I was a little gun shy after a not great experience with another painter from angies list but this company emailed me the day I purchased to schedule. Sergio came out and was through, and professional and went above and beyond! I would absolutely use again!

They did a fabulous job. Communication was a little bit difficult. It was nothing tremendous but they weren't the most responsive. I would absolutely use them in the future. They did the job totally and completely like the way it should be done. They didn't cut any corners but their price was very competitive.

I thought he was professional and felt comfortable with his knowledge of the job, however I felt that I was being taken advantage of because of the area that I live in so for that reason I will be going with Certa Pro Painters who gave me a much fairer price.
Description of Work: I was looking at the deal he was running for $1,875 for a Painter for a Week. He came to give me an estimate for my 2,200 square foot home. He ended up giving me an estimate of $4,800 plus $450 for paint. I asked if that included material as well and that's when he quickly added on an additional $150. The total cost for the project would have been $5,400 for two people for six days. I then looked online and saw a deal he was running for a 2,500 square foot home for an interior paint package with paint included for $2,950. I'm very confused as to why I am being charged almost double for a home that isn't even the max square footage allotted in the deal.

Thanks for the feedback, [member name removed]! I enjoyed meeting you and am disappointed I didn't earn your business this time. The price difference probably was because of the stripes, monochromatic color scheme, multiple colors and the quality of the paint that I included. We're usually the same price as other quality-oriented painters, and I should have been more clear that those things would increase the price when I gave you all the design and color ideas yesterday. Good luck and let me know when you're ready to paint the outside!

After finding Angie's list, setting up an account and searching for a painter, I found Paintgreen was able to handle the painting of one small bedroom in my timeframe, and Jose was absolutely top notch in all respects. He is very knowledgeable, professional, on time, very meticulous, kept me posted on progress, and made suggestions for paint choices in the future. The room looks terrific, and I have referred my friends and neighbors to Paintgreen.

Very good experience overall. Jon did our estimate and was able to help me with paint color selections. I love the colors he recommended. That was a huge help. The crew was on time, professional and did a great job. I think they might have done a bit better on clean up but overall a good experience. Oh did I mention they finished early? I liked that!

Jon and his team were very professional, knowledgeable, punctual and courteous. They worked fast and did not miss a beat. They paid attention to details and cleaned up all of their gear every night. We had a lot of space to paint and they were in and out of here in less than a week! I would highly recommend this crew and will definitely use them again in the near future.

They were great. Very professional. The house looks amazing and I am sure the results were better than if I had chosen another painting company. Bill (job manager?) and Julian (painter, foreman?), in addition to doing a great job, were also very friendly, and extremely helpful with advice about all the little details that came up along the way, and made sure that everything was done correctly with no cutting corners. I was really impressed by them. They and Jon (the owner) were also VERY patient and helpful when I was indecisive about colors. They gave me great advice and were able to change course when I decided to switch the main color I chose. I felt that they really took great care of me as a customer.

This is my second time with Paintgreen. Jon and his team are easy to work with, courteous, and trustworthy. I felt comfortable giving the team a key and leaving them to do their thing while I left for a couple of days. The work was done completely (excellent coverage where paint is supposed to be, including multiple coats over the old dark color) and neatly (no slop on edges or even one stray drop on the floor). The next time I need painting, I will return to Paintgreen.

