He showed up on time. Carefully assessed the area. Knowledgeable and prepared with materials to discuss and help make decisions on a plant list. Polite and listened to my preferences.

It was a very good experience. They were a little expensive but I got my money's worth. They are very responsible and very professional. They were here at 7:00 every morning.

He was very responsive, on time, exceeded my expectations. Worked quickly made recommendations and worked directly with me real time to make decisions. It took a shorter time than I anticipated as he was so knowledgeable and collaborative. I enjoyed the time we spent working on the project and I learned a lot in the process. I would highly recommend him, I don't see how you could go wrong or find a more pleasant person to work with.

I only had vague ideas of how I wanted the landscaping in my yard to look after I bought my house with very basic landscaping. I knew I wanted low maintenance, colorful, drought tolerant plants. Steven brought pictures and books of various plantings, and used his vast knowledge of landscape design to advise on which plants would do well, given the amount of sunlight, and keeping in mind my desire for low maintenance. We also discussed cobble stone placement as well. The final plan included a list of plants, scale, and placement of everything. My yard is not very big, and he provided me with a list of landscapers who are experts in smaller jobs.

Thank you for all of your ideas and for the detailed plant-o-gram that you sketched out for us. You made a task that seemed daunting at the beginning, into something where we saw light at the end of the tunnel. I wish that the City of San Diego Turf Replacement department was as responsive and efficient as you were!

My consultation with Steven Letz greatly exceeded my expectations about could be accomplished in just a two hour session. Because of his creativity and knowledge of plants, he was able to completely design a front yard that will be less thirsty and much, much more attractive than what we've had. Using our preferred color palette, he selected and sited plants, suggested replacement hardscaping, and solved the design problems of our entrance-way courtyard. We now have a very detailed plan that can be submitted to the contractors he recommended we get bids from. He gets our highest recommendation!

I bought a $150 big deal for this service and he was a good guy. I upgraded the service when he was here. He was a very personable person, was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable.

Steven Letz is a master of his craft and we ABSOLUTELY were happy with his services and suggestions. He began by getting a feel for our vision for the space and how we might want to utilize different areas of the yard. He truly listens to your desires and plans. He took our original ideas and enhanced what we were looking for. In the end we had something very similar to how we wanted to use the space, but it was way better with his suggestions. He really strives to keep true to what you envision, but then the process evolves into a very amazing sketch and design. As far as knowledge of plant material and landscaping, he is masterful and very organized. You give him a specific idea for a plant such as coloring, width, height, hardiness, maintenance, etc. and he will find you a picture and a name of a plant/flower that was almost as if he climbed into your mind and pulled the image out himself. We received a wonderful scale size sketch of a plan with suggested planting materials and landscape design. We are very happy with the time and service. Steve' s commitment to the customer' s stated needs translated directly into his design. We saw EXACTLY what was discussed in the plan ; he is also careful about pointing out pros and cons of various aspects (materials, plants, usage, maintenance, etc.) and provided samples and pictures to illustrate the ideas we discussed. He is easy to work with and continues to be a resource for ideas and troubleshooting. We are delighted with the design and it has been embraced by our neighbors as well. We have been grateful for his thoughtful and comprehensive support in our water wise landscaping transition.

Steve designs the landscaping and helps line up the landscaping company to do the work. His plans were detailed and helpful in depicting what we wanted. The landscaping companies found the plans helpful as well. Steve was present to see how the work was progressing and followed up with us via email and phone calls. All and all we were very happy with his work.

I found him on Angie's List and he has been out several times. He is very responsive to emails and is good at giving suggestions. Steven provided thorough land drawings and a list of plans for me to research. He is open to me going to take pictures of the different kinds of fencing or plants I was interested in and then looking them up. He would get with his landscape nursery resources so I could find out where to locate the plants. Steven is extraordinarily thorough and responsive not only to my needs but my preferences as well. It does not matter if it is a big or small project, he really enjoys helping people do what they want; no matter the size of the project. He is very detail oriented, thorough and generous with his time. We are finalizing our contract now.

My wife and I have been talking about re-landscaping our yard for several years. We could never decide on what we wanted or what would look best in our yard. We wanted a plan that would add some hardscape to our yard but we would still have some drought tolerant plants, tress, and grass. We live on the rim of a canyon and have a huge problem with gophers. The work is currently being completed by San Diego Paverscape (July 2012). Luis Vindel and his crew are bringing Stephen's plan to life. Steven met with us three times to help develop the plan and really hear our ideas and concerns. We really did not know what we were doing and without this plan the work would have never been completed. One of the great things about having a plan is when your contact people to bid on the work they know what you want and then you really have an "apples to apples" bid. Steven's final plan was complete and incorporated things that my wife and I wanted in the yard. Steven created a yard (front and back) that looks great, is drought tolerant and even has plants that the gophers do not like as much as others. I was very pleased with the design plan Letz Design Landscape came up with for my lawn. They have good design sense and they did an excellent job with my backyard. I was happy with the results and I would recommend them.

