Description of Work: Replaced my entire front lawn with mulch and native SoCal plants. Also installed a gravel pathway with three steps. Added river rocks to match my existing landscape. Excellent job overall. An unexpected cost was the turf removal that he contracted out to another person, but it worked out well.

Description of Work: Wes and his helper placed the mulch in our yard, came up with a planting design for the space, and planted all the plants. Wes is really responsive and was exactly the kind of person we wanted to work with. Lots of other landscape designers we contacted used the terms "native" and "drought-tolerant" interchangeably. We really wanted truly native plants in our yard since they are supposed to be better for pollinators and require even less upkeep than merely drought-tolerant non-natives. North Park Native Plants provides excellent service at very reasonable prices.

We are extremely pleased with our finished backyard! We planted in mid- to late-November and our plants have already doubled in size from the recent rains. It's nice to have many of the same plants in our backyard as we see when hiking in the nearby canyons. Wes is direct and honest, which made the design process easy, as he quickly identified parts of our concept that needed adjustment. He was also able to figure out a convenient solution for re-building a section of fence on a tricky retaining wall and incorporate the pre-existing fence design to keep costs down. Wes was very communicative throughout the project, making sure we knew when and how each step was to be completed. His style is definitely more "wild" than most landscapers I've dealt with in the past, which matched our concept perfectly. We were hoping for a backyard that would grow to blend with the adjoining property; it should grow to that point over the next year or two. The project went so smoothly that our next door neighbor hired him to landscape their front yard the week after we finished!
Description of Work: Our project included: - Demolition of old patio cover/fence. - Removal of materials. - Construction and painting of new fencing. - Landscaping (detailed below) Our backyard design consists of a central area of decomposed granite (play area for our toddler and seating area for a picnic table) with an informal outer border of river rock that surrounds our native plants. The ground below the plants is covered by shredded redwood mulch. The plant list includes: - Louis Edmunds manzanita - Franciscan manzanita - Cleveland sage - Munz's sage - White sage - California buckwheat - Ashy-leaf buckwheat - Giant buckwheat - Coast sunflower - San Diego sunflower - California fuschia - Bladderpod - Lemonade berry - San Bruno Coffeeberry - Pink-flowered currant - White-flowered currant - Lilac - Chaparral mallow

He was a real nice guy and he gave us a lot of references for us to go and see his work, but his type of work was not what we needed done. He seemed like a really nice person.
Description of Work: He gave us an estimate for some landscaping.

Wes was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. In the two hours he spent with us, he gave us lots of great information, and tips on how we could do this work ourselves. We also talked about landscape design ideas for our yard, types of plants that would work well, and other factors to consider (ie. how to get rid of invasive plants currently in the ground). We opted to have him draw up plans for the yard, and he spent over an hour taking detailed measurements of the dimensions. They also do landscape installation, but we really appreciated being able to save some money and do this work ourselves, while still getting the benefit of his knowledge on plant types and locations. If you are at all interested in reducing the amount of water you use in your yard, and/or using native plants in landscaping, I highly recommend North Park Native Plants.
Description of Work: Landscaping consultation (A clinic on how to prepare the ground, what materials to use, and how to plant native plants), and Landscape Design (Drawing up lans for the yard with the choices of native plants and their location indicated).
