Courteous, Prompt, Efficient, Responsive, and Professional?these are some of the words that describe Rick (the company owner) and his crew. Additionally, RC Roofing Inc. bid was very competitive with other highly rated companies on Angie?s list and BBB in the San Diego area. An additional factor that helped me in deciding to have RC Roofing Inc. put up my roof is that they were able to start the project in a short time frame. Within about a week from when I contacted Rick to begin the project, his crew showed up on the first day promptly and started to work on removing a layer of old shingles from my 1800 sq. ft. two-story home. They covered the grounding around the house before starting work and were able to remove all the old shingles in one day. Rick?s crew left areas around my house clean and free of roofing debris. For the next few days, members of Rick?s crew (Carlos and Ruben) put up new under-layment, installed drip metal edge, and new shingles. The entire roof project took only three days?well within the original estimated time frame that Rick quoted in the contract. On the last day, Rick came out to inspect the work and fixed minor flaws (reinstalling a nail in one of the gutters, cleaning out dust from the solar tube). I?m impressed with his responsiveness and positive temperament in addressing these minor issues after a large project. Lastly, the price quoted on the contract and the final price that I paid varies a little due to some roof structure damage and wood have to be replaced. I'm very please that there were no surprised in the total cost of this roofing project.

I recieved roofing inspection and repair quotes from four roofing contractors. RC and another contractor correctly (I believe) diagnosed the root cause of the leaks. Namely, when the roof was originally installed, the tiles had been "stretched" - that is, too few tiles were used so there was insufficient overlap permitting rain water to blow under the tiles. Over the 19 year life of the roof, the underlying felt/paper dried out resulting in water damage to my home's ceiling and walls (ouch). In repairing the roof, RC matched and added additional tiles so that there was sufficient overalp to block the water. A couple of the contractors didn't catch this - and as a result, I likely would have had the same problem recur down the road. Also, I noticed that RC's bid included work not included in other bids. RC's bid included replacing and resealing all of the metal in the roof valleys and next to the chimneys, walls & skylights. Additionally, RC added 8 attic vents in compliance w/ building codes and manufacturers guidelines. RC's crew arrived on time and worked tirelessly. They did a very good job of cleaning up afterwards and taking care not to damage the landscaping. Rick, the owner, was at the property at the start of the project and several other times as work progressed. All in all, it was a pleasure to work w/ RC Roofing and I can recommend them w/o reservation.

Everything went very smoothly with the company and I would definitely call them again if I need additional roof repair.

The estimate was very reasonable, the company has a high sense of integrity and Comittment to quality service.

The owner who came on the site knew what was going on. They were professional, and they did a great job. The price was fair. The roof hasn't leaked so far. They were very responsive.

I recently contacted 4 roofing contractors to discuss putting a complete new composite roof on our 1927 bungalow (1500 square feet) and detached garage. All previous roofs had to be removed and a new plywood foundation was required. In addition we had some wood damage (trim and fascia) which would also need replacing. I contacted RC Roofing on the strength of the comments I found on Angie's List. I contacted Rick, who returned my call within 24 hours and was able to come by the house 2 days later. He arrived on time, answered all my questions, and then provided me with a clear and detailed estimate within two business days. We were very fortunate in our process as we received not one, but reasonable proposals from excellent roofing contractors. All the companies came highly recommended and provided detailed and technically comparable proposals for replacing our roof. While our selection was never a low-bid wins process, the contractor selected was able to provide a bid that was almost $1400.00 less than RC. We also had the opportunity to watch the company we selected "in action" - daily observations of the entire process of roofing the house of a friend - and so we are confident that the lower cost will not mean that we will receive a roof of lesser construction quality and materials than what was proposed by Rick @ RC. I was, and still am, very impressed with RC's record on Angie's List, and his professionalism throughout bidding process. After our selection was made I met a neighbor who had a tile roof put on by RC, and they too were incredibly please with their experience. Although we did not select RC, I will definitely recommend Rick to any friends who need a roof or roof repair, and would consider them for future projects.

I was careful getting quotes and learning about the many details of the job, ended up with two strong and competitive bids, and picked RC Roofing mostly because of the Angie’s list reviews. RC Roofing did a great job on our roof and we are happy with the result. Because our original roof was sub-par and a subsequent repair job was even worse, I was on the roof every day during this work and could see the job was well done. The work took about four days with a few hours later to address some minor fixes. Rick was very helpful and patient as we had numerous questions before and during the job. I’m finding nails, of course, and I think the magnetic rake I read about in another review would be a good idea at all jobs. We termite-tented the house before the roof job to avoid subsequent tile damage and I took the opportunity to paint the fascia while the tiles were off.

He did a great job. He was very reasonable. They did a great job of fixing my roof. They are very honest, and they are pretty good.

On any question I had, they always got back to me right away. They showed up on time. They did the work they said they were going to do. They left the place nice and clean. They left on time for the cost they said they were going to do it. It was very nice. If I would email the owner with a question, I would always get an email back the same evening with an answer. He was the only company that did that. I am very pleased with them. His price wasn?t the cheapest, but it was good. He was a pleasure to deal with.

