They gave me a not-to-exceed price. I hired four people instead of two. So I was going to pay more so I could get the job done in half day rather than a full day. It took them all day. They just were really slow and then the four guys that were working, wouldn't finish unless I gave them $100 cash each. So I didn't have that, so I put more on the ATM card and then they didn't finish anyway. The company wouldn't give me my money back unless I signed all these forms that I wouldn't call Better Business Bureau or take them to court or whatever. So I never even followed up on that. While I was gone, I was wondering why they kept me there for so long because it should have been half a day. I had a friend watching the house and he said, "If you have to leave, just leave the sliding door open." When I got home my house was robbed. All the doors were open. I think that's why they kept me there. It was just a horrible, horrible day. The original cost was about $950, that's what they quoted me. We were moving from a four-bedroom to a two-bedroom. So only about a third of the stuff was going. It just took them all day. Then they just pulled off somewhere to have lunch. I couldn't find them. I still hadn't shown them where I was going. So I had to drive all over to find the truck. They were just really rude. They were horrible. One guy was just so intimidating. I was afraid when he was saying he won't finish. Then they left my shelf on the truck. I never got that back. I got charged $375 to replace the shelf. I had to add $400 and then it was $375 to replace the shelf and then they left my beautiful planter. I had a $200 two-tiered planter with all these professional flowers in it. They didn't take that off so I could not list it so it got stolen. They just left it there. They left a couple of other things. I mean, they got their money and did not finish anyway. When I got home my computer was gone. That was $1700. My jewelry was gone. Farmers wouldn't give me $300 for the computer because I couldn't find the receipt. So I lost $1500 there. They were just mean and horrible. It was bad. They dinged my furniture. They were not polite. They basically stole from me. They didn't completely unload the truck. My antique shelf was in there. I was already in tears when I got home. When I called management all I got was this 8 page legal thing to sign. I couldn't even deal with it.
Description of Work: I used them for moving.

If you value your furniture and household goods, beware of 1 STOP MOVING & STORAGE! or at least be sure to obtain the maximum amount of insurance. On the day of the move, five men arrived in an older moving van which had apparently undergone a bad paint job to remove signs of a prior owner and was further decorated with graffiti. With five people moving through our home, it was difficult to keep track of what was going on, however not a piece of stretch wrap was in sight. Sofas suffered damage ranging from dirty hand prints to the fabric (velvet) being "pinched". Several antique desks and table tops were damaged with gouges and scratches. The lacquered finish on a tortoiseshell chair was chipped and an antique, hand-painted porcelain lamp (one of a pair) was irreparably damaged before even leaving the house. Throughout, the moving crew apparently had one thing in mind: to get in and out as fast as possible, stuffing the truck in total disregard for the careful handling and care of our goods. Finally, the packers who boxed the smaller items failed to label the box contents with the result we spent hours trying to locate things. We have since been trying to settle an insurance claim with 1 Stop Moving through their agent, CSI, a nightmare process and in the end worthless. We believe we followed the claim instructions clearly, providing a total of 20 photos including close-up photos of damage. They offered a ridiculous settlement of $ 114 (one hundred and fourteen) with the proviso that we sign a consent form not to publicize any negative comments about 1 Stop Moving. We have declined their settlement offer.
Description of Work: We contracted with 1 Stop Moving & Storage to pack and move our household furnishings to a new residence, a distance of about three miles. Elad Bukovza, the owner, provided an estimate and during his visit we specifically requested that all upholstered furniture be shrink-wrapped. We were assured that every care would be taken and all furniture securely protected. Prior to the move, two packers came to pack items such as art work, mirrors, etc. We discussed insurance with Mr. Bukovza and were advised that a complete inventory of all items to be transported would be required for full insurance coverage. Because of the time frame, such an undertaking would have been near impossible, so given the assurances we received and the short distance to be traveled, we opted for minimum insurance coverage.

