw it. Overall I wouldnt hesitate to use them again. They did get a little backed up on other jobs which caused delays and we had a little bump in the road but they were quick to remedy it, which is the most important part if you ask me (that, and of course actually doing good work). Just be clear to them what your time frame is and when you absolutely need something done.
Description of Work: They removed 2 old outdoor flood lights installed 3 outdoor sconces and 1 outdoor lamp post in the backyard.

Ben from Roberts Electric Service arrived on time. The GFI outlets around the home were tested and one new GFI outlet was installed. The loose wire was secured in a safe and appropriate manner. We had used Roberts Electric on previous occasions and were happy to employ them for this work. We would use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Minor electrical work was recommended by a home inspector. GFI outlets needed to be checked and a loose wire in the crawl space required attention.

One day I thought I had overloaded the circuit that goes to the kitchen and the garage. But on further inspection the reset breaker provided the power to the kitchen but the garage was still without power?! Time for an electrician. I called Roberts Electric and explained my situation to Matt. He explained their rates and said someone would be out between noon and four the next day. And the next day, shortly after noon, Ben arrived. I showed him the outside main panel and a subpanel in the house. He agreed that there was a disconnect somewhere between the sub-panel and the garage. Next stop... the attic where the knob and ceramic (old) system of wires lives. After digging around in the insulation looking for the right wire Ben noticed that one set of wires were no longer connected. Before long he found the connector, it was fried and charred. The connectors were the old crimp type which is taboo today. He replaced the old connectors on both the hot and ground wires with screw-together connectors. When he was done I went out into the garage and put a load on the circuit while Ben was measuring the load that was being used. Et voila, c'est bon.
Description of Work: Tech Ben arrived in a timely manner. His job was to determine why the power was off to the garage despite the position of the circuit breaker. His attic search found a 1924 faulty connector that had failed when I put quite a load on the circuit. It was fried and melted and the wires were just hanging there.

I'm not sure why this customer wrote what he did. Here is the timeline from our records: May 18, 2009 @ 07:37AM Customer called, and work order for evaluation and quote generated. May 19, 2009 @ 04:44PM Our company emailed write-up for evaluation with quote performed earlier that day. May 19, 2009 @ 05:21PM Customer emailed to accept quote and request earliest date available for work. May 21, 2009 @ 08:30AM Our company emailed to reply that the office person had been out sick the previous day, that the earliest available date would be May 26, 2009, and to reply if that was okay. Nothing further was heard from this customer. Please note that we're not claiming to be perfect, but based on this timeline we do not believe his characterization is either fair or accurate. However, even though the quote we provided is from 2009, in the interest of customer service we would be willing to honor our price for that same description of work.

They are definitely great people to work with. They are good about communicating and very fast at taking care of the task at hand. Their rates are good. They have a high level of professionalism and I would recommend them.