Rick and his crew are fantastic! Rick's crew, Carlos, Ruben and Omar (two of whom have been working with Rick for at least 13 years) were punctual and did a wonderful job. There was attention to detail and getting things just right. Rick was on-site and made sure everything was delivered on time and was going well. When Rick had to be off-site, he was just a phone call away. Rick and his crew were friendly, courteous, respectful and *very* conscientious. The crew cleaned up around the perimeter of our house after both days work, and they even used the magnetic broom up to five times both days to be sure they got all the nails from the grass and driveway--that was going the extra mile just to make sure I was a satisfied customer because I had mentioned something about roofing nails in the grass!!!! Rick found a problem around the chimney cap and with the chimney stucco, and he took photos for me and brought it to my attention as something I'd want to fix before next winter. Out of all the roofing estimates I received, Rick was the only one who, when asked if he removes the old nails or just pounds them back in when doing the tear-off, responded that they remove the old nails. That was the correct answer for doing a tear-off correctly, and that was impressive that Rick did things the right way, and not the easy-way-out. I would highly recommend Rick and RC Roofing Inc as exemplary!!

BACKGROUND. 1977 built 1000 ft square rental home was in need to replace original roof for some time. I live in Seattle, Washington area, and the house to be re-roofed is located in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego, CA. Unfortunately, the bad reputation of a few bad roofers raised my concern attempting to locate a quality roofer at such a distance. Though I have friends who live in the San Diego area, none were willing to recommend a quality roofer for the job. I tried Home Depot, but they refused the job as it was an "attached home". When I heard of Angie's List, I signed up specifically for help in finding a quality roofer. . ESTIMATES. I started my subscription to Angie's list about 1 year before starting the roofing job. I seriously searched for a roofer on Angie's List about 6 weeks before the job was to begin (late April 2011). I reviewed many of the roofers listed in Angie's List reading and printing many reviews. I settled on three well recommended roofers from Angie's List. I called all three and requested an estimate from all three. As it was a rental, out of respect to the tenant, they needed to coordinate with my local property manager to gain access. Two of the three submitted a bid for the project: R/C Roofing and Sequoia Roofing. Professional Roofing was also offered the opportunity to bid on the project, but after repeated phone calls and reassurances by the telephone answering representative, no estimate was submitted by Professional Roofing Services. I found dealing with Professional Roofing as a potential customer anything but professional and they were dropped from consideration. (Please note the telephone representative was very kind and friendly, just never saw any action from the company. ) I finally settled on R/C Roofing to do the job. It was a difficult choice, but I liked the choice of the shingle R/C Roofing was recommending (It was recommended as a "Best Buy " by Consumers Reports), the strong recommendations in Angie's List, and very competitively priced. The estimate was thorough with a specific listing of services and materials to be used. I was able to take this information and review the quality of roofing material being used and color options available. R/C Roofing web site makes reviewing these options easy to access. I carefully reviewed the entire bid estimate, the preparation list for customer in great detail and drafted a detailed email as to any of my concerns. (Keeping in mind I was coordinating this from Seattle, WA). We later discussed each item in the email via telephone which clarified any outstanding issues. We then came up with a proposed start date for the project: April 27th through 30th April. I then could take this information to my property manager to work out with the tenant. This arrangement worked out extremely well. The only remaining issue was shingle color selection. Rick (R/C Roofing Owner), indicated to me we could chose the shingle on the day the old roof was being removed. Since my objective was to match my attached neighbor's roof color, this arrangement worked out extremely well. Rick laid out sample shingles on my neighbor's roof, which made the matching choice easy. PROJECT EXECUTION. I flew down to San Diego on the 26th of April the day before the job was scheduled to start. The tear off crew started as scheduled the morning of the 27th. They took great care by protecting the area immediately around the house with tarps to protect the plants in flower beds. Rick and I met in the afternoon to chose the color of the new shingle to be installed. He ordered the shingle that afternoon, and by early evening the roof was clean of the old roofing, nails, and the new roofing material was loaded on the roof. As scheduled ( 28th of April), replacement of sheathing and shingle installation started and was complete by the 29th (as scheduled). Each day we would meet to review and discuss progress of the project, and make adjustments as needed . When the project was completed, I chose to take a tour of the roof, and Rick pointed out the features of the roof. The crew was very friendly, hard workers, and did a thorough job of cleaning up around the house each day. Since roofing is a relatively large project, its always a good idea to plan in a time buffer Though the project started and ended as scheduled, I had allowed a few extra days in case there was a weather delay, or other unplanned issues which can come up. IN SUMMARY. I give Rick Clark and the crew of R/C Roofing my highest recommendation possible for Angie's List members to consider for your roofing needs. In summary, Rick and his crew are dedicated professionals who provide fairly priced and quality roofing services to his customers. I personally experienced this first hand. Rick backs this up with a 10 year workmanship warranty. I have since extended my subscription to Angie's list for another 10 years.

