From the onset, his appearance, the professionalism. The way he conducted himself when he was here doing the quotes. He asked questions, suggesting things due to colors. The other people i checked out did not do these things. Bells and braces. No issues. I had a handyman who did some work, and he made suggestions on work. So before doing anything he always asked if it was ok.

Five contractors gave estimates for our job and we liked Matt Licata Painting the most. When he came to give out an estimate, he paid attention to the smallest detail! His quote was not the cheapest one, but very comparable. Matt Licata team was professional and took time to make things perfectly. They were really nice persons and showed up exactly on time. At the end of the day, they cleaned up the job site. No complaints, just praise.

I called Matt after reading positive online reviews, and we set up an estimate over the phone for a Monday afternoon. He showed up right on time, and it took about a half hour to go over everything. After laying out what I had in mind, he gave some pointers and advice based on his professional opinion, which I appreciated. My first impression was that he's polite & very detail-oriented, and asked about things I honestly hadn't thought of or noticed before. He gave me a rough estimate of about $2,000 +/- depending on if I wanted to include doors as well (I eventually declined doing all of the doors). Since I work out of town during the week, I arranged to have a lock box with a key inside so his crew could have access during the week. I left a check and a few special instructions in an envelope, but other than that Matt was pretty much on autopilot and I trusted him to make judgement calls on anything that came up, as I was "in the field" for work and not able to answer my phone for long chunks of time. He called the weekend before work started to go over a few lose ends, and called with an update as the job was coming to an end. I finally came home a few days later and I couldn't be happier with the final product. I hadn't realized how poor my last paint job was until I saw the results of his work. It's seamless, even, and very well done in all aspects. In addition, you wouldn't have known people had been working there all week if it wasn't for the different colored walls, they cleaned up after themselves very well. The final cost came out to $2,150.00, and that extra $150 was only because I had asked last-minute to paint some cabinet doors that weren't included in the initial estimate. I hire contractors based more on reputation & results more than who can give me the lowest estimate, and in this instance I was pleased with both the result and the cost. No complaints, nothing but praise.

We cannot say enough about Matthew. He is knowledgeable, efficient, personable, punctual, and a good worker. Though not the lowest, his price was very reasonable compared to the other quotes we got. We are very busy and appreciate getting a response ASAP. Matthew actually answers his phone! We never were frustrated in communicating with him. We highly reccommend him.

I have used Matt and his crew before and was pleased from my 1st experience that I called them again. I had a leak in my upstairs shower and it leaked into my dinning room ceiling . I had someone come out and fix the leak but they had to cut a hole in the dinning room ceiling and my bedroom wall. The contractor did a bad job of patching and texturing the ceiling an the wall. I contacted Matt to see if he could fix the patches and retexture and paint. Matt and his crew did an awesome job of retexturing. You cannot even tell where they cut the holes. I also had 3 bathrooms painted along with the dinning room ceiling and the bedroom wall. I am very pleased with Matt and his crew, the know what they are doing. I would used then again and would recommend them!!!

Angie's list did it again. I could not have asked for a better painting experience. From the beginning Matt was extremely responsive and professional. We were able to set-up a time the same week for him to come give us a bid and while he wasn't the least expensive out of the three that we received I could tell that the quality of his team's work would be worth the extra money. Their work is flawless and Matt hires some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I immediately felt comfortable with them in our home and knew I was dealing with professionals when they showed up right on time. Matt was very understanding when we decided to switch up the colors in the bedroom when we realized that the lighting made it look purple. There was an extra charge, but it was extremely fair considering that they had already completed 3/4 of the room. The workers even put an extra coat of paint in the hallway because they weren't quite satisfied with how it turned out (it looked perfect to me). This company goes above and beyond with their attention to detail and I would recommend them to anyone. I know who I'll be calling the next time we need a fresh coat of paint!

Matt and his team were great. They showed up on time and ready to work, kept the job site clean, and finished a quality job quickly and efficiently. He wasn't the lowest bid but his price was reasonable and in the end, I felt I got a great deal because he didn't cut any corners and his work was quality through and through. He even found a few places around the house that weren't in the bid but needed a little touch up and painted those for free.

