Larry A Hudson Plumbing

Mr. Hudson arrived within 1 hour of my phone call requesting an estimate, even though it was not an emergency. He was courteous, extremely knowledgeable, honest, and completed all work earlier than estimated. He explained the estimate thoroughly and brought up issues that other estimators had neglected or ignored. For example, because we are a self managed 8 unit condominium association, we need a commercial water heater. The other companies quoted a residential water heater, which, as I understand it now, would not have been, to code, and therefore could have jeopardized future condo sales.

We had a inoperative bathroom faucet in the 2nd floor (guest) bathroom. We had company arriving the next day. I had a replacement fixture, but I was unable to remove the old corroded fixture - time for a pro. I selected and called Larry Hudson Plumbing based on prior Angie's list reports. I received a call back the same day and was told that they could do the job the next day before our guests arrived. I received a call about 9am that day (it was raining cats & dogs) and Dana said he was be coming from Rancho Bernardo. He arrived when he said he would and tackled the job. It was difficult, because of the corroded faucets, but he completed the job in about 2 hours and put in the new fixture. I thought that the charge was a bit steep ($200.00 + $34.00 trip charge) since I supplied the faucet, but the job was well done in a timely manner and I did get the 15% first service discount. My wife was a bit miffed that he tracked in some mud on our carpet, but it was minor and cleaned up easily.

I had an excellent experience with this vendor. As mentioned above, Dana did a very nice job, and did it promptly. I was able to leave the house before 6PM as promised over the phone.

I spoke to Jason and we reviewed the potential causes and options from a leaky valve or shower pan to needing to rip the tile out to find the problem. Jason came out and was able to find the multiple leaks in the shower arm and valve and replace all the fixtures. Started using Larry Hudson for my larger plumbing repairs last year. Whenever I have a problem that's more than just a clogged drain, I call them.

Jason and Dana called before coming over. They were both very personable and took the time to explain the options I had available. I opted for the more expensive cleaning option, power-washing, for the kitchen drain and had the bathroom drain snaked. Jason also rebuilt the drain piping under the kitchen sink. The entire project took about 90 minutes. They were very professional. I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend their services to anyone.

I initially called regarding a gurgling sound in the pipes when we flushed our downstairs toilet. Harry explained because of pipes, type of toilet, etc. nothing was wrong. Then asked them to look at garbage disposal which my husband had installed. They reseated and removed the knock-out plug. Worked about 20 minutes. Said no charge, just call them if I needed service again...which I definitely will. What nice guys! (Larry Hudson and his partner, sorry didn't get his name.) It is so refreshing to find a company today that embodies the values of a by-gone era and also have a great sense of humor. Thanks, guys.

I originally called about a slow leak from an upstairs master bedroom shower, and what I thought was excessively high water pressure coming into the house from the city water main. I discovered that the leak was simply a loose handle, which I repaired myself, but I still wanted the water pressure checked. Two plumbers arrived within the promised time window, checked the water pressure and assured me that it was not too high. They were very professional and helpful, and did not charge a service call fee.

My call was returned promptly. Jason and an assistant were here within two hours, and they diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. They also reported that the problem was roots growing into the line and advised me on a product I could use to avoid needing service in the future. They were friendly, fast, and informative. They were excellent overall.

The company was pleasant on the phone when I called this morning, said they'd be here between noon and 2 pm on the same day, called at noon to say they were on their way, arrived shortly thereafter, and did a thorough review of the situation before concluding they were not the right company for the job. I would highly recommend them, because of their dedication to service and obvious expertise (Justin talked with me a long time about what might be going on and how to fix it).

Was advised by the person who answered the phone that she had no idea what brands they used. No offer to check for me or to have someone get back to me. It felt like my call was an unwanted interruption in her day.

Great. They were on time, on task and worked really hard at getting customer needs met. They cleaned out the main line to the septic, which solved my main problem and worked for a long time on one remaining sluggish drain. They made relevant recommendations on how to proceed in the future to keep the lines healthy.