Working with RC Roofing to get our house reroofed was the best customer service experience I've had since my wife and I moved to San Diego. When Rick arrived to measure for a quote he had already used used Google Earth to measure our house and only had to perform a quick remeasure to verify his figures. He had a detailed bid proposal in hand which he explained fully. Comparing Rick's quote to the others I had received, I could tell RC Roofing uses quality materials. They were even putting two layers of underlayment on the flat roof while the other quotes only provided one layer. Another point that sold me on RC was that Rick's quote came in at half as much as another. The tear-off crew arrived promptly at 7:00 a.m. just as scheduled and made quick work of the entire job. They placed tarps all around the house and even did two passes on the cleanup. The tear-off was the only part that was subcontracted, and RC uses this company for all tear-offs due to their professionalism and cleanliness. I did a walk-through of the roof after the tear-off and Carlos listened to all my concerns. He made sure the decking was in perfect shape prior to placing the underlayment. Rick's roofing crew is top-notch. I had another house reroofed previously and have even roofed a couple myself, and I can definitively say these guys are true professionals. This particular crew only works on flat and shingle roofs and they know their stuff. They didn't take any shortcuts and they even took extra time to fix a few problems the previous roofers had left in place.The entire job was complete in three days, and everything went according to plan. I highly recommend RC Roofing and will ask my friends and neighbors to use them whenever they need roof repairs and replacement. They showed up on time, didn't disrupt my schedule, and really worked around me. I would use them again in a heartbeat and reccommend them to anyone with roofing problems.

We had roof damage inside the house. They came and fixed it for us. They were prompt. They were thorough. They did a good job.

After a major rain storm we developed a leak in our downstairs bathroom. Since many homes in our area were experiencing roof problems we just assumed our leak was in the roof. I called Rick, explained my problem and he immediately said he though it was a plumbing problem. He offered to come out the following day to check. Rick couldn't say for sure, but he still thought the leak was a plumbing issue. He told us he would have to tear up part of the roof to confirm but suggested we try a plumber first to avoid roofing expense. We followed his suggestion and sure enough it was a plumbing problem. We were so sure we had a roofing problem and Rick could have negotiated a roofing job with us. Rick came to our home thinking our leak was not a roofing problem and knowing he probably wasn't going to get a roofing job. We really appreciated his honesty and will definetly call him when we have roofing problems.

I felt really good about them. Their quality was high. I thought he really knew his stuff and he was very professional. He called me back and answered follow up questions. The only problem was that he gets a lot of business and he was like six to eight weeks out. I thought he was great and the price he quoted me was in line with everybody. He would call me back when he said he would or emails when he said he would. If he was the quicker one I would have used him.

Last summer they did our roof and then we had some leaks and they came to fix the leak a month ago. They put some additional metal flashing on some parapets so they came out and did that. Work is great He is the best. I interviewed 3 different companies as a function of the Angies list companies and he is very interested in customer service and is a pleasure to deal with. He matched the price. He was slightly more expensive than one of my bids but he matched it and still gave the customer service. I would use him in the future.

We suffered several roof leaks during the December storms and Rick responded quickly to our cries for help. We were able to have an honest discussion about whether to just patch repair, to lift and relay existing tiles or to go for a completely new roof with new tile. At no point did we feel pressured to choose the most expensive option and felt Rick treated us fairly and professionally. We have just moved here from England and are not familiar with this style of house and its maintainance needs at all. From the start we felt we could trust Rick for an honest opinion and not one based on his own personal gain. The whole team were polite, punctual and cleared up brilliantly at the end of each day. Rick was also available each day should we have needed him - we didn't. His team did a fantastic job. It has rained since and not a drop got into the house! Thanks Rick for a great job!

Rick communicated in a timely fashion and quickly got me several options. He was straightforward with the issues and options. Carlos who came out to do the repair was professional and polite. I wasn't around while he completed the work and he let everything looking good. When I get my roof redone I will use these guys.

We had had some minor leaks in our roof (20+ yrs old) and solicited an estimate from RC Roofing. After a prompt and thorough inspection we were told we only required minor repairs (we had expected to need a whole new roof) and given an estimate. Approximately 2 weeks later (the company was very busy after the considerable rain in the area over the holidays), the crew of two arrived exactly on time. The work was completed professionally, and since it took less time than the original estimate, our invoice was adjusted accordingly. Very pleased overall with the entire experience!

They were on-time and spent a lot of time inspecting for the problem. They were very professional. The cost was more than reasonable.

They did a truly great job. The quality of the roof is excellent. I've never had someone work on my house or property and leave basically no traces that they were there. There was NOTHING to clean up afterwards. The garage is right beside a pool, and we asked them to be sure to cover the pool or do whatever was necessary to keep debris out of the pool. Guess what -- they did exactly that. They did everything we asked, for example they closed the side gate when they left. I mention that because there are always small things that you ask people to do, and they forget. Not these guys, they were really on top of everything.

Rick was very responsive and performed everything as described and according to my expectations. Very pleased with their work.

Rick was a little late coming out, but he phoned ahead to warn me. When he got here, he took a quick look at the problem and gave me the "quick fix" for free - as he thought this was all I would really need. He gave me the estimate for the more substantial fix ($800), but he encouraged me to wait and see what the next storm does as he thinks it won't be necessary. That's tremendous service and I would have absolutely no hesitation using his services again if something comes up.