I would highly recommend and use Matt Licata again. Matt and his brother did a fantastic job on our condo in Solana Beach. Fair price, finished on-time, left everything clean and best of all, there were no hassles or problems!

Matt did a great job and they were in and out within two days. Workspace was kept very neat overnight and once they were done, you couldn't even tell that they had been there other than my walls looks so nice!! Scheduling was timely and they worked within my schedule to get it done.

Matt and his brother arrived on time. They prepared to paint and proceeded to paint. I, unfortunately, forgot to remove the blinds in my kitchen nook. They kindly helped me. I felt very comfortable with them and they were professional.

Matt, his brother, Chris, and their crew were terrific to work with. I had originally purchased the Angie's List 'Painter for a Week' deal which resulted in part of our interior home getting painted. We really liked the end result so we decided to get the rest of the house painted. I obtained bids from other companies (Angie's List contractors) since this was a big project, but I told Matt I would give him the final bid since we liked his work. One thing that impressed me is that Matt was the only contractor who called to follow up on his quote-that says a lot about his professionalism. Matt's bid was competitive and since I knew they did great work, we went with them. The job started on time and they were punctual every day. We would have the rooms they were going to paint that day cleared out (including the closets) and Matt and his crew would move the heavier furniture. I am EXTREMEMLY picky on paint lines and these guys do great lines on their painting. I had several accent color walls and their lines between colors are terrific. We also had our baseboards painted and they look like new. Matt and his crew were wonderful to work with. The walls, ceilings and baseboards look fantastic!! I have had a lot of experience with contractors doing home projects over the years--and this is one of the best, problem free experiences I have ever had. When it comes to painting the exterior of our home in a couple of years, I will definitely be contacting Matt again. We highly recommend Matthew Licata Painting.

He did a wonderful job over and above. He did an excellent job. It ended up being more work than what the hours were allotted for but he completed the job anyway and did a great job. It had 15-foot walls and he got up there and did a wonderful job. I would highly recommend them and encourage anyone to definitely use him.

It went. They were very friendly and punctual. They were very knowledgeable. They were very tidy when they did the work.

I found Matt and his coworker very efficient and professional. They repaired a small hole in the ceiling and painted over it, even though it wasn't part of the paint service. They cleaned the room up very well and moved all the furniture for me. I would recommend them again. My error was not asking to have the base boards painted, so it looked a little shabby. I sould have liked if they recommended that to me.

We evaluated multiple painting companies that we found through the Better Business Bureau. We weren't looking for the cheapest possible job, we wanted the BEST. Our 1918 Craftsman-Style Bungalow is the home we want to live in for the rest of our lives, and we love it like a member of the family. I wanted to do the painting and prep-work myself, but I have developed a severe allergy to wood-dust, so no sanding for me. After discussion we decided to hire Matthew's crew. Form the very first visit they had our full approval. The crew was very professional, friendly, stayed in communication, and showed up promptly (or called and rescheduled when it was unavoidable).I was in the loop at all times, which was my preference. If there was a question about color, prep-work, or personal preferences of any kind, I was asked, and LISTENED to. I noticed that the questions always had to do with making the final result better. No apparent interest in making the process cheaper, faster or cutting corners. They were dedicated to a superb result. As an entrepreneur for almost 33 years (I'm the highest-rated Certified Apple Consultant on earth, by quite a bit, according to Apple's Web site), I recognize a passion for excellence when I see it. When they were given the final payment, they stayed around a long time afterward, just detailing the house in every area. Even the places that a sharp-eyed observer wouldn't easily notice. I am serious - It's the same quality of work you see on the buildings on Main Street at Disneyland. Creamy-smooth and impeccable. Every time we see our home, we see a classic building that looks LOVED, like those Victorian houses in downtown San Diego that have been converted into lawyer's offices. I'm sure our property-values went way up, and oh, the neighbors have noticed. We've gladly referred several of our favorite neighbors to Matthew, and will continue to do so. In a culture that doesn't always take the time to appreciate craftsmanship, it's a joy to find kindred spirits who know the difference between Cost and Value.

