On July 27, 2020 I contracted Niche Builders Group @BuildersNiche to paint my home exterior, remodel my master bath and replace my windows and doors. They completed those projects December 7, 2020. My advice to any potential customers, run do not walk away from this uniquely horrible contractor (I will never trust @AngiesList again). Better yet run, jump in your car and drive at top speed to the airport and get on the fastest plane just to get away from Niche Builders. Well the painting went OK except the crew did not care at for my landscaping. The new sod I had just had placed was extremely damaged. When I complained about the lawn one of the managers, Tom, just pretty much said oh well it happens. I can understand that there may be damaged but this crew seemed to go out of their way to do as much damage as possible. I will make sure @Texcote know what a bad representative Niche Builders Group is for them. I had to spend several hundred dollars to fix the damage. Next I was told that my bath remolded would take 9 days. Well 2 1/2 months later they completed the project. I pick out some expensive tiles from @ArizonaTile. I believe Niche Builders Group may have hired the tile crew from out front of Home Depot or Loews. They demolished the bath and left all the debris including the old bathtub and toilet in my garage. The debris stayed in my garage for days even after I asked it to be removed. Finally I just had to removed about 10 heavy bags from my garage and the old toilet and wait for the garbage truck so that I could dump it all by myself. After I did all that one of the project managers (obviously he was just a sales rep) said I should have told him, well I had told him and I do not think I should have had to ask in the first place. Then their Home Depot/Lowes tile crew were just a disaster. I was working from home and they were continuously yelling back and forth at each other, running up and down the stairs when I was trying to work. The tile crew was not good at all, the did a bad job lining up the tiles, the cuts were not straight and they ended up wasting expensive tiles (I plan to send a review to @arizonatile as well). There was a half attempt to correct the errors but there is nothing they can do to fix the uneven cuts, sloppy finish and poor spacing. I paid $14k for work that could have been done better by a handyman and would have cost a lot less. Unless the tile I selected cost $13k I did not get my money’s worth for the work they did. Also that same manager, Tom, asked me if I can live with the work since they are not able to correct their poor job. He said he would give me a discount on my windows since I was not completely satisfied with the bath remodel work. Well of course I did not get that discount on the windows. Now about the @Simonton windows that Niche Builders Group installed in my house. Again, I will make sure @Simonton is aware of what a horrible representative Niche Builders Group is for Simonton products. First let’s start with the fact that we signed the work order for the windows at the end of July and I told them to leave on December 7 without finishing the projects (I was able to find out the first window crew they used took all the measurements but just stopped communicating to Niche. I am pretty sure that is the reason for the delay and they just did not want to tell me, they just blamed it on COVID). Obviously that is just a ridiculous amount of time to replace window but that is not the only issue. I ordered 12 windows, 2 sliding doors opening left to right, 1 french door and privacy glass added to the two bathroom windows and the skinny front entry window all without grids. So on October 24, the crew came to the house, they let me know that my windows are being picked up and asked if they could start removing the windows and I said yes. When the windows arrived I was told that french doors I ordered was not in, so instead the placed one of the sliders where the french door was to go and they would not take out one of the other solder for now. Of course hearing that the french door was not ordered was disappointing but then I noticed one of the windows that were to be installed and they had grids. I specifically directed Niche Builders Group not to order windows with grids because I really do not like grids in windows. Well all but the two bathroom windows came with grids, only 2 out of 12 windows they order and placed in my house were what I ordered. But it does not stop there, they also for some extremely stupid reason order my front room picture window to have privacy glass. I literally had to open my front door to see outside my house, I could not just look out the window like a normal person. Then I had ordered 2 sliding patio doors without grids that open left to right but I got two sliding doors with grids that open right to left. I called the “project manager” right away to let them know of this issues. A bunch of them came around including that Tom guy to somehow convince me to take the windows and they will not charge me extra for the grids. So here I am explaining to them that I specifically told the NO GRIDS and for the sliders to open LEFT to RIGHT and all they did was to look at me like I was the problem. So we get into an argument to a point where I had to raise my voice and tell them they need to leave my house NOW! I also told them that I will not pay a dime for windows I did not order, and their employee in an angry tone tells me that they will just place a lien on my house. I told them to try and closed the door in their faces. So 16 days later on 11/10 they let me know that they can come out and replace the glass in the windows so that there are no grids. I let them do that and then I saw the finish work, it looked a mess. I still don’t believe the warranty on the windows will hold up because of the bad work they did. Also they said that they will be by 11/11 to pick up the windows with the grid that they left on the side of my house, they picked up those windows on 11/14. There was also touch up work on the windows that needed to be done but did not take place until 11/20. In addition, I still have not received my warranty for the Simonton windows. 12/4 I was told that someone was coming by to show me selections for a front entry door but instead I get a visit the DSM and “Quality Manager”. The DSM offered $275 off each window, keep in mind the manager named Tom told me that if the windows are not completely installed in 2 days that I did not have to pay. Well it was more than 2 days but now they are saying he did not say that. I explained that their other employee Omar was standing there when Tom said it but they did not care, I guess I must be the liar. On 12/7 they miraculous found two sliders that open left to right w/o grids, I let them installed those doors and said that is it. I do not want to buy my entry door from them and that I will purchase the french doors elsewhere and I will have that company install the french door and moved the slider upstairs since I know Niche Builders Group is not capable to do that correctly. That is most of the problems with Niche Builders Group, there were more issues not to mention that they will never tell you the truth about anything. Even names of employees and there titles seem to be sketchy. If I had to give stars, I would give then 1 out of 5 and that one star is for the office manager who was helpful they could use more employees like her. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM NICHE BUILDERS GROUP!!!!!!