We had an excellent experience with Steven. He was very professional and knowledgeable. You can tell that landscape design is more to him than a profession. Steven was punctual, communicated very well, provided excellent ideas and a design that transformed our 1970's flat grass yard into a beautiful natural landscape that is by far the best looking yard in the neighborhood. Steven was very patient with our talkative daughter and even brought her a succulent plant for our final meeting. I knew that trying to design my own landscape would have ended in disaster, from drainage problems, to purchasing wrong plants and materials, planting in wrong locations, and not ending up with a good finished product. From my experience I believe there is real value in hiring a professional to design your landscaping. I highly recommend Steven if you are considering hiring a professional landscape designer.

We found Steve's services to be an excellent value and he helped to significantly increase our knowledge and comfort level with our project. Having met with 4 designers Steve was a stand out and we are extremely pleased that we chose him to support us. We LOVE the design he did for us and we are in the process now of getting contractor quotes to move forward. Steve handled a few particulars (speaking with the city on our behalf to understand regulations in our unique area for example) which were very important to us and we appreciate it. Steve developed a good, visually pleasing, site appropriate design which met our concept of eye catching, low maintenance, and drought resistant landscaping for the front yard and backyard planter. He was very cordial, professional, and responsive. Steve listened well to our ideas, made changes to meet our budget, recommeded suitable contractors, called to check on progress after the plan went to the landscapers, and stopped by later to see the finished project which we admired together. A few glitches in the design were: some discrepancies in the plant list, unspecified heights of the flagstone steps, and lack of weed control mesh under the bark. We've received many compliments from the neighbors and do like the new, finished look!

We recently purchased a bank owned home that looked like a jungle! We knew we wanted everything gone but feel overwhelmed and hopeless trying to figure out our weird yard. I am a review fanatic and found Steve here on Angies List. He lived up to every expectation that I had and more. He listened to what we wanted and gave us opinions and advice. We have 2 dogs that love to run around, so we wanted somewhat durable plants, he did that. I wanted a county/secret garden theme as opposed to tropical since that is all what San Diego is. He did that. And they layout is beautiful. Never in a million years would we have been able to produce or even think up the layout that we have. He is very responsive and accomadating. If you need a landscape arcitect, he is your man!

Everything went smoothly and professionally. Steve is a well-educated landscape architect who is personable and adaptable. He makes wonderful suggestions for San Diego landscapes and is always trying to find the best drought resistant plants. We found him to be perfect and I have recommended him to several other people who are considering re-doing their landscapes.

Steven is wonderful to work with, personable and knowledgeable and calm. He listens to your ideas, offers competent advice and makes the whole experience relaxing and worry-free. The plans he drew for us were exactly what we were looking for; he saved what he could from the old landscape, but added just the right new materials to pull everything together in cohesively designed way. He also has a list of installers with whom he's worked and trusts, and we chose one of them to do the actual installation. Steven remained available throughout the process to answer questions and offer advice and solutions. We'd use him again in a heartbeat.

Steve was very professional and knowledgeable. I provided him with a general idea of what I was looking to do and my approximate budget. He created a design that met my request and can be implemented all at once or phased in over time. He recommended quality contractors that could do the work within my budget. Steve's design is well thought out and extremely detailed. It will more than pay for itself over the life of the project.

He first came out to see the site, a small side courtyard area. Then, after talking with me for a while to get an idea about my likes and dislikes, intended uses for the space, and preferences for hardscape materials, he created three rough plans for our second meeting. At the second meeting, my husband and I were able to narrow in on a final design. We took elements from each of Steven's plans. We liked all three so much. At the third meeting, he explained the ultimate plan in detail and described all the plants. The plans are very detailed and professional. We used the plans to get bids from different contractors. Using Steven as a designer was the best decision we ever made. Steven created a great design based on our needs and the space - not what a contractor could make the most profit on. He was also very good at designing something that would be affordable to implement. He is very good at listening and incorporating your ideas and designing something that fits the concept you had in your head. I would recommend him to anyone. The finished product looks better than we imagined. Without Steven's design, we would have no idea what plants to use or how to place them! And he provided a very creative hardscape design which everyone has commented on - that design alone was worth hiring Steven.

Steven Letz is very professional. He listened to our needs and dreams for the front of our house, and incorporated them into a workable, practical design to beautify the front of our house while improving and simplifying our water and maintenance requirements. We are now working with a contractor to implement his design, and are very excited to see the finished product .