Got the $999 coupon that required me to purchase the paint. Had to delay calling him due to really hot weather and getting the OK on the body color from my HOA. As stated above, the job was for a 40 year old mobile home that had not been painted before. Most of the trim still looked good since it is white but the body was really unevenly faded and I decided to concentrate on the body of the house. Once I contacted him he let me know what preparation had to be done before he came and we set a date that had to be delayed due to rain. When he came, he brought 3 other people with him so the job was done in 1 day. He only needed a few questions answered and went to work. The body of the house required two coats. It looks great and they did wonderful work around the fixtures that could not be removed. They were quite, neat and very professional. I have had compliments from my neighbors. One neighbor, who built his own place years ago and has dealt with paints and painting for years , complimented me on their professionalism and cleanliness. It's true. I did not have to clean up one thing.

I have used Matt before and even though someone else gave me a very inexpensive quote I went with Matt because I have seen his quality of work. He is a perfectionist which I love! You cannot tell there was a repair done! It's been great working with him! He leaves everything spotless. He even rehung a ceiling fan at no extra cost. I will definitely use him again!

I called Matt Licata based on his "A" reviews on Angie's List. He picked up when I called the number provided and was able to set up an estimate that very day. He took his time with me going through the house and looking at what we needed to be done and what we wanted to hold off on. He gave great suggestions and even told me ways to keep the price down. He agreed to mud/skip trowel areas that needed touchups and mud/paint a new wall that we had put up. He also agreed to paint all of the ceilings/walls and trim. (Appx 1600 sqft of work) I also explained to him that we were under a time crunch to get walls and floors done before we moved in. He stated he would work with our scheduling concerns. Matt and his crew started at 8am the following Monday. We left a key in the lock box so never had to take time off of work to meet him. If he had any questions (e.g. Matt - "Hey, would you like me to sand down these cabinets while I am working on them? It would make them close better - no cost." - Me... "Sure!") he would contact me by phone/text. Whenever we got back to the house after work, everything was spotless. He was very careful with our hardwood floors and all of his lines were excellent. He took the necessary time to tape and drape everything. At the end of this joyous experience, he called to tell me he and the crew were all finished. He told me to do a walk through and if there was "anything at all" that wasn't perfect, to call him and he would come take care of it. I saw a very small area that was not "perfect" so I called him. He worked around the other contractors (we had moved on to floors by that point) that were in the home and fixed the problem. We moved in this past weekend and couldn't be happier. I love the fresh clean walls. We will definitely be using Matt Licata for our future projects (exterior of home, fences, etc.) and I will recommend him to anyone that needs anything done. I contacted Matthew Licata Painting Services based on the reviews posted on Angie's List. I schedule Matt (owner) to come out to my house and provide an estimate. After the initial walk through and a detailed discussion about the scope of the project, Matt provided an a verbal estimate and followed up with a detailed written proposal. IMPORTANT: There was no difference between the verbal estimate and the final proposal. I found the initial estimate and the written proposal to be extremely competitive and a great value. If you're looking for the lowest cost painter, you can probably find someone cheaper. However, if you're looking for a topnotch, professional, honest, quality painting company that is insured, has employees vs. contractors and stands behind their work, I highly recommend Matthew Licata Painting. Matt and his team are professional, have years of experience and do great work!

They were very professional and diligent.

on day one... his crew pressure washed my entire site for 3 hours next day was Paint day #1... 2 men [Abel and Chris Licatta] worked all day prepping [sanding + masking] the site.. with lots of ''window trim detail'' some window trim painting was begun.. 3 small areas needed ''bondo repair'' of wood damage Paint Day #2... 3 of them finished prepping and sanding, then painted the rest of the day Paint Day #3 3 of them painted all morning..... and some ''finish caulking'' to smooth a very few areas of my contractors alum trim installation that needed '''gap filling'' finished the job mid Afternoon... took 2 hours to clear tools, clean up site... finish last of ''final detail on trim the 3 of them were easily worth the extra $200 tip I gave them I was very very pleased at their quality of work, their work ethics and incredible attention to detail of my job I will hire Licatta Painting again in the spring, as new construction in the forward part of our yard and house will be ready to paint by about March 2013 I would recommend Licatta Painting Services to anyone needing a high quality, very competitive painter.. call me if you wish... or even visit this Canyon Rim home job site anytime you are considering hiring Licatta Painting Services easy to find my house off of Moraga Avenue.. just up the hill from Balboa Avenue call me first ed greene [Owner] 619-846-6683