The provider broke my chair beyond repair and my table saw / jointer also beyond repair and refused to take responsibility for the damages they caused. The broken chair was discovered upon delivery and was sent back with the truck because I was told they had a repairman that could fix it. After he saw it, he said he could not fix it. I tried to use the saw about two weeks later and then found the broken parts when the saw did not work properly. Upon close inspection I found scrape marks on the motor constant with it being dropped on a hard surface such as the steel truck lift gate on the truck. The weight of the saw would have put extreme pressure on the chassis causing the cast iron to crack. It is cracked in three places and can no longer be used. The One Stop rep assigned to my claim is Ken. Ken has told me on several occasions he wants to resolve my claim and asked me for a figure. I gave him one and he was going to the owner to get approval. It has been over two weeks since then and as yet no reply.
Description of Work: Picked up my household goods including heavy machinery ,wood working tools, and moved them to a storage unit where they added them to existing stored property. So far so good. I witnessed this the first part of the move and every thing went smoothly. The second part of the move came after about six weeks of storage while my house was being built. When my belongings were delivered to my new house, the truck they used was smaller then the one they said they would have to use because of the extra furnishings already in storage which meant the truck was crammed full and not carefully loaded. This resulted is furniture and machinery being broken. One of my set of six Drexel Heritage dining room chairs was broken beyond repair, according to the One Stop repair person. My professional quality cast iron table saw / jointer was dropped and motor mount on both the saw and the motor were cracked now the saw is out of alignment and the method needed to weld it back to usable condition would be very expensive if it could even be done. The offer from their claim department was $12.00 f,or a $300.00 chair and the saw offer was even more ridiculous. They based the worth of the saw at $.12 per pound. Their department stated the weight to be 50 pounds. Actual weight is around 400 pounds. The claim settlement company had pictures of the chair and the saw. Clearly they were not dealing in good faith. The law concerning bailment, the degree of care required by a company taking a fee for transporting property, would require the transporting company to exercise a high degree of care and not some fine print $.12 per pound remedy for damage they created thru careless handling. I have written to both their claim company and One Stop requesting them to make a good faith offer and to date have not received any such offer.

The salesman was very good. The men who moved me said he was new so maybe he didn't know of his owners practices. My daughter had come with my grandchildren to help me with the move since I had recently had surgery and was still under Dr.'s orders. The plan was to help the day before to get packed. The next day she and the girls would help me unpack the heave items after the movers had finished. sSe needed to leave around four pm (it is a four hour drive home) but stayed until the movers arrived. She and the girls witnessed the ordeal the owner put me through and were reluctant to leave but on my insistence they did. 20 minutes later she returned. She would rather lose a day of work than leave me so upset and with so much to do. The men who actually moved me were very kind and did a good job.
Description of Work: Horrendous! The owner of the company is unscrupulous, takes advantage of not only his clients but also his workers. It was the worse move I’ve ever had. They changed my start time more than once, the first being the night before. They didn’t arrive till 5:45pm. I was given the contract to sign. It said they would pay me 60 CENTS PER POUND for any damage. So if they dropped a 50 inch TV you get, well, not enough to replace a pillow. When I questioned this, the mover called his boss, the owner. When I continued to be unhappy he asked if I wanted to get another mover. I had to be out that night so someone else could move in the next day. It was not really an option and he knew it. The owner told his movers not to move me unless I paid the minimum FOUR hours (earlier I had been told it wasthree hours) up front. I signed, paid and they moved. I didn’t have a choice. They could not finish the job that night. I had a very large and heavy piece of furniture that was difficult to get through the stairs which I had been honest about when contracting this moving company. I was told it would not be a problem. “If someone got it in We Can get it out.” They had to come back the next day and bring extra men to do the job. The owner called and said he had a full schedule so they would have to get to it when they could. I told him someone else was moving in that day and it had to be moved now (like they promised the previous night). He told me the other people would just have to wait. I told him He needed to start being his word. Finally he said he would send 4 men within the hour. Did I hit a nerve? Who knows? However, he did charge me $60.00 more (upfront of course). L. Hogan

The overall experience was outstanding! The movers were very gracious and helpful and did a great job. The price was very fair, and their quality, responsiveness and punctuality were all very good. They were very courteous and wore uniform t-shirts. I would absolutely hire this company in the future.