Prior to contacting Hudson Plumbing, I had a back-up in my plumbing line, prompting me to replace two existing toilets. After new toilets were installed, the lines continued to back-up. I contacted Jason of Hudson Plumbing, explained my dilemma and we made an appointment for him to come out and take a look. Jason called on the appointment date to confirm our scheduled time, he arrived on time and provided me with a solution that I can perform on my own. I have not tried the solution yet, however, should it not work, I will immediately re-contact Jason. This young man is courteous, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He requested that I follow-up with him and let him know if my problem does get resolved. The kicker? No charge for his visit! How about that? I went out on a limb by calling this plumbing company and I was pleasantly surprised. Hudson Plumbing will remain on my list...thanks to Angie's list! (Culprit? Possible tree roots!)

They checked out the problem for free, then came back to replace the faucet. Mr. Hudson was honest and down-to-earth. He gave me the 15% discount for first-timers who use Angie's list. I would use this plumber again.

The team arrived promptly and efficiently completed the job in well under one day. They were courteous and pleasant to deal with. They left the work areas picked up.

It was wonderful - He showed up when he said he would, finished quickly, gave me pointers on how to care for my new disposal. I would definitely use him again.

Very promote and timely service. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Sub-contractors (Lehnig brothers) very friendly and conscientious. I was very satisfied with all the service and would use Larry Hudson Plumbing and the Lehnig brothers again.

Impressed by so many positive reports I called Larry Hudson Plumbing to check out our sluggish toilet. They came out the following morning, checked it out, got a tool and fished the comb out of the trap without having to take off the toilet, all in about 20 minutes! Then, he declined to charge me anything for the effort, saving me about $75 that any other outfit would've charged. When was the last time that happened with any other so-called service company? I've already recommended Hudson Plumbing to 2 of my neighbors.

I'm not sure that the price was all that great. They charged $200 or so to replace the garbage disposal (that included a $75 disposal unit).

My appointment was scheduled between 10 and noon. They called around noon to say that they couldn't get anyone out for a couple more hours. They arrived at 2 pm. After telling me it was going to cost $790, I asked if that included the 15% discount offered on Angie's List, and I was told it did. Later, they reduced the cost, but I still felt the price was too high. They worked no more that 2 1/2 hours. Then they told me that I had particles in my water that plugged up the faucet and that they couldn't get a replacement until the next day. So I was without water in the kitchen. They told me they would be back at my house by 7:15 am so that I could get to work. Later that evening, they called to say they couldn't make it until later. I rescheduled for 3. They arrived at 3:30, installed the faucet, and left. Later that evening, I discovered a leak. I was not happy. They came the next day and fixed the leak. The next day, I found yet another leak, and I fixed that one.

The work was non-emergency, so had to be rescheduled twice due to higher priority emergency work. Larry and Dana arrived ahead of time for the third appointment. The drain clean-out and valve replacements were done without incident, but replacing the lav trap gave them a challenge, as the pipes and fittings were crumbling and the basin had hairline cracks which could easily have been worsened in the process of replacing the trap. Fortunately, the basin survived the procedure and will suffice until the bathroom is upgraded in the next year or so. The work areas were left clean. I was very impressed with the knowledge, skill and courtesy of this company, and plan to hire them to install a tank less water heater.

They were on time, personable, and did the job without trying to "upsell";a pleasant change from some of the companies out there.

The owner and his son did an outstanding job. There were some difficulties, but they knew how to handle the project. I would definitely have them back for any future project, and would recommend them to friends and neighbors.

They determined that no work needed to be done. I had a huge water bill so I called them to come out and check the problem. They didn't do work but they looked around and checked my water meter. They were so delightful and it was so refreshing to have them come out. They weren't there to rip me off. Old fashioned service. I asked about their prices for the future which I found to be reasonable. They determined that there were no leaks and they said more than likely the water company wasn't reading the water meter properly. I would definitely have then back again.

Arrived on time per agreement. Completed work in acceptable time. Work was done in a professional manner. Very good job. I would use again.