I cannot recommend Paint Green highly enough! I just purchased a short-sale condo and it was in complete disarray! The cathedral ceilings had popcorn that was not only outdated but dirty as could be! All of the walls were disgustingly dirty as were the baseboards. I met with Jon Ray to get an estimate and to go over color choices. We ended up with 5 different colors in addition to vertical striping on two walls. They apply different sheens to give it a subtle look. The outcome is stunning! I dropped by all but one of the four days to check on the progress. I was blown away just after day one! The crew, led by Julian, took great pride in their workmanship and it truly showed! They were meticulous throughout the entire process. Bill was the Project Manager and asked me to meet him on day three to ensure everything was to my satisfaction. It was on that day that I realized I had misinterpreted what Julian and I had discussed the day prior and because of that, he had to repaint the kitchen ceiling. Not for one second did he complain! I felt so badly because they were so close to completion and now they'd have to redo what had already been painted. He kept telling me "Don't worry about it - it's no big deal!" Jon and I met on Friday for the final walk through and I couldn't believe the transformation that had taken place! My condo is absolutely gorgeous now! It's hard to imagine that it took less than one week for Jon's team to turn a disaster into a masterpiece! They left my place 1000% better than they found it in and I will be forever grateful for the level of workmanship they delivered. I cannot recommend Paint Green highly enough and can promise you that you won't find a better company to do business with in San Diego!

It went horrible. Paint Green (PG) took longer than expected to do the job and had paint from their spray go onto my new screens, which had to be replaced. They started to spray paint the ceilings, and two coats of spray paint did not provide satisfactory coverage- you could see the old paint in the living room and master bedroom ceilings. They then got an oil based primer and used rollers to put two additional coats of paint on the ceilings. The paint they used left a gloss surface on the ceiling, and they tried to get me to accept it, which I refused. They then used a proper flat finish paint on the ceilings. They did some sanding and priming on the stair railings where the paint was peeling . I was charged additional money for PG to paint the kitchen and baths, which they said were not in the contract (which was worded horribly). After the job was finally completed, I had new carpet installed. The carpet installers caused damage to the moldings around the doors on the second floor. Specifically, the paint peeled off like an onion skin here the carpet rubbed against the moldings. I complained to the carpet company who took some money off the cost of the carpet as payment for damage caused by their installers. I called Paint Green to do the paint repairs, since they had promised to return to do all touch up work after I moved in to my condo. PG initially said yes, but never showed up. I called PG several times to get them to do the repairs, but they never responded . I then was forced to hire another painter to do the repair work. My new painter informed me that PG did not properly sand, prime and paint the moldings, which is why the paint peeled off like an onion skin (I do have photos). My painter said that there was oil based paint on the moldings, and PG simply painted over them with latex paint, without the proper preparation of first sanding and priming . PG obviously cut corners, and this is not acceptable, or professional practice by any paint company. I tried to contact PG by mail, asking them to either come back and do the job properly, or refund my money. I did not receive a response in one month’s time. I then called their office, asked for the name of the CEO, and the secretary would not provide it (she had to check with her boss). The secretary later called with the name. I sent a certified letter to John Ray complaining about the peeling paint. John Ray finally responded, and met with me at my house on February 18, 2014. Ray acknowledged the peeling paint on the moldings, but he and his foreman (Bill Flowers) insisted that they sanded, and primed all areas where the paint was peeling. Flowers wanted to put an oil based primer over the moldings to “lock in “ the paint, and then repaint. I disagreed since every professional painter I spoke to said the paint either has to be removed completely, or at a minimum sanded and primed before repainting. PG insisted they did the proper preparation, but if that was true the paint would be scuffed, and would not peel. I confirmed this with several local paint companies. Ray offered to come back and do the repairs (recover with oil base and repaint), but did not want to sand or take off the existing paint; to top it off, he would charge me for the work (but give me a 15% discount). Ray said PG is not responsible for a “pre-existing condition” where latex was on oil. I refused this offer, and said: PG did not do a professional job to begin with (properly prepare the oil based paint surfaces before painting with latex), PG should have properly identified and dealt with the areas that had oil based paint before they painted, the PG contract gives a 4 year warranty on their work which they are not living up to, and I should not have to pay anything for their errors. Ray did send a email asking to meet (before I refused to pay PG for doing corrective work), and I responded by saying I could not meet that week, but I am available the following week and to let me know what day works best for him. That was about a month ago, and I have not heard from him since. I now a mess- moldings that need to have the paint removed, sanded, primed and repainted. I should not have to pay for this.

