Description of Work: I've known of them for quite some time, though a couple previous attempts to use them for a repair did not pan out, due to things like parts no longer being available. I did benefit from their free estimates though, in terms of having good info on which to base a decision. Sometimes one might prefer to keep an older printer going if at all possible, for various reasons. In other cases, this might not be feasible. (Later models from the major manufacturers seem to keep getting ever cheaper, flimsier and less reliable. It's very unfortunate, but a lot of today's appliances have become disposable CRAP, which gives you a very disappointing service life and then just goes into a landfill. I've even had this experience with a refrigerator / freezer, where the replacement model costs $2,000. or more. I doubt it will last even half as long as some I've had in the past.) | |Anyway, in the May - July period, I brought them two printers for repair. For one of these, some critical parts were no longer available, but we were able to cannibalize them from a spare unit of the same model that had also ceased working. This turned out to be quite a job, but they charged me only $50., which has to be considered a major bargain ! And it has been working well since then. Weeks later, I brought them an old workhorse HP LJ-4L (the original compact-sized B&W laser) from my Dad's office, which needed a new fuser assembly. That replacement part was still available, although more pricey. This older printer has native drivers for some ancient DOS apps still used in that office, so it was a special case, and worth the cost of repairs. They also don't make laser printers this good or long-lasting anymore, and it's debatable how many users really need more than 600 d.p.i. anyway. Finding new toner cartridges for it has become more challenging, but this can still be done online. | |I had a capable business equipment repair place close by when I lived in L.A., so I'm glad to find this one after relocating here. Description of Work: My HP ink jet printer was making a loud squawk during printing. It seemed like a simple maintenance issue, so I called Printer Repair Depot. (I had used them years ago and had remembered their good service.) They said the problem would require taking apart the printer to get to the drives. They estimated $40 and said it would be ready in 1-1/2 days.