Response from PaintGreen
I'm sorry you're feeling frustrated, (member name removed). I'm frustrated with what has happened too. It took 3 different primers to solve the ceiling stain issue, but we never gave up until finding the correct solution. I understand that the job took a little longer than we expected, but the stain leaking through 2 different primers was beyond our control. As far as the peeling paint issue goes, it clearly states in the agreement that there was a pre-existing peeling paint problem. Once latex was incorrectly applied by the previous painter we had two options: either sand and strip the trim or oil-prime the trim where it was peeling to try to lock down the peeling edges. Sanding/stripping is a much larger project than oil-priming (it would have cost about double what you paid), and it's clear in the bid that you chose to have us oil-prime the bare edges. The words "sand" and "strip" do not appear anywhere in the signed agreement. My offer to fix future peeling at a deep discount (which only covers my expenses) is still good, and you're welcome to take us up on it. I can't perform thousands of dollars of work for free like you are requesting, however, when we noted the previous peeling and fulfilled our obligations to handle it how you hired us to. I'd be happy to meet again to explain everything again since there is still some confusion about what we were contracted to do. I thought I had emailed you to setup a 2nd meeting, but can't find the email now so apologize that I may have missed that.... Please call or email me if you'd like to meet again. - Jon Ray

We hired PaintGreen to re-paint most of our first floor, all of the baseboards and door trim around the house, and re-do our first floor ceilings. They did a fantastic job. Jon, the owner, was very helpful as we deliberated on color choices. The painters who worked in our home all week were polite and careful and did a good job at minimizing the stress and mess of the undertaking. I would and probably will hire them again.

A day before the appointment was to take place the provider postponed it by about 3 days. The job was done very neatly and professionally. It is warrantied for 4 years according to the contract. The cost included the purchase of supplies by the provider. The provider "threw in" the repainting of a small window ledge on the house for which I provided the paint. I believed, or had been led to believe, that this would be a two-day job. It was completed by two painters in about 5 hours -- 10 work hours, so I ultimately felt overcharged. I'm happy with the result as of now. I would consider using this provider again, but I'd get several bids first.
Description of Work: Yard fencing was re-stained. Services were performed by employees of the provider. The answer to "Would you use this provider in the future?" is neither yes nor no. It's MAYBE.

I found these guys on here and was super excited to use them. One reviewer talked about how her cabinets were painted by them and they suggested a better paint quality. I wanted them to come paint my kitchen cabinets and the walls in the kitchen. I called them about two weeks ago and left a message, right before labor day weekend. I never got a call back from them. I thought maybe the holiday meant they missed my message, so I called again on 9/9 and left another message. They are located south of me, so I wasn't sure they serviced my area, though I think there were other reviews from nearby. So I even asked them on the message if they can call to tell me they don't service my area (if that was in fact why they weren't calling me back), rather than ignore me. Well, it's more than 48 hours since I left the second message. I think that's pretty unprofessional of them to not even call and tell me they can't do the work, IF EVEN that is the reason. Maybe they just don't call people back. Too bad, I liked that they were a green company. :(

He didn't paint the interiors of the closets. The "free" color consultation was a big disappointment. The colors he recommended made the space look small, and when my real estate broker looked at the paint color she said I needed to have it re-painted. So basically their advertising about being professional colorists is not true. We called him about this and he blamed the choice of color on us. We reminded him that we are not professional colorists and that he advertises that he is. We also told him that 4 brokers told us that we were well-overcharged for that amount of wall space painted. . We talked to him about the exorbitant cost for such a small space and he said he had to run a profitable business and had to charge a mark up. He charged us a 200% mark-up profit over cost. He doesn't seem to really know anything usful about how to use color for optimal results, and he does not seem to have the talent or qualifications for presenting himself as a color consultant. So the bottom line for us was that we had to have the condo re-painted and Paintgreen ruined our interior with a poor choice of color and grossly overcharged us for it. The re-paint was done for $750.00. Paintgreen charged us $2300.00 and we are very unhappy with the company and it's work product. The thing that puzzles us is that Paintgreen got a high rating on Angie's List and we trusted that. Paintgreen's advertised image does actually seem to be a pretense, and they are outrageously over-priced. We are not happy that we paid him a 200% profit over cost, and that his choice of color made the condo look smaller than it is resulting in a new cost to us for a re-paint by a different contractor.
Description of Work: He painted a 1000 sq ft condo that has the east wall made up of floor to ceiling windows. Ryan charged us $2300.00, and given the small size of the condo and the east wall floor to ceiling windows, we were grossly overcharged. He did not paint the ceiling or the interiors of the closets. He said we would meet and I would get a free color consultation. I am not a colorist and I was counting on him to recommend colors that would make the condo look larger than it is.

You have 2 complaints: 1 - You believe that we are too expensive. 2 - You don't like the colors chosen because it made it harder to rent. 1 - We are not the cheapest painters out there, but we are often told that we are the same price as other quality oriented and legitimate contractors who don't cheat by paying cash to illegal laborers. Our price was clearly communicated before you signed the contract, and there were no changes. We did not add any fees, change-orders, extra material costs or anything. Some painters will add hidden fees and extra charges, we do not. The retail price for your paint was about $600 (we paid a bit less because we get a discount) and we spent 42.17 hours of labor on your project (our painters clock in/out using their cell phones). I'm confused by your statement, because the only way you could pay $750 for the same job is if you bought the paint yourself and hired painters at a rate of about $4/hr. We use top quality paint, hire legal workers and pay them the industry standard as well as the appropriate taxes, insurances, etc. 2 - Our certified color experts have completed a color theory course and an interior design course that was created specifically for helping homeowners choose colors. Since color is subjective we were trained to never dictate colors to our clients or tell them what colors they must use. Like any professional color consultant, we give our expert opinions, offer suggestions, show samples, show pictures, talk about what is trendy and steer every client toward colors that they pick for themselves. It clearly states on the contract you signed that there were 2 different palettes that our color expert helped you develop. First was a recommendation for one neutral color to make it easier to rent and cheaper to paint, and the other was for a personalized palette with more bold colors. You chose the more bold option and stated how happy you were with it when we finished.

I could not have been happier with the job Paintgreen did for me. Chad explained the entire process I could expect and delivered! Bill, the product manager was wonderful and I loved having him around. His crew was efficient and friendly. I work from home and hardly knew they were there. We left an inquiry with Paintgreen via their website and having heard nothing for two days, contacted them directly. The owner answered the phone and when we mentioned the non-responsiveness he apologized profusely and scheduled a time to come out the next day to take a look and provide us an estimate. He came out the next day (Friday) and walked through what we wanted done. He said our timing was perfect because he was looking to fill up the next week and they could start right away, and he'd send us a quote that afternoon. Mid-day Saturday we still hadn't received the quote and wanted to be responsive to their immediate availability so we sent him a note asking for status. That afternoon he replied back with the quote. We talked it over and decided to move forward, and replied that evening asking about scheduling. We didn't hear anything Sunday, so we called Monday afternoon to find out what was going on. We learned that the owner had been in the hospital for a couple days (seriously unfortunate!) but he still thought they could get the work done that week and he'd have his business partner follow up with us immediately. Wednesday afternoon, having heard nothing since our last call to them, we sent a note indicating we decided to go with a different painting contractor.
Description of Work: We selected several painters via Angie's List and were keen to go with Paintgreen due to the reviews we read. We nearly had them start work despite having responsiveness issues initially, but even the start was delayed without explanation and we had to follow-up again just to learn there was a scheduling problem. Fearing this would be symptomatic of the entire engagement, we decided to go with another contractor.
